Name:The Fallen Merman Author:
“This is Han Xingqian, Dr. Han from the IOA Medical Association. The IOA Secret Service faced and defeated No. 218 Patissier who had entered the deterioration stage. Let’s invite Dr. Han to give us a brief introduction to the situation at that time.”

The PBB Thunder Support Team’s medical specialists sat around the conference table and listened intently. Dr. Charles handed the laser pointer to Han Xingqian.

The specialists gathered together at the conference table all came from different countries and all spoke different languages, so Han Xingqian could only explain the entire situation in English.

He stood up and slightly bowed, then pulled up his PPT. On the screen were bloody photos, but for these doctors, such a scene was nothing out of the ordinary.

“Patissier’s deterioration was due to a bottle of Ac enhancer, which was injected into the gland on the back of his neck. After the drug had taken effect, the bee experimental subject who was originally only at 10% mimicry, reached complete mimicry and evolved into a bee form. Moreover, his entire body increased in size by almost ten times. He was unable to control his actions and his attacks were aggressive—it can be said that this is the ultimate form of a spec ops weapon.”

“After deterioration, suppressors no longer worked and human weapons couldn’t injure him in the slightest. We focused on shooting at the gland on his nape, but Patissier was still able to move despite his glands being severely damaged, and even had the ability to heal. In the end, Bai Chunian, the head of the Secret Service’s Search Department, killed Patissier with his annihilate ability. In other words, apart from this, there is no other method created that can completely kill an experimental subject in the deterioration stage.”

“The patent of the Ac enhancer is in the hands of the 109 Research Institute’s Hummingbird Aileen. I tried copying the sample before, but the effect could only last for 24 hours.”

A doctor raised his hand and asked, “How long does it take from injection to complete deterioration?”

Han Xingqian answered, “Sixteen minutes. During this period, the experimental subject has yet to lose their awareness, but their bodies are already changing to complete mimicry, and they begin showing destructive powers. We have defined these 16 minutes as ‘Deterioration Manifestation Stage.’ Experimental subjects in the deterioration manifestation stage have yet to enter the invincible state, so destroying the gland at this stage can kill them.”

“Is this process irreversible?”

Han Xingqian nodded. “We have currently not found a way to regress them from the deterioration stage. However, I brought Patissier’s blood sample and tissue section for your joint research.”

Dr. Charles took the lead to express his gratitude. The doctors then returned to the lab one after another, studying and discussing the materials Han Xingqian brought.

Almost all the doctors working in the Thunder Support Team were seniors in the industry and had made achievements in various fields. After discussing with them all morning, Han Xingqian felt an unprecedented level of clarity in his mind.

After he finished eating lunch, he didn’t see Bai Chunian anywhere, so he went for a walk at the playground to check on how the students were doing.

The students were doing obstacle course training. When Han Xingqian got closer, he saw Bai Chunian leisurely leaning against a sandbag and said loudly without regard for those around him, “This is the last stretch ah, get it together. The person who finishes first won’t need to fold their blanket tomorrow morning.”

The PBB soldiers turned a deaf ear to Bai Chunian’s promise. They were used to uniformity and didn’t think of it as a reward. The IOA students were different—hearing what Bai Chunian said, they were all more motivated to rush forward.

“Hey, what do you mean by this?” Upon hearing what Bai Chunian said, Captain Whale Shark who was standing next to him rolled up his sleeves and argued.

He Suowei was also exasperated. “Is this what you call a reward? Isn’t this just supporting their unruly behavior?”

Bai Chunian unscrewed the cap of a water bottle, hooked an arm onto He Suowei’s shoulder, and drank a gulp of water. “It’s not that they don’t want to fold their blankets, but they want to be different from others. What you guys in the PBB Forces want is obedience. What our IOA Secret Service wants is being opinionated. Our training direction is different, so there’s no need for us to argue over this.”

Bai Chunian turned around and saw Han Xingqian. “Oh, you’re here.”

Han Xingqian, “Have you chosen yet?”

Today wasn’t an ordinary daily training; several captains had to select some suitable students to deal with some experimental subjects.

“En, we’re picking Yu Xiaocheng.” Bai Chunian said.

Captain Whale Shark picked a swordfish omega, while He Suowei directly pointed at a person.

“Everyone else can go rest. Rimbaud, come here.” Bai Chunian gestured for Rimbaud to come over.

Rimbaud jumped down from the electric net and Bai Chunian caught him in his arms.

“Tired yet? Come over and sleep with me tonight.”

“Hen.” Rimbaud obviously still held a grudge from this morning, his head turning to the side. “No, I’m going to sleep in the ocean.”

“Really? You really won’t sleep with me?” Bai Chunian looked at him purely. He had an innocent look on his face, as if he wasn’t the one who acted indecently during the day.

“…” Rimbaud’s face was indifferent, yet the scales on his tail trembled in Bai Chunian’s palm. This was an indication of his lust being aroused.

“Don’t you think they are actually quite amusing?

“A bit.”

Bai Chunian walked over with Rimbaud in his arms and introduced him to several captains, “This is my lover, and also a sparring partner hired by the IOA at a high price. An A3-grade manta ray omega. His name is Rimbaud, you guys should know him—Experimental Subject No. 857, Electro-optic Phantom, ranked amongst the top ten on the World’s Most Wanted list.”

“Electro…optic…Phantom…” The whale shark Wei Lan secretly swallowed, sweating for the him that argued with Rimbaud this morning.

He Suowei furrowed his brows, “Ah?”

“I’m married, I’ll tell you more about it later.” Bai Chunian stretched out a hand, “Experimental Subject No. 9100, Divine Envoy. It’ll be a pleasure working with you all.”

Wei Lan, “Shit, so you’re Divine Envoy?! The first on the World’s Most Wanted list was you? The major later used his connections to erase your name from it.”

Bai Chunian asked He Suowei, “Why aren’t you suprised? This isn’t the reaction I wanted.”

He Suowei gave him a look. “Love whoever you want.”

They followed Han Xingqian to a fully enclosed underground training ground.

The PBB military base had taken over a total of 14 experimental subjects from the International Prison. They were locked in different rooms which were well-equipped and had private bathrooms. Although it was not luxurious, at least they were not treated harshly.

In terms of standpoint, both the PBB military base and the IOA belong to the peacekeeping faction, opposing war and the circulation of super arms like experimental subjects in the world. However, in the past few years, the Research Institute had created and sold more than 100,000 experimental subjects. Killing them all went against their original intention.

The major’s intention was that he hoped to try to communicate peacefully with them so as to achieve the goal of coexistence.

But these experimental subjects were generally resistant to communication. Except for some who were in the cultivation stage and couldn’t speak articulately, there were some experimental subjects in the maturity stage who think highly of themselves and yearn for freedom. It was unrealistic to release them all at once, so they could only be educated one by one in order.

Under the joint supervision of several captains, they released the first experimental subject—the red-tailed hawk experimental subject “Huck” with the serial number 7115—in the closed field.

The first number 7 represented bird-type glands. The middle number 1 represented 10% mimicry, meaning, mimicry of the eyes. The last number 15 represented the grasping-type ability.

He had already entered the maturity stage, but his differentiation grade was relatively low; he was only at J1 differentiation, so it was a good idea to start with him.

Huck was led out of the room by several armed team members. Handcuffed, he looked around distrustfully, his eyes full of rebellious hostility.

Bai Chunian had someone remove his suppressor and handcuffs.

It had been a long time since he felt the ease of the suppressor being taken off. He closed his eyes, lifted his head, and felt his entire body refilled with gland energy, repairing his injured bones and veins.

“What do you guys want me to do?” Huck was finally willing to speak, “I promise to assassinate a few enemies for you guys as long as you guys let me free.”

Bai Chunian, “Coincidentally, we actually hope that you don’t kill people, don’t cause trouble, and learn some of the rules of human society in a timely manner.”

Huck froze, then laughed mockingly.

“Making me learn human stuff? I don’t want to.” Huck was obstinate, sitting on the ground. “I hold advanced weapons skills in my brain. I don’t need to learn these weak creatures stuff.”

“Weak creatures?” Bai Chunian lifted his chin. “Xiaocheng, go.”

Yu Xiaocheng nervously rubbed his hands. In fact, besides the time he assisted in the rescue at Enxi Hospital, he had no other real combat experience he could show.

Huck found it amusing when the person that came up was an omega. Not only him, but several of the captains standing at the side also thought Yu Xiaocheng didn’t have much chance of winning; after all, the opponent was an experimental subject. Without a grade suppressor, it was hard for an omega to win.

However, that wasn’t the case.

As soon as Yu Xiaocheng entered the field, he immediately activated his J1 ability, Tentacle Anemone. This was a very rare symbiotic summoning-type ability, and it was precisely with this ability that Yu Xiaocheng had maintained his position in the top three among the trainees of his generation.

Yu Xiaocheng had the assistance of the Golden Anemone, which was equivalent to having two combat powers on the field. The sea anemone used venom to control, while Yu Xiaocheng himself was responsible for the frontal attack.

If one wanted to get close to Xiaocheng, they would inevitably be entangled by the sea anemone tentacles behind him and injected with venom. It could be said that Yu Xiaocheng was sure to win against any J1-grade close-combat opponent.

Huck was an expert at fast close-combat, but he couldn’t get close to Yu Xiaocheng, so he couldn’t use it to his advantage and was pushed down to the ground most of the time.

The several captains watching the fight whispered in each other’s ears.

“Not bad.”

Wei Lan hooked his hand around Feng Lang’s shoulder and whispered to him, “Tsk tsk, he’s a clownfish.”

“He’s pretty strong.” Vice-captain Feng crossed his arms and leaned against the wall. His eyes fell on Yu Xiaocheng in admiration. “I told you, IOA’s omegas are all fierce.”

Huck thought that they were actually using such a method to kill him. He had no choice but to lie on the ground and give up on resisting. Yu Xiaocheng stopped suddenly.

He slowly opened his eyes, and Yu Xiaocheng’s face was already in front of him. Yu Xiaocheng squatted beside him and asked in a low voice if he had struck him too hard.

He was a human omega. His cheeks were a light pink, his eyelashes were long, and he was very cute.

Huck stammered, “Uh… no…”

Bai Chunian waved his hand and ticked off his name from the list. “7115 Huck will be handed over to Yu Xiaocheng, next.”

The second person to be led out was Experimental Subject No. 324, Invisible Stalker.

Invisible Stalker’s grade was high, and he was very strong, so he would actually be tough to deal with.

But after his suppressor and handcuffs were removed, Invisible Stalker raised his hands in surrender. His eyes stared at the ground as he indifferently said, “I promise that I won’t kill humans indiscriminately, will not disturb public order, and will work hard in studying.”

Bai Chunian had already known that Invisible Stalker won’t resist. He raised his head and looked at him. “What’s that in your hand?”

Invisible Stalker held a magnetic card in his hand. With his head down, he silently walked up to Bai Chunian and showed it to him. Bai Chunian wanted to take it, but Invisible Stalker held it tightly and refused to let go.

It was just a meal card for the military base. It could be used to eat at their canteen, but that was all.

Printed on the name column was “Xia Xiaochong.”

“Major Xia gave me this yesterday. He said the money inside is enough for me to eat for a long time.” Invisible Stalker softly explained, “He previously asked me for my name, but I didn’t have one, so I just gave myself one.”

Most of the experimental subjects weren’t very familiar with the form of human language, and of course they wouldn’t feel how stupid it was to have such a name.

Bai Chunian didn’t laugh at him, he just said lightly, “Is having a name a good thing? For example, if you acknowledge this name, then I can annihilate you into a marble at any time.”

“That’s fine with me. I want to get closer to him.” Invisible Stalker lightly shook his head, his hand that was grasping the card in front of him continued to struggle. “Can you help me buy a notebook and a pen? I don’t have anything I can give him in return. The wall next to his office desk is empty, it needs a dignified painting hung up there. The canteen auntie said they don’t sell pen and paper so I can’t buy them.”
