Chapter 143 A Bony Issue

Name:The Black Necromancer Author:Nilo_A
Time flew by quickly. Floors were cleared faster as a greater number of B rank powerhouses entered the Tower of Trials. There was only a handful of floors left and the battle for who would conquer them was great.

At this time, Leon was already on the forty eighth floor. From the forty first floor upwards, a person could choose what floor they wanted to go to between the forty first and forty ninth. The last floor would not be open unless all nine floors had been cleared. Whenever a floor among those nine was cleared, then a notification would pop up to alert all the competitors.

? So far, only two of the nine had been cleared, and that was because Leon and Jet were not in any particular hurry. Unless at least five floors were cleared, they would not feel any pressure. They had that much confidence in their ability to compete for the bountiful treasures of the fiftieth floor.

With the competition being this intense, many people from around the world were paying attention to this event. A good portion of them had tuned in to the happenings of the forty eighth floor to witness the powerful, unknown Undead Necromancer. Those from the Demon Continent were even more invested in the fight. Especially the Undead Kings. They had a personal stake in finding out who this new, powerful Undead was. None of them had admitted to knowing of this powerful talent, which irked the seven Undead Kings in equal manner.

This powerful new Undead was only just B rank, but he possessed a huge amount of strength. If he was allowed to reach A rank, then stopping him would be difficult. Even if they could put him down before he managed to threatened their rule, they could easily tell that it would be a costly endeavor.

"Why must we stand against him? If we manage to gain his service, then we can do even more than what we accomplished during the Great Shift." One of the Undead Kings spoke. The one that had spoken went by the name Hanzo. He was a four meter tall, Demon Undead. Two bony horns curled upwards above his head, and red flames blazed within his skull, giving him a menacing, bloodthirsty look. Despite his looks and his Demonic heritage, he was a rather calm person and possessed a great, strategic mind. It was thanks to his skills that the Great Shift had been such a success.

The Great Shift had been an operation carried out by the major powers of the Demon Continent ten years ago. The goal of the operation was to claim more land for themselves, while pushing against some of the smaller nations around the Central Continent. The nations that they had claimed had been based on an island. When it had fallen, it opened up more avenues for a further encroachment when the time was right. There had been a devastating battle while trying to reclaim the islands, but the Demons had firmly grasped the island.

The events which became known as the Great Shift had been the trigger for many violent wars and battles between not only Demons and humans, but also many other races. The ruins where Leon had woken up was also close to the site of one such battle.

A heavy aura spread around Hanzo, threatening to choke out the flame of his existence, but he stood firm. He did not get where he was by hiding his thoughts and stepping back when he was challenged.

The one whose peak stood at the highest amongst them, Dion, turned around to look at Hanzo. The aura that flared around him was so strong that the space around him shattered completely, before reforming within seconds. He was the person who advocated against Leon joining their ranks the most.

The reason for this was quite simple. Although it was also very selfish. Each of the seven had gotten where they were through countless years of hard work and suffering. They had built up legacies that added clout to their names. It had not been until they stepped into the realm of A ranks that the mountain peaks where their thrones resided actually reacted. But this B rank Undead had already caused it to react. At least, that was what Dion believed.

"Are you questioning my authority?" Dion asked, his voice dangerously low. Dion was a two meter tall humanoid Undead, but it was mostly just a fa?§ade. His real form was powerful and terrifying. Only the six other Undead Kings knew of his true form. He had single handedly beat all six of them at once without losing the upper hand throughout the fight. This proved his strength, but none of the others were weak either. They all possessed their pride and would not let him run over them in deciding important matters like this.

"I agree with Hanzo this time." Someone suddenly spoke up. An Undead King that possessed almost delicate features stepped forward. Her skull was on the longer side, but it gave her an air of majesty that she obviously seemed to enjoy. She did not wear her armor, but wore exquisite back robes with blue stripes running down the side of it, Various precious minerals decorated the high fur collar at her back.

Seeing that it would seem that the matter would be settled then and there, the others began to express their stance on the matter. Overall, four people were in favor of roping Leon over to their side while the remaining three, including Dion, were in support of doing away with Leon.

A heated argument erupted between both sides but Dion remained quiet. He focused on thinking for a while before finally speaking. Raising his hand and snapping his fingers was enough for him to get everyone's attention.

"I have decided. We will..." Dion explained what he had thought up while the other Skeleton Kings were arguing. He felt that it had a good chance of working. That way, both sides could get what they wanted.
