Volume 1 - CH 15

Name:The Fallen Merman Author:
Lu Yan found a bottle of translucent pink elixir with “Accelerant” on the label in the reagent cabinet of the laboratory. The elixir was placed in an ampoule attached to an injection gun about ten centimeters long with medical tape. He could see that it was used as a set.

“Instructions for use: After injecting the agent into the glands on the back of the neck, it will take effect within 10 seconds.” Lu Yan read the contents of the label on the ampoule. “Take effect, but it doesn’t say what effect it’ll have, that’s all.”

“Let me do it, don’t scrape your hand.” Bai Chunian pulled the tactical dagger out of his gun belt, cut off the glass cap of the ampoule with the back of the knife when he drew it out quickly, and skillfully used the injection gun to absorb the liquid, sniffing the smell of the liquid before closing the lid.

“It’s done.” Lu Yan flipped the mission book. Mission 2 “Search for Accelerant hallucinogen in the hospital” was completed. There were already two stars in the mission book, in addition to the fourteen kills Lu Yan had now obtained that were converted into one star. “Now as long as you survive to the end, you can get six stars.”

Bai Chunian turned his head and asked several of the omegas, “How many stars do you all want to get? The research institute will be a hard fight. I might as well guide you all to the end. There are three fixed ammunition boxes there. I don’t know how many teams are fighting for it, I can’t take care of you all so many little babies.”

Lu Yan gave him a slanted look and put the AC hallucinogen injection gun into his pocket, “Who’s your baby?”

Bai Chunian sat on the window sill with his hand propped up, leisurely shaking his legs, “You’re all my babies.”

Rimbaud, who was chewing on an empty ampoule, suddenly stopped and blinked at Bai Chunian, “En?”

Bai Chunian curved the corners of his lips, smiling at him, “You hear that? I was saying that these cute omegas are my babies.” Just now, when Rimbaud unabashedly showed his possessiveness, Bai Chunian felt inexplicably comfortable. He also wanted to see what the fish could do more than threaten. In fact, a public kiss and hug to declare sovereignty or whatever were all pretty good.

But to Rimbaud’s ears, Bai Chunian said: “[email protected]#¥%…are ¥%#cute omega¥%# are my baby”.

Rimbaud nodded, raised the tip of his tail to give Bai Chunian a “√”, and even put away his attacking posture, seemingly very generous on the surface.

Bai Chunian had a grin on his face, clenched his teeth, and pinched Rimbaud’s face. “Not bad, that’s what you said. When we return home, I’ll teach you again.”

The growth process of Special Operations experimental subjects were divided into three stages: cultivation stage, maturity stage, and deterioration stage. Experimental subjects in cultivation stage were in their growth process in all aspects of their abilities.

Rimbaud was in the cultivation stage. Although various organs of his body were maturing, his comprehension and expression ability were worse than that of normal humans. He needed to constantly eat inorganic and organic substances to help maintain the energy of the gland. Eating enough or injecting catalysts could speed up the growth process.

Bai Chunian asked everyone to spread out their mission books and compare mission details. He found that many missions were related to the files in Area D on the third floor of the library. Some were to disorganize, some were to sort out, and some were to destroy. According to calculations of probability, candidates in the entire city examination room were at least 80% likely to get a mission in the library, but because of the different starting locations, the times each of them took to reach the library were basically staggered, which meant that many people had skimmed over the data in the archives.

Coupled with the other seven reports already taken away from the tic-tac-toe bookshelf in this laboratory, it could be understood that the examiner’s original intention was to spread the content of these materials.

Bi Lanxing’s three missions:

Mission 1: Clean up intruders in the library (Completed)

Mission 2: Browse and take away the test report in the center compartment of the laboratory’s tic-tac-toe bookshelf (Completed)

Mission 3: Light up the candlestick on the 16th floor of the research institute.

Lu Yan’s three missions:

Mission 1: Hand over the microchip to the administrator of the archives room in Area D on the third floor of the library (Completed)

Mission 2: Search for Accelerant hallucinogen in the hospital (Completed)

Mission 3: Remove the SLR camera from the elevator of the research institute.

There was a team mechanism in the missions. As long as one of them completed a certain mission, other people in the team would also complete theirs by default if they had the same mission. The team missions were basically interoperable. Bai Chunian finally felt his interest caught and took a closer look at his own mission book.

Mission 1: Browse laboratory test reports in the center of the laboratory bookshelf (Completed)

Mission 2: Scan the microchip in the public computer room on the tenth floor of the research institute.

Mission 3: Take a picture of experimental subject 1513.

Rimbaud’s mission had no reference value.

“Get it now?” Du Mo spread out his team’s mission books, “Experiment Subject No. 1513 is in this examination room, and it’s likely that it’ll be locked up in the research institute. We can see that monster if we go.”

“I’m very curious about what this 1513 really is. As long as one of my teammates can survive, I can get six stars. Anyway, I’m here to score points. It doesn’t even matter if it’s a failing grade. If you all go to the research institute, take me with you. I’ll do my best to help you all, and you don’t have to specially protect me, it’s fine if I die.”

Bai Chunian was absent-minded, thinking that it would be great if this exam charged entrance tickets. When he had time, he’d take the Alliance special agents here. This team building project was much more interesting than the old days when a group of agents went on vacation to the Golden Triangle to play with drug dealers.

“Alright, gege.” Du Mo released a trace of appealing pheromone and took the initiative to show weakness to the alpha. When omega released such pheromones, it generally meant expressing demands and desires. Alpha was born with a desire to protect omega and tended to be softened when receiving signals of demands.

Rimbaud raised the tip of his tail to lift up Crow Omega’s chin, narrowed his blue eyes to look at him, and a few unskilled tones squeezed out of his clenched teeth, “Okay, you, come with, me.”

The two teams were divided into two vehicles. According to Du Mo’s guidance, they directly killed the first team in the shopping mall, grabbed the supplies of that team, and then drove towards the location of the research institute. The location was relatively remote, on the outskirts of the city map, and required them to drive through a highway road.

The two teams exchanged team members. Bi Lanxing drove in the car of the Team A, and Du Mo sat in Bai Chunian’s tilting back seat.

All of a sudden, Du Mo knocked on the glass. “There are two cars within 500 meters ahead of us. One has four people, all in low health, and the other one has four people all of them with full health.”

Crow Omega could detect vital signs within a certain range. Even Bai Chunian thought this associated ability was very useful. He turned on the communicator’s microphone and told Bi Lanxing in another car: “There are two cars 500 meters ahead.”

The two of them slowed down at the same time to avoid tailgating with the two cars in front of them. At this moment, there was a sudden blast of explosives in front of them, and a plume of thick sparks of smoke rose from the ground not far away. A Porsche was blown up in the air.

Du Mo paused for a while. “Now there are only four people left, one has half health and three have full health bars. They’ve turned around and are coming at us.”

At the same time, a real-time broadcast over the air:

【Ghost Hunter Team】He Suowei has blasted and eliminated【Help Zhen[1]Lie Down】

【Help Zhen Lie Down】 The whole team was eliminated.

Crow Omega’s detection radius was only 500 meters, and based on the high-speed travel of the car, it could only be calculated that the Ghost Hunter Team were going to directly collide with them in ten seconds.

The big black G[2]of the Ghost Hunter Team could already be seen at the end of the highway. There were guns set up on the left and right sides. Rifle bullets smashed into the front cover of the BMW, and a stream of hot smoke and flames burned in the front of the car.

Lu Yan groped the gun and knelt in the back seat ready to battle, his fingers anxiously resting on the door handle, ready to jump out of the car at any time. “The car is smoking. If it hits the fuel tank, it will explode! The car is about to collapse! We can’t keep it anymore!”

“Nonsense, it’s the same as the new one,” Bai Chunian easily turned the steering wheel, quickly swung a horizontal curve, and leisurely snapped his finger, “This newbie dared to sweep Laozi’s car, I’ll blow his head off.”

“Hey, me!”

In the chaos, a stray bullet penetrated the glass and made a bleeding bullet hole in Lu Yan’s lower abdomen. Lu Yan covered the wound and cursed with severe pain,  “So many people in the car, why is it me who got shot?”

“F__k, I just got distracted, don’t tell your dad about this.” Lu Yan got injured twice in a row, for a protection mission, it could almost be called a failure. Bai Chunian wanted to recover the loss. He pressed the car window, leaned out half of his body to the car window, and took out the megaphone:

“Listen up beasts of the Ghost Hunter Team, you hit our team’s (stupid) pampered rabbit, you guys are about to pay a heavy price for this unfortunate hit, you’re all in trouble!”
