405 Tala’s tragic hair loss backstory

Zi Xingxi let the woman writhe on the ground until she was satisfied that Tala had suffered enough. After the mental torment ended Tala breathed heavily her body covered in sweat.

She opened her eyes blearily as she clutched her fingers tightly. Tala sat up seeming in a daze as she began to speak in a low voice that was more of a whisper.

“Why couldn’t it be me,” she said and Zi Han pressed the tip of his tongue on his cheek wondering what she was on about.

“I knew he was destined to be the next emperor but I still liked him. I knew he would marry some noblewoman in the future best suited for him but I still couldn’t help but get close to him. I was so in love with him that I confessed my feelings but he rejected me. At the time I thought it must be because of my family background and that my status was too low so I accepted it. I asked him if we could be friends and he agreed,” she said her eyes seeming distant.

None of them knew what this had to do with losing her hair but they didn’t interrupt her. They let her have one last stage before she died.

“We were friends for the rest of high school but in my heart, I hoped our years of getting along would at least move him so he would disregard my family status and be with me. But when I confessed again after graduation he rejected me and told me that we couldn’t be friends anymore because I was being friends with him with a motive... can you believe that? Years of all my efforts were washed down the drain and he even wanted to cut me off.”

“My reaction then was surprisingly mature. I apologized to him and promised I wouldn’t bother him again but my heart was in turmoil. I watched him from afar and thought I could finally move on from my first love but... ahahaha who was I kidding? When he announced his relationship with that bitch my heart seethed with anger. I thought maybe, just maybe she was from a top-tier family and that she could bring benefits to him when he ascended to the throne but no... no no no, she was an abandoned child from the slums.”

“She had nothing. No family, no home, just a makeshift house in some garbage star somewhere. If he didn’t care about someone’s background then why not pick me then? I knew him before she knew him so why couldn’t it be me?”

Zi Xingxi snorted coldly upon hearing this. Is that how love worked? Was it a first come first serve type of thing? Was it an I saw him first so he is mine type of situation? No... It had everything to do with the heart so she just couldn’t understand this woman’s logic.

.....

“I watched her get everything that should have been mine and it made me so angry I just couldn’t stand it. Maybe this was the type of woman he liked. Maybe he liked an oval-shaped face with grey-silver hair and dimples. So I went to get surgery to change my face shape and got some dimples. I tried to dye my hair silver but my roots would grow out quickly. Her hair was silver from root to tip thus I went for surgery to change my hair colour perm-,” she said only for her to get rudely cut off by the very people who had been listening to her seriously.

“Uh shit... you were right,” said Zi Han while Zi Xingxi swore,

“Damnit.”

“Pay up, pay up. Grandpa needs a new outfit for my little Nim Nim,” said Grandpa Zi and the little Nimsel that was having a nap shivered subconsciously.

“You do realise that he is my pet, right?” said Zi Han wondering why everyone monopolized his baby.

“He is our pet, ours,” said Zi Feiji and Zi Han chuckled before taking another sip of his drink.

Tala looked at these people with a touch of anger in her eyes. She gathered up the courage and said, “I wasn’t done explaining my story.”

Zi Xingxi leaned back in her seat and said, “We don’t need to know the rest. That’s because we already know what happened next.”

“I know you have this thing about fulfilling your duty and stuff but why do you care so much about the royal family? They are all dead and already turned to ash so why bother?” said Tala not understating why they were obsessed with taking vengeance.

Zi Han sneered while Zi Xingxi got up her expression in no way friendly. She carried on her a dark aura that would have one’s flight instincts kicking in.

Zi Xingxi crouched before her with a slight quirk at the corner of her lips and said, “You know why we care so much?”

Looking at the touch of murderousness in the woman’s eyes, Tala trembled while cursing herself for carelessly opening her mouth.

Zi Xingxi suddenly grasped Tala’s neck and strangled her tightly blocking her airway. Tala panickingly fought Zi Xingxi but Zi Xingxi was the least bit shaken. She tightened her grip and banged the back of Tala’s head against the wall several times until she was no longer fighting.

After venting out all her anger Zi Xingxi pulled her close and whispered, “Because Yeoh Jun was my husband and this boy right here was his son.... Even if we weren’t in a relationship I would still do the very same thing,” before harshly tossing her to the ground.

Zi Xingxi got up and fixed her hair her eyes still bloodshot. “I don’t think I can wait until tomorrow. She has already lived long enough,” said Zi Xingxi before she turned to leave.

Secretary K immediately dragged the woman out of there. She was kicking and screaming but the people in the room ignored it like this was an everyday thing.

As the screams grew distant Zi Feiji turned to his grandson and asked, “... I heard you met with Yi Chen. How was it?”

Zi Han’s finger touching the glass froze.

He didn’t expect his grandfather to say anything about it.
