4. Roller Coaster Game in Real Life(1)

Count Charles Bauce, the mastermind of the assassins sent after me, was sentenced to exile on a deserted island. He was told he would have to fend for himself without a servant and would only be able to see his family once a year.

Being born and raised as a noble his entire life, this punishment is more humiliating than death, but what can he do? How dare he send assassins?

I had no sympathy for him, so I dropped my interest in Count Bauce there. Who told you to live with a bad heart in the first place? A person should live a good life.

I raised my hand, wearing rings from my thumb to my little finger, and carefully examined the brilliance of the jewel.

“Everything looks fantastic on you. I can’t tell you what to take because there isn’t anything that isn’t suitable for you.”

Oh, ho ho ho!

The jewelry store’s owner smiled broadly. Even though I’m aware it was a flattering* smile, it still felt good.

*(Original word, Abu: The act of flirting or exaggerating in order to please others)

“This pearl isn’t very shiny.”

“Ah! You recognise it, as expected. Unfortunately, all of the higher-quality pearls were purchased by another lady.”

The owner clapped his hands at my question. I wriggled my brows at the phrase “were all bought.”

“Who bought them all?”

I went on a late-afternoon outing today. I intended to buy whatever I liked from the jewels representing the 12 months and matching the collection.

There are rubies, garnets, and even opals among the stones, but only one is missing. My jewelry box no longer contains any pearls.

Who took all the high-quality pearls? Who is that wealthy lady?

“Let’s see, young Lady Peridot Crisiona. She purchased all 15 of the fine pearls we had in stock.”

Villainess No. 1?

The jeweler, who was wearing sharp-looking glasses, unfolded a long piece of parchment and carefully read it. Because ‘Peridot Crisiona’ was written on the top, it appeared that everything that each of the ladies purchased was documented.

With a flushed expression, I removed the pearl ring and put it down. I can’t possibly look worse than she does.

“Are the rest of the rings here better than these?”

“Sure! They are all of the highest quality. They look fantastic on the lady!”

“Are they also better than the jewels Lady Crisiona has purchased so far?”

I knew it was a pointless competition, but I didn’t want to lose. Is this the fight on the red carpet? When I was unexpectedly robbed of what I wanted, I felt as though I had a Hollywood rival. Besides, isn’t she the one who set my favorite character in a trap that killed her?

Even though it was childish, I couldn’t see her in a good light. Losing to her is even more absurd now.

“Of course! Absolutely.”

“All right, then. I’ll buy everything from here to here, please deliver it to the mansion.”

I took the rings off quietly and placed them back in the jewelry box. The owner couldn’t help but smile broadly.

“Oh my, absolutely. I’ll do it. The total is 100 million and 892 gautes!”

“Oh, it wasn’t too expensive?”

“Yes! Because this is your first visit, I gave you a discount.”

“Great. I’ll pay you in cash once you’ve brought them all to the mansion.”

I raised my head noblely and got up from the sofa.

Normally, nobles call a jeweler to their home to purchase, but how would you enjoy the fun of shopping? Going to a fancy restaurant, eating, and walking on your own two feet are all part of the fun!

So I went out with Juliet. Everyone will have to walk on eggshells for the time being now that Charles Bauce has been punished. Sending assassins also requires perfect timing, you know.

“Ugh, it feels so good!”

Aside from spending more than a 100 million, the weather today was also very pleasant. Under the sun, Cat is dozing off on the waiting carriage’s roof. Today’s spring breeze is so pleasant that it’s ideal for going for a walk.

I climbed into the carriage, rolled up my skirts, and shouted loudly to Juliet in the driver’s seat.

“Let’s go buy a fan!”

“Alright!”

Dresses and shoes are all made by the madam and her assistants, who have set up a workroom in the mansion, but accessories had to be purchased separately.

This time we arrived at a fan and handkerchief shop with a mint-colored sign that says ‘Jenny & Jean’.

“Welcome!”

“Welcome, miss! This is Jenny & Jean!”

A clear voice welcomed me as I entered the room with a gentle ring of the bell.

The other ladies who were looking at the fans were startled when I looked at them, and the employees’ eyes widened slightly. I looked around the store, pretending not to notice all of their stares.

There were a lot of fans in the store.

A fan with a abundant of black ostrich feathers. A small white feathered fan.

Blue-dyed feather fans with leather underneath. The brightly coloured fans were all eye-catching.

I chose the one I liked best and spoke quietly to the staff.

“Is this where all the best-crafted fans are?”

“It is, indeed. We take pride in our fans.”

I really like the price of the gilded gold-studded fan. Dazzling diamonds were hung on the long tassel, adding to its luxury.

I approached the most expensive premium line fans and traced them by hand.

“Give me everything from here to there.”

There wasn’t much reason to look into it. Because I was going to buy everything anyway. Still, it’s a good idea to take a look around, isn’t it?”

“H-Hey, look at that. Did she really buy all of them?”

“But who exactly is she? Do you know who she is?”

“No, I don’t… but if it’s someone with a lot of money, I’m thinking of one of those…”

My back sting as the smiling employees quickly pack the products.

In their voice full of envy, there was no such thing as jealousy. They were literally envious.

I cast a glance behind me at them. Both were young ladies who reminded me of puppies; they had most likely come here to treat themselves.

I looked for the manager among the staff who were hurriedly packing my fans.

“Manager.”

“Yes, miss?!”

“Come here for a moment.”

The two ladies appeared almost enchanted by the fans being wrapped up by the employees’ skilled hands. It was so adorable that I secretly whispered into the manager’s ear.

“I’ll pay for two more fans, so give each of those ladies one premium fan.”

I straightened my back as I noticed the manager’s eyes widened and he nodded eagerly.

However, as I stood at the counter, looking out the window, something caught my attention. The building across the street is marked with an X in a bright red cloth, with a sign inserted in the middle.
