“I never expected to see you here, by the way. It’s not that strange, I guess we all had the same idea.”

“Ahaha, that’s right.”

I laughed and nodded at the man who was right in front of me.

His name is Masaki Doumoto, my dad’s younger brother and Kanade’s father. The reason why I’m here with him is because I’ve come to visit the graves with the Shinjo family as part of the New Year’s visit. The first thing we did was to visit Sakuna-san’s husband’s grave, and then I came to this place where my father and mother are laid to rest.

“… I’m so sorry for everything that has happened to you.”

“Erm, it’s alright! It’s not Masaki-san’s fault to begin with… That being said, I remember I had this same conversation with Sumire-san already.”

I thought I was having a deja vu, but I don’t remember the exact details.

In the first place, the only ones to blame were those people, Masaki-san and Sumire-san had done nothing wrong. 

When I told him what I had said to his wife at the time, Masaki-san looked up and exhaled in relief.

“It’s a relief to hear you say that.”

Smiling, he continued his words.

“I was certainly pushed around by what my brother did, but that’s how much he cared about Kasumi-san. I now respect his courage to move for the sake of his woman, even if it meant abandoning his home.”

While Masaki and I were talking away from each other, the five women were gathered together and enjoying their conversation. “Having a daughter is nice, but having a son is nice too. I could always do this if you and Kanade were together… But I’ll give it up for now.”

“Well, Masaki-san, I…”

”Ha-ha-ha, don’t make that face, Hayato-kun.”

Well, I was certainly nervous about what he would say when I first met him. But after talking to him, I found out that he has a mischievous side, and above all, he is a kind person who truly cares about Kanade and Sumire-san. And he was thinking about me, as well.

“Papa! I won’t let you have my brother!”

Well, while I was talking to Masaki-san like that, Kanade hugged me and said so. Masaki-san, who was being stared at, laughed and patted Kanade’s head.

“Actually, I suggested to Hayato-kun to consider Kanade as his wife, but he turned me down…”

“Papa! I wasn’t… but… is… that so?”

Noo… What have you done Masaki-san!!

Kanade stared at me with a genuinely sad look on her face, and I glared at Masaki-san because of the strange comment he made. As we were staring at each other, Masaki-san and Sumire-san scoffed at us.

“Oh well. You know, even if that’s the case now, when Kanade-chan grows up to be more respectable, wouldn’t it be nice for her to become Hayato-kun’s bride?”

“Bride… I’ll be my brother’s… Hauu.”(E/N: Omochikaeri~!)

“Kanade-chan!?”

Oh, Kanade passed out with her eyes rolled back.

Although Kanade managed to regain her composure, her face turned red and she glanced at me, our eyes met, and then she quickly looked away.

“Haha, well, let’s go home around here today. Kanade and Sumire too, let’s go!”

“Yeah. Kanade, let’s go, okay?”

“Uh, yes…”

I turned around and waved at Kanade, and she smiled and waved me back..

I looked at the three of them as they left, and then turned my attention to the three ladies looking at them.

“Shall we go home, as well?”

“I agree.”

“Yeah.”

“Okay.”

I will never forget the joy of coming home with someone like this. I wonder if Arisa and Aina saw my smile so they embraced my hands as I started to walk away.

“Hehe, we’ll always be together.”

“Yes, we are. We’ll be together forever and ever.”

They both stared at me and told me so.

I was so happy to hear those words that I couldn’t help my cheeks loosen naturally. Sakuna-san didn’t say anything and looked at us with a smile, to which I asked the girls around me to move away a little and opened my arms for Sakuna-san.

“… Fufu, it’s hard to tell which one of us is older then.”

Chuckling, Sakuna-san happily jumped into my chest.

“Un~… Then, we should as well.”

“Yes. Let’s do that.”

They embraced me as I was hugging Sakuna-san, covering me from both sides.

“… You see.”

As each of the girls looks up at me, I open my mouth, remembering what happened a while ago.

“I’ve been told by you three that you will never let me go, or rather, that I should just drown in you… But now let me tell you something as well… I will also never ever let the three of you out of my grasp..”

… A bit heavy, but that’s my resolve.

A normal person might think it was a weird statement, but as I expected, the girls reacted differently.

“Of course~ You have to♪”

“Yeah. Keep me tied up close to you.”

“Ufufu, that’s an absolute promise♪”

The promise was truly like a contract, a curse to spend the rest of our lives together.

The days that followed were hectic but still blissful.

I’ve always had the girls by my side… 

Aina often invited Kanade to play with us, so she and I had more time spent together.

I had heard many stories about my father’s parents, but since Kanade didn’t want me to listen, I wasn’t told much anymore. Guess that’s how much they have been disliked by their granddaughter.

“Hey, Hayato-kun, is there anywhere you want to go?”

As usual, we had just finished dinner and were sitting around talking when Aina asked me about it while looking at a pamphlet recommending a trip. 

I would be happy to go anywhere as long as I can go with everyone, but I’ll have to think about it.

“Would it be okay if I asked Kanade-chan as well?”

“Yeah, of course. It’ll be wonderful.”

I’m really starting to spend more time with Kanade now.

As I was thinking I heard Sakuna-san patting her stomach and saying the following.

“You see everyone, I found out something today—-“

Well, a lot of things are going to happen in the future, no doubt.

But there will definitely be a lot of happiness in it… 

We are all connected by a strong bond that is sure enough to assure us that we will all be happy no matter what happens.

“Be happy, Hayato.”

“Be happy. We’ll be watching over you.”

… Yeah, Please continue to watch over me.

Because I’ll be so happy that everyone will envy me.

It was a dark and warm love, but I was really happy with it…

Oh yeah, about the pumpkin headgear that brought me and the girls together, for some reason it has remained at the memorial site for a long time. Kanade and her family were surprised when they came to visit the memorial altar, but I couldn’t just throw it away.

And so my daily life goes on.

I’ll be with these girls all the way to the… End, I guess. 

I wonder how to put those days I’ve been spending with girls into words… Hmm~.
