Anyway, I’m relieved that there are no longer any idiots who would provoke those two, but since our fate is still in their hands, I can’t lose my fear of what will happen to us from here on out.

[Mary the elf from Black Rose, POV]

In a small village deep in the mountains within the empire, amidst the cries of children, the screams and shouts of young women and youths, and the corpses of elders lying around, the five people who created this disaster were happily eating food and drinking alcohol.

The villagers who are kept alive are all handcuffed, and a man, probably their underling, is gagging them to stop them from committing suicide.

“It’s an easy job, isn’t it? After all, you can get a lot of money just by raiding deserted villages, kidnapping potential slaves, and sending them to the Kingdom.”

“True! After all, the people left in the village are only small fry, women, children, and old people who don’t even have the ability to become adventurers.”

And when the bandit who attacked this village said so, they let out a dirty laugh, “Gahahahaha.”

At the sight of this, we suppress our anger and bear it.

The regret of not making it in time can come later. Now is the time to hold our breath and endure for the time to come.

The bandits were asleep before they knew it, and at daybreak, they came.

“Here you are, at last. I’ve waited a long time.”

“Don’t say that. So where’s the stuff this time?”

“Then go check it out. They’re all locked up in the house over there.”

Those people are the buyers hired by the slaver traders, s**t no better than bandits, who buy the villagers the bandits catch as slaves.

And since they are here, we can move with our plan, too.

“Come on, let’s go!”

Mary, the elf, called out to Anna, the centaur, Jessica, the human, and Garret, the dragonoid, and jumped out from the tree branch where they were hiding.

“Why are you all charging in without waiting for me to call out!? I have to give you the signal to charge this time! I demand a do-over!”

“I’m sorry, Mary. But I was running out of patience with their inhumanity. I knew we were going to charge at your signal, but I just couldn’t resist, and I found myself running out.”

“S-sorry. But I just can’t help feeling sorry for the kids…”

“Mary will be the one to signal the assault next time, so can you forgive me this time?”

“You’ve already said that three times already! When are you going to get it right?”
