Chapter 414 - The First Day (II)...

[Class 1-A]

Roland Chapelle slowly placed a small piece of meat in his mouth and he felt his world explode in the colour of flavours… he forgot about everything around him because none of them were important for him at this moment.

He simply wanted to get lost in the flavours of the food he has been presented with and never come back. But the reality was truly disappointing for him as he had to eat again if he wanted to get lost in the world of flavours.

Only now he remembered that he had to grade the students standing in front of him. The same students who have presented him with such a marvellous dish…

"I regret…" Roland Chapelle started to speak and Megumi Tadokoro's eyes grew wide in fear and her whole body started to shake in fear while Luna was still smiling like a loon.

"I regret that I don't have the ability to give you a higher grade than A… I am truly sorry for disappointing you" Roland Chapelle said and for a few seconds, no one except Luna, Jean, and Soma Yukihira were able to register the words Roland Chapelle just spoke.

"...Impossible"

"Am I dreaming?"

"This can't be happening…"

"This must be a dream… Yes, punish me!!" (mob M in the class)

Words like these rang out throughout the room while all of the regular students in the room gasped in surprise and shock. Jean was watching Luna with a small smile on her face… you shouldn't expect any less from Luna.

"I knew that you will like the dish" Luna beamed with a smile but no one bothered to notice how odd her words were… it was like she knew for sure that he would like the dish.

"Wh--What??" Megumi stuttered out in surprise. Her brain was yet to understand the whole situation.

For a few moments, she was sure that she had failed… She was already thinking about running away as she didn't want to disappoint her mother but the reality was completely different.

"This dish is truly marvellous… one of the best I have ever tasted" Roland Chapelle said and started to smile brightly. This shocked the already shocked students even more.

'More like none of them had the ability to make him smile' Jean snorted as she saw the scene from her own station.

"Can we wait in the class? My friend is still cooking" Luna asked and Roland Chapelle gave her permission without bothering much… he was busy eating Luna's and Megumi's dish.

Luna and Megumi returned to their station, while Luna was skipping, Megumi returned to the station with a dazed look on her face. She still couldn't comprehend the things that just happened.

[With Jean]

"She must have used honey, there is no other way that she was able to tenderize the meat so quickly. But how did she know about honey?" Soma Yukihira thought out loud.

"Oh… then I am not surprised. She keeps experimenting with sweet things so it is pretty understandable that she knew about the properties of honey" Jean pointed out and Soma nodded his head with an understanding look on his face.

"We should have done that too…" Soma spoke up and Jean simply shook her head.

"It doesn't matter anymore… we are already halfway done" Jean said and Soma bobbed his head up and down.

"Should I start frying the vegetables? I think the meat will be done in a few minutes" Soma asked and Jean nodded her head.

"Yeah… go ahead?" Jean said as she continued to cook the meat from both sides. After a few minutes, she was done while Soma was frying the onions and carrots.

Only after a few minutes, Soma was done with the vegetables while Jean was still cooking the meat so Soma decided to prepare the mushroom. So, Soma put the vegetables into the pot.

Jean noticed the two boys she had noticed were planning to drop a salt sprinkler into their dish… so, she simply used her telekinetic powers to open the salt sprinkler when they were seasoning the meat and vegetables.

"What?!! You should have been careful!!"

"No, I have checked the sprinkler!! What are we going to do now?"

Two loud voices were heard from the side of their station but Jean's face remained completely stoic but internally she gave herself a pat for the good job.

Jean was finally done with the meat so she carefully placed the meat into the pot. Soma was also done with mushrooms so he quickly added them in the pot too. Jean set the flames at low so that the meat and the vegetables could simmer.

"Let me make the sauce too… you keep an eye on the pot" Soma said and Jean agreed. Soma quickly started to prepare the sauce for the dish.

After half an hour the two of them were finally done with the dish… they were currently giving the dish some finishing touches.

Some other students were also presenting their dishes to Roland Chapelle but none of them were able to impress him like Luna's and Megumi's dish had done.

Jean and Soma finally made their way towards Roland Chapelle who was sitting behind the desk with a bored and dismissive look on his face. Roland Chapelle cut into the meat with a bored look on his face.

He put the small piece of meat in his mouth and his eyes grew wide in surprise. He hurriedly took another bite and finally Roland Chapelle started to smile once again. Once again the students were shocked.

"Again?!"

"How are they making the dish?"

"Tsk…!! They must have changed the recipe"

"They are also transfer students!!"

Words like these rang throughout the classroom. Roland Chapelle didn't say anything and continued eating the dish with a bright smile on his face. Both Jean and Soma patiently waited for Roland Chapelle to finish eating their dish.

Roland Chapelle finally gathered back his wits when he finally finished the dish. He wiped his mouth with a napkin and looked towards Jean and Soma.

"...Once again I am regretting the fact that I can't give you a grade higher than A… your dish was also one of the best I have ever tasted" Roland Chapelle said with a small smile Jean nodded her head politely with a smile on her face.

Soma untied his bandana with a huge grin on his face. "Happy to Serve!!" Soma yelled excitedly while Jean calmly approached Luna.

Since they were done with their dish, they could leave and with that Jean's and Luna's first class in Totsuki came to an end...

[Class 1-B]

"You know… I would have appreciated it if all of us were together in the same class" Fleur said in a disapproving tone but there was nothing she could do about the fact.

"At least you have me…" Nat muttered with a sigh… the glares were getting annoying even for someone like Nat. Nat's instincts were screaming at her to slit everyone's throats.

"I am quite surprised that we have our examiner with us in here" Fleur said while looking towards the other side of the room.

Nat had already noticed Nakiri Erina and her pet pinkette as soon as she had entered the class… This was something drilled into her mind. Nakiri Erina looked completely aloof and stood away from any other students.

"She had a skill named God's Tongue… that has earned her a place on the Elite Ten Council" Nat said in a bland tone.

"Hoh? Elite Ten Council? Is this something like the Students Council?" Fleur asked curiously and Nat nodded her head.

"Yes… you can say that. Most of the events in this school are arranged by the Ten of them. They also have a hand in hiring lecturers… they have a lot of power but that's not important for now" Nat said and a small smile appeared on Fleur's face.

"So… if we can get on the Elite Ten Council… we will have all that power, right?" Fleur asked and Nat nodded her head.

"Since they are still students they could be challenged to a Shokugeki, right?" Fleur asked and Nat stared at Fleur for a few seconds.

"Yes… you can… but you must best something of equal value" Nat said and Fleur nodded in understanding.

"Say a 5-star restaurant in Tokyo would be enough, right?" Fleur asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Yes… it would be enough but I think we shouldn't challenge any of them at this moment… we have no idea about their capabilities…  losing a 5-star hotel isn't a big deal but that doesn't mean that we should go in blind" Nat said and Fleur had to agree that Nat had a point.

Fleur knew that she was a good cook but she had no idea how good these Elite Ten were. They must be way better than any of the regular students as they must be the best this school has to provide.

"Teacher enroute" Nat said and Fleur tilted her head in understanding.

Only after a few moments, a man in his 40s entered the classroom. The man was dressed like any other chef… he stopped behind his desk and scanned the crowd of students in his class.

"For those who don't know me my name is Andreas Caminada (OC)" the man said while looking towards Fleur and Nat. Andreas Caminada turned towards the blackboard and quickly wrote down the ingredients.

4 large red potatoes, thinly sliced

3 cups Swiss cheese, shredded

4 tbsp butter

1 cup chicken broth

Salt and pepper, to taste

"Today all of you will be preparing Swiss Potatoes… There will be no groups or teams, all of you have to prepare your own dish" Andreas Caminada said and looked around the room to check everyone's reaction.

"....If someone wants to help another, I won't mind, after all, they will be using up their own time… You may start now" Andreas Caminada said blandly and sat down in his chair while intently staring at the students…
