322 Fiance not boyfriend

“How long are we going to do this? It is fuckin freezing,” complained Shorty as they faced the northern mountains that were all white. It was a sea of all white in all directions.

Shaun handed him a flask of hot cocoa while saying, “Maybe it will be a rotational system or something.”

Zi Han who had been sitting in the chair enjoying the view spun around and said, “We are going to be stuck here forever. At least I have a boyfriend. I won’t get bored unlike you two.”

“Fiance not boyfriend,” said Yi Chen as he walked in on this conversation.

Zi Han’s lips quivered as they moved into a stiff smile. “Yes, fiance,” replied Zi Han recalling how that word was being thrown around all the time now.

For example, whenever he asked him to get anything Yi Chen would be like, “Yes fiance.”

It was yes fiance this yes fiance that. Zi Han was starting to regret proposing right before this mission. It meant that until the novelty wore off Yi Chen would throw this word around constantly.

Yi Chen bit his lower lip before saying, “You want me to carry you out? It’s our rotation.”

Zi Han, “...”

“My legs work just fine.... fiance,” said Zi Han while standing up to leave.

Yi Chen followed behind him asking, “Did you have to say it like that?”

“Like what?” asked Zi Han as they exited the room leaving behind two confused faces. As the sliding door closed with a whoosh Zi Han’s voice trailed over saying, “Wait, wait, wait... Yi Chen put me down.”

The two people looked at each other feeling very jealous right now. “I need to get a girlfriend,” said Shorty while sitting down where Zi Han was sitting before.

“Sure, just not my sister. She is off limits,” said Shaun as he sat down next to him enjoying the view.

The two squads had been assigned posts near each other so they shared the same base that was hovering high up in the sky like a watch tower. It’s a great thing that they were sharing the base with Hela’s squad rather than Evan’s otherwise they might be tension in the base.

While these two were taking a well deserved break, Zi Han was soaring the skies with Igneous heading towards their post. Behind him was Yi Chen and from the looks of it, he was about to challenge Yi Chen to a race. Zi Han who had been carried out of the base was still mad about it thus he picked up speed leaving Yi Chen in the dust.

Yi Chen who didn’t even want to race with him was a little surprised. He opened up a communication channel and said to Zain and Omari, “You guys can head back. We will be there in half a minute.”

The pair who were building a snowman outside their post glanced at each other. “Yes captain,” said Zain while Omari was kicking away the snowman.

If Yi Chen found out what they were really doing while they were supposed to be patrolling they would be punished to train a few more hours than prescribed. It was only after they had cleared all evidence did they leave their post.

Yi Chen sped up Raylan while asking his future groom, “Baby, what are you doing?”

Zi Han, who was flying into the vast sea of white with a smile on his face replied, “What does it look like I am doing? You can’t keep up can you?”

Yi Chen sneered with a silly little grin on his face before saying, “It seems last night I didn’t do a very good job. I didn’t tire you out enough.”

As he said this Raylan picked up speed ripping through the sky like a sharp blade. The snow on the ground parted like the red sea as Raylan caught up with Igneous.

“Hahaha, you wish. You are the one who couldn’t keep up with me last night,” said Zi Han his expression devious. He knew he was playing with fire but he also enjoyed being burnt so.... yep.

“Oh no, you di.... I wi..... tonig... you,” replied Yi Chen but the communication started breaking down thus Zi Han heard nothing. He slowed his speed with a furrow in between his brows while inspecting his screen.

“Iggy, what the hell is going on?” he asked and Igneous who wished he could erase all of the recorded interactions between it and its old master replied,

“Sir, I thought we agreed that name is very inappropriate.” It was because of those audios that Zi Han started getting used to addressing him as Iggy.

“I know but Iggy makes you sound so cute,” said Zi Han while tapping on the floating screen around him.

Igneous finished running a diagnostic test and began to report. “All systems are fully functional. It seems we are currently in a zone with a transmission impairing device. We can’t communicate with the outside world.”

Zi Han bit the soft skin inside his lips before asking, “Show me the radius.”

In a few seconds, a place on the map with a radius of five kilometers showed up on the screen. This place was very remote, to begin with, so why on earth would there be this kind of interference? Just like the south pole was to earth, these snowy mountains on Loch Ness Star weren’t fully explored and held mysteries.

The reason for this was because it housed the most volatile substance in the federation and no one knew what could set this place off so it was better to leave it alone. But this transmission impairment device was definitely man-made not natural. Zi Han was about to turn back when Raylan appeared right behind him.

Yi Chen who was panicking for a moment felt so relieved that he almost hugged Zi Han through his mech.

“You had me worried for a moment. Why did you cut me off?” asked Yi Chen seeming truly aggrieved. No matter how upset or annoyed Zi Han would be with him Yi Chen had one rule and that was no blacklisting each other or cutting off all communication.
