“I’m sorry, I couldn’t say any more there. I’m sure you’re curious about why, Rust.”

“If you can tell me…”

“Of course. But where should I begin…”

“Wherever is easier for you.”

“Thank you Rust, you are very kind.”

“You’re exaggerating.”

We go back to Kahelone’s room. Sadly, there wasn’t another giant praying mantis waiting on the way back. I was hoping to get more materials, but no such luck.

I sit on a stool, and Kahelone pours tea again.

And once again, it’s very easy to drink with its low bitterness and perfect temperature. It hasn’t been that long since I drank it before we headed to the underground tomb, but it feels very tasty.

I guess I’m more nervous than I thought.

“Well then, can we start from the divine protection of the goddess Araysla?”

“Yes, of course.”

Kahelone nods, and magic elements fill the room again. I’m used to seeing them by now, but when they touch my skin, they feel nice and warm, like the tea I’m drinking.

Magic elements reach every corner of the room, and Kahelone gets up slowly, places the teapot on the table, and walks towards her bed.

She puts one knee on her bed as she leans forward. She’s getting a book from a shelf attached to the other side of the bed. I look at this defenseless position and wonder if she takes books from there like this all the time.

“Here it… Ah…”

“Ah!”

Did she lose her balance? The knee on the bed slips and she falls.

Considering something similar happened before, I’m guessing she’s a bit sillier than I thought. I figure she’s all right, since she just fell with her face on the bed, and look away while hiding my face by pretending to drink tea.

I hear the sound of clothes rustling, and as I finish my tea, I prompt her to continue with a smile on my face.

“What about the divine protection?”

“D-d-divine protection… As it states here in the notes of Saint Albert…”

Kahelone opens the book and shows it to me with her face still red.

Was I too quick to get back to the subject at hand? But despite everything, she still managed to get the book.

I look at the book.

It appears to be something like a journal of someone named Actor Albert, who was made a saint of the church of Araysla.
