Chapter 131 The Darkness Ahead

Name:The Black Necromancer Author:Nilo_A
"How much longer do we have before it happens?" A deep voice rang through the hall.

Several figures were gathered in a medium sized hall that was richly decorated and scented of strong incense. The one who spoke was none other than Dardan, the beastly God that had spoken to Michael and Asteria a short while ago. His large, meaty arms were crossed over his wide chest as he addressed the other major Gods that were present in their meeting.

Everyone's eyes turned to the mighty red haired God that stood on one side of the hall. His golden eyes glowed with power as he spoke. "A year at the very least." He said simply, but those six words caused a heavy tension to fall on everyone's backs.

"How are our preparations?" Beside the man, a red haired Goddess that gave off a more subtle vibe asked. Asteria. She was a major God as well.

"Everything has been going as planned. We are grooming our champions, but their growth continues to be an uphill battle." Another God spoke. His voice was wavy and hoarse, but he was very powerful. All the Gods present were. After all, only the major Gods qualified for this meeting. This God in particular was even more beastly in appearance than Dardan. He was a floating amalgamation of flesh that possessed a dozen waving tentacles sticking out of his flesh. In the center of this floating mass of flesh was a single large eye.

The all seeing God, Tiphone, was one of the most powerful major Gods to exist. He had been around since the beginning of this world, so it was only normal that he had gathered a lot of power.

"We only have a few more years at most. We must do out best to raise worthy fighters. We were woefully unprepared for the coming calamities!" Dardan grunted. He had a few potential powerhouses that he was grooming, but just them would not be enough. He turned his eyes to Fazir. "Fazir, old brother. You are a powerful God. Tell me, do you have any promising prospects under you?"

"I have a few promising seeds." Fazir nodded, but did not elaborate.

"Tell us, how good are they?"

Fazir remained silent for a moment, closing his eyes and opening them slowly. His mystic eyes focused on the thread of fate that was linked to a certain undead being, and light flashed through them.

"They are good." He smiled. To the other Gods, that smile meant that he expected great things from his promising seeds, so they calmed down.

p "Very well, then. We shall continue to plan around this and hope for the best. We shall also speed up the training of our seeds." Another major God said.

A powerful gust of hot wind washed over Leon's face as he watched Jet do battle with a pair of dinosaurs. The two Flame Raptors displayed a dizzying level of teamwork, weaving their tails around each other to land devastating surprise attacks against Jet. Their scales glowed with a blue light underneath, and they occasionally breathed out fire to ward off some of his attacks. Sometimes, when he got close, their legs would whip out in devastating kicks that created small sonic booms.

Just then, Leon's senses warned him and he leaned back. His eyes were able to spot the division of scales on a raptor's tail as it passed over his head. He shook his head as he remembered that he had his own battle to fight.

Leon's armored body swiftly glided back over a gust of wind. He had his arms folded behind him to resist the temptation to get physical with the monsters. He wanted to bring them down solely with magic. He had not forgotten that his current major goal, aside from surviving Divinity's Bout, was to raise the levels of his skills. His magical skills especially.

Whoosh!

Two water whips waved wildly around Leon. He was using water magic at the moment because the dinosaur monsters possessed a high resistance for fire magic and other heat based attacks. Water was the opposite of fire, so he felt it was only right to use water magic to fight this time. Next time, he could use another type of magic. He had already decided that he would use water magic only whenever he needed to fight on this floor.

Crack!

Boom!

The water whips cracked against the scales of one of the monsters he was fighting, breaking its scales and making way for a billow of steam and hot blood to pour out from the injury.

Kiiek!!!

The monster screeched loudly and breathed out a plume of fire. It dashed straight at Leon, and he noticed that the scales on its feet had turned strange. They had a metallic sheen to it, indicating the activation of a skill. Leon had witnessed the raptor's Rapid Blade Kick multiple times already so he knew what to expect from it.

The mana in the air gathered together, and a wall of water was birthed from it. The wall of water turned into a solid, frigid ice that stood in the way of the dashing raptor. The monster noticed the obstacle in its path and activated its skill. Its leapt forward, with its legs spinning like a tornado. The moment one heated leg came into contact with the ice wall, the outermost layers of the wall shattered into pieces.

However, instead of the ice shards flying away, they melted completely and stuck to the leg of the raptor. Although a good amount of the water was instantly evaporated, more and more water continued to wrap around the legs of the raptor until its lower legs were completely wrapped up, then spikes of ice stabbed into the monster's legs from within the closure of the water around its legs.

Frost spread within its blood, freezing the boiling blood that had been supercharged by its innate skills.

KIIEEEK!!!

The monster opened its mouth to screech so loud that no one heard the sound of something tearing through the air. All they saw at he last moment was a large, spinning spike of ice drilling into the head of the raptor through its open mouth.
