Chapter 279 Making Peace With The Past

Name:The Black Necromancer Author:Nilo_A
"Master." Kaladin bowed in front of Leon as the latter laid down on a soft, king sized bed in a large room within his mansion.

"Ah, Kaladin. You brought the report?" Leon asked, turning his head to the side of the bed where Kaladin was standing.

"Yes, Master." Kaladin nodded his head and unfolded the paper that had a summary of the frontline reports that had been compiled by the other commanders. He then proceeded to read out the contents of the report to Leon, while also telling him things from his own perspective.

Ever since the incident with Garrix several days ago, Leon had been unable to move or use magic. The best he could do was to keep his already summoned summons as they were, but it they fell in battle, he was not able to summon them again for the time being.

Because of his inability to do anything of use, he had stayed back in Fort White, while receiving periodic reports from the frontlines.

So far, the defenders had been able to stall the Demons, but the Demons were getting more serious with each passing day. The last battle had staged over a hundred thousand participants, with a lot of high ranking fighters. The A ranks had stayed off the battlefield so far, but everyone was anticipating their appearance, and it was predicted to be soon.

After Kaladin had finished his report, Leon sighed and shook his head. 'Being stuck here is so depressing.' He thought to himself and looked up at Kaladin. He could feel the buzz of energy radiating from his powerful and strong summon.

"You can leave now. I'll see you later." He dismissed Kaladin and the loyal Obsidian Skeleton bowed and left the room to Leon.

'I've been thinking a lot these past two days... I need an escape.' He thought to himself, and tried to use his connection to Michael to signal the God. A few moments later, Michael appeared at his side, a curious expression on his face. He was not as dismissive as he was ever since the matter with the <Paragon of Undeath>. Leon's feat two days ago when he took out Garrix and the army underneath the Undead was another thing that made Michael more responsive to Leon.

"Ah, I thought you were going to ignore me." Leon grinned and Michael rolled his eyes.

"What is it? I have things to do, you know." Michael folded his arms as he smile fell away. He could tell that Leon had something important to tell him.

"I was wondering if this would be a good time to cash in on my wish that you owe me." Leon went straight to the point.

"Hmm? Are you ready after all this time?" Michael was a bit surprised. After all this time, Leon had not tried to cash in on the wish that he was owed, so this sudden request was a bit surprising.

"Yes. I have nothing to do, and I've been thinking of what to spend that wish on. I think I finally have a good idea of what I want to use it on." Leon smiled a bit, the corners of his jaw raising up ever so slightly.

"I see... Well, tell me what it is you want, and I shall grant it." Michael held his chin and nodded.

"...I want to visit Earth, my old world." Leon said quietly after a bit of thought.

"..." Michael just stared at Leon, a bit dumbfounded. He had not expected that.

"What would make you want to visit Earth? It is in the past, and should not hold any sway over you at this time." Michael inquired, truly curious about the driving force behind Leon's reasoning.

"Well... To be honest, I never made peace with my departure from Earth. My work colleagues cared so much. I remember the last thing I saw was Megan crying over me while telling me to hold on." Leon sighed, recalling the last moments before his passing.

"...Very well, then. I will grant you temporary access back to Earth to make peace with your mind." Michael sighed and rubbed the bridge of his nose. He was thinking of how he would explain this to Fazir, as he needed the Major God's assistance in crossing worlds.

"I will return soon, prepare yourself." Michael said and vanished in a curtain of silver light, returning to the Celestial Realm where the Gods resided.

After Michael left, Leon sighed again and looked up at the ceiling of his room. He went to work with contacting all he needed to contact and prepare them for his absence.

Soon, Leonidas, Jet and Richard, the three closest A ranks to Leon, appeared in Leon's room. The Beastkin Emperor strode into Leon's room with wide steps and a serious expression on his face. He stopped by Leon's bed with a frown.

"I heard you plan to leave for some time? Where to?" Leonidas demanded.

"Calm down. We should ask nicely." Richard chuckled and patter the Emperor's shoulder.

"Nicely? He is in no condition to travel! If he was at his peak and was still taken back then, that only means it is a hundred times more dangerous now that he is in this state." Leonidas huffed, showing his concern.

Jet shook his head as he stepped up to the side of the two others. He looked Leon up and down before speaking. "Do you need an escort?" He asked. He did not even try to change Leon's mind, as he knew it would be pointless. If it was that easy to change Leon's mind, then he would not have fought Leon back in the Azure Plains in Divinity's Bout.

"No, I don't need an escort. I am going with someone powerful enough to deter all threats." Leon smiled and shook his head at his closest friend.

"I see. Well, I wish you the best." Jet nodded and turned with a small smile. He was about to leave when Michael appeared, with another person this time.

Fazir's golden eyes scanned the room as he appeared, just a step behind Michael, taking the three A ranks by surprise.
