“One person…… a solo?”

Only one survivor came into my sight. Moreover, she appeared to be a woman with a small build.

It didn’t look like she was going to run away. So, there was no doubt that she was a survivor, not an ordinary person. But, she would have a hard time facing three D-rank monsters on her own.

Was there some mistake?

“Aoi! We are going to help!”

“Yes.”

Having seen the situation in front of me—as one might expect—I couldn’t turn a blind eye to it.

“We will help!”

I called out to the woman heading towards the monsters, but I realized she was making a surprised face after noticing me.

“Etto, you are……?”

“We happened to see that there were three D-rank monsters while we were on the way back from a subjugation request. And, after seeing you were alone, we came to help.”

“Ahh…… that’s why. Fufuu, I see~. So you came to help me. Well, since you are going so far out of your way, might as well take up your offer~.”

I thought she would be feeling more tense, but her attitude was more normal than I expected. And, she was completely unperturbed by the whole situation.

“Then, we will take on the two. Can I leave the remaining one to you?”

“You are going to face two lizardmen with just the two of you. Heh~, you are stronger than I thought~. All right, then, I will be in charge of the rearmost lizardman. Please take care of the rest.”

“Yes.”

Sure enough, she was composed even in front of the lizardmen. Although I was certain her rank was at least D, I wondered if she was actually a high ranker?

Anyway, my current priority was to deal with the lizardman in front of me.

This was my first time actually seeing a lizardman in person. It was smaller than an ogre. Although it had a humanoid figure, its body was covered with brown scales and it had the head of a lizard.

In its hand was a sword that was a size larger than my reinforced ceramic sword.

That appearance alone suggested that it specialized in close combat.

“[Lightning]. How about it? Is it effective?”

I used [Voltaic Fire] once in the earlier battle, so I have two shots left.

If I were to say something that could finish off a D-rank lizardman, it was none other than [Voltaic Fire]. So, I would like to use other skills to weaken the enemy as much as possible.

“Not yet, Rin-kun. [Wind Cutter].”

Aoi also unleashed a kill of her own, following my pace.

The wind blade attacked the lizardman, whose movements had stopped due to [Lightning], scraping off the scales on its body.

“It is hard.” (T/N: Hard in the physical sense.)

“No, it’s going well. Let’s keep this up.”

“Yes.”

I was convinced with just this first exchange of attacks… That even if the opponent was a D-rank monster I’d never seen before, I would still be able to defeat it if Aoi were by my side.

I fired [Lightning] again. But I saw that another lizardman was also heading toward me, so I activated [Lightning] once again to stop it.

“How about this? [Explosion] [Explosion].”

This time, Aoi shot explosive flames at the two lizardmen.

“GaaAAAaa!”

It’s working. Lizardmen raised a voice that sounded like a scream.
