Bai Chunian didn’t know how long he had been unconscious and woke up only to see the dark wilderness and a dense forest ahead. He was lying by the stream, his upper body naked, and his clothes stacked beside him.

He touched his body, his fingertips resting on the name Rimbaud had carved on his lower abdomen. The scar represented intense possessiveness laying thinly across the hard, tight muscles of his stomach.

He remembered that he had been sweating a lot, but his body was now clean as though he had taken a bath. However, all he could remember was that someone was tenderly licking his cheeks, earlobes, and hair in his dreams. Moreover, the gentle, quiet pheromones had stayed by his side and never left.

Bai Chunian sat up and looked around. He saw his merman lying in the stream not far away, flat on the pebbles at the bottom of the stream.

All around him was barren land; only the area where Rimbaud lay was an oasis of lush greenery, flourishing flowers, as well as cold blue and fiery red butterflies fluttering about in his hair.

Rimbaud lay in the stream that barely reached his wrists, letting the shallow stream soak his body and wash away the blood on his body. He seemed to have suffered severe trauma—some of his exposed flesh and bone had not yet healed, and the fallen scales were also yet to grow back to cover the wound.

Bai Chunian’s knees felt weak, and he stood up with difficulty. He picked up his clothes from the ground, limped over toward Rimbaud, and squatted beside him to examine his injuries.

Some parts of Rimbaud’s body were covered with a layer of glass. Judging from the wounds, the originally injured area should be larger, but most of the glass had already been torn off by him, and there were still some residual fragments. Removing the vitreous matter was very painful, as it had emerged and condensed from his skin under the effect of Annihilate and was attached to the flesh. It might take a while to scrape it off, however, if it was not completely removed, it would continue to corrode his body.

Bai Chunian looked at his own hands and squatted beside Rimbaud in apology. He gently scooped the water with both hands, poured it on the wounds that weren’t soaked in shallow water on Rimbaud’s body, and removed the remaining glass for him.

“I’m sorry, I lost control, and I actually hurt you.” Bai Chunian stroked Rimbaud’s riddled skin with regret, releasing the highest concentration of soothing pheromones without hesitation; the flesh regrowth of where his palm touched immediately sped up.

“I’ve been desperately trying to learn everything about human culture and habits since I left the breeding base. From the first assignment I received from the President, I never missed a beat. I am afraid of making mistakes, afraid that I’ll lose what I have gained, and now I am afraid that you won’t even want me.”

“How can you say that?”

Rimbaud lay in the stream and raised a hand above his eyes to block the sunlight. He gently smiled as he opened his eyes, his voice was mellow and soft, “Even if everyone doesn’t want you, I will always want you. Don’t take This King’s promises frivolously, Xiao Bai. I always mean it.”

Bai Chunian dropped his scooping hand in a daze and looked at Rimbaud hesitantly, “How can you speak…so smoothly?”

Rimbaud propped his hands on the pebbles under the water and sat up slowly from the stream that only reached his insteps. His fish tail swept with the current and glowed with a golden blue luster as the sun shone on it.

“My food intake is full.” Rimbaud washed his hands in the stream and shook them dry.

His behavior and actions were completely devoid of immaturity and dullness of the cultivation stage. His every gesture was not only steady and mature but also carried a kind of divine nobility that naturally exuded after experiencing a long life in this world.

It was even different from his appearance and temperament that used to be ripened with the Ac enhancer. It was his real maturity stage.

“You ripped my bandages into a mess and kept trying to suck something out of my chest, have you forgotten it?” Rimbaud tidied up the bandages wrapped around his upper body, a few scattered hickeys faintly showing through the gaps in the bandages, “Sucked me to the point that it hurt, but unfortunately, I can’t produce anything that could give you anything to eat.”

Bai Chunian stiffly pursed his lips, and his cheeks became scaldingly hot.

He had been used to dealing with the dull fish in the cultivation stage. Now, squatting half-naked in front of the other, an indescribable sense of shame from the difference emerged in his heart. He hurriedly put on his clothes, as if he was afraid that he would taint the surrounding sweet fragrance if he was close to him.

“Darling, you’ve been hugging and nibbling me since you fell asleep. If I hadn’t seen you crying and wailing so pitifully, I certainly wouldn’t have just taken off your shirt,” Rimbaud noticed his hesitation and raised his hand, rubbing Bai Chunian’s hair. He smiled indulgently, “I’ve been doting on you very much.”

Instead, as if he had been given something to lean on, Bai Chunian fell on his knees, wrapping his arms around Rimbaud and hugging him tightly. His eyes were red and, with a muffled voice, he asked, “What should I do? I have always been in command; it has always been someone else asking me what to do, so now, where do I belong? Where should I go?”

A believer who encountered his god would always pour out all his grievances and confusions to his faith, and he was not an exception.

“Those cubs who died in front of me were just children who have not yet grown up in my eyes. Did they die because of me? I never wanted to hurt anyone. In the end, I caused all this chaos. Do I deserve to die?

“This is my first mission failure; I have never failed before. Who should I hate, myself?”

“You don’t belong to them either, you belong to yourself and to me. Baby, you didn’t do anything wrong,” Rimbaud wiped his eyes. “It is the lowly humans who are at fault for blaspheming living beings, and I will punish them.”

Rimbaud patted him on the back. In fact, he really wanted to tell Bai Chunian that he could take him back to the Caribbean Sea, but the premise was to give up everything he had here. If he left now, it would mean that he would abscond on behalf of the experiment subjects and would never be allowed to come back anymore.

He knew that Bai Chunian could not part with his students, friends, colleagues, as well as his most trusted person, the President. Even if one day they really were to leave the land, the most probable reason would be exile.

All he could do was accompany him until he was banished. Compared to him, a king’s honor wasn’t really that important.

“My little darling, how should I comfort you?” Rimbaud cupped his face, leaned over to his lips, and whispered seductively, “Come, kiss me.”

Seeking comfort, Bai Chunian eagerly covered his lips and entangled his tongue in a lingering kiss. Rimbaud allowed him to push himself down and have his way.

It wasn’t until their lips parted, pulling out a thread of saliva, that Bai Chunian had had the spare energy to notice Domino, who held his face as he sat on the canopy of a tree not far away. He was wiggling his antennae and smiling as he watched them; he was bursting with inspiration as he wrote a sex scene on his notepad.

Bai Chunian separated a little distance from him and asked quietly, “Why didn’t you warn me that someone was nearby?”

Rimbaud lightly wiped his lower lip with his ring finger. “That butterfly omega has been following you. I want him to see how you look when you are kissed by me. Now, explain to me why he smells like you.”

“I talked to him before. You should have met him before—Domino, the writer we met at the pyramid cabin.”

“Oh…” Rimbaud indifferently licked the saliva off his fingertips, “Well, that’s fortunate. Otherwise, I would’ve fucked him. Although I’m an omega, my thing underneath is not just for show.”

Rimbaud had always adhered to the philosophy that his backyard would never catch fire as long as he fucked over all of his love rivals.

Bai Chunian covered his mouth.

Domino flapped his virtual wings behind him and landed in front of them, crouching on his knees and squinting in front of Rimbaud to take credit, “Luckily, I arrived just in time, otherwise, it would have been a disaster. Divine Envoy is a Grade 9 mature subject; there are only two paths in front of him. If he can evolve smoothly and slowly into an independent subject, he would automatically become invincible. However, this stage is likely to directly enter the deterioration stage with just a little stimulation; your consciousness would be uncontrollable, destroying and devouring everything. My Butterfly Phantsia saved him before such an accident occurred.”

Rimbaud nodded and spread out his palm.

Domino’s red butterfly excitedly landed on Rimbaud’s fingertips, waiting for the shimmering blue light to enter its wing patterns. His originally sunset morpho butterfly that alternated between gold and red and couldn’t emit light suddenly had the ability to display a fantastic blue glow in the night and leave an afterglow in its wake.

Domino happily held his face, and his antennae moved wildly, “Oh, how embarrassed I am. Thank you, King.”

“?” Bai Chunian had been feeling like something was wrong and that this butterfly was truly an ass-kisser.

Nonetheless, it was understandable as not everyone had the chance to be blessed by the king of the sea.

“That’s right… How did you grow to maturity? Bai Chunian’s doubts had not been dispelled, “Did you eat anything?… Or did I do something when I passed out?”

Rimbaud pinched his cheek, “Nope, little darling. I was almost there, and you were also behaving when you were asleep.”

Rimbaud quietly put his hand behind him and crushed the last of the blood-red glass marbles he had gathered.
