Chapter 598

598 The sighting of the mysterious running man

Vincent, empowered by Overheat, cautiously descended the carriage while holding the pregnant female lizardman.

The leader understood what the problem might be as the woman Vincent was carrying not only had a contorted face, but the fabric covering her body and protecting her from the cold was wet.

“The time has come for a new life to be born. I will run to the mansion ahead of your guys.” Vincent moved his head around to look at all the soldiers and the coachman. “I do hope I will not need to hunt any of you for not delivering those inside to my property or hearing how they were touched.”

“Do not fear your lordship. I will not allow such actions to happen. But...” The leader scratched his head while briefly pausing. “Can’t we make the horses run? Won’t your lordship arrive sooner and safer than running?”

“I am faster than horses. Additionally, I do not want to cause an accident and hit a person. Not to mention the carriage or the horses sliding from losing their ground because of the snow or ice.” Vincent explained.

“I... I understand.” The leader said while doubting if Vincent’s words were true.

The leader pondered if Vincent’s words were the truth. Ordering them instead of becoming angry because of their behavior could have resulted in a grievous injury or death. However, there was no need to think deeply about what could’ve happened as the truth was soon laid before their eyes.

Vincent lowered his body and held the female lizardman with a firm hold. His legs and muscles tightened, and his veins bulged. After the preparation to run was complete in less than a second, Vincent bolted forward at an incredible speed.

The soldiers, the coachman, and the audience observing what was happening saw Vincent’s body blurred before a small cloud of dust and snow appeared.

.....

After hearing multiple heavy footsteps, Vincent couldn’t be seen anymore.

“Did you see that? We never had a chance against that amount of power and speed. We should be thankful he didn’t use one of us or all of us as an example.” The leader said. He went to close the carriage door and later rode his horse.

“Let’s go.” He ordered.

The soldiers glared at the people looking at them. Forget what you saw or else, was the sign language they tried to mean.

The soldiers rode their horses, and the carriage later departed. This time the soldiers were dead set on delivering the four slaves in one piece as their life depended on it.

They now knew without a slider of doubt Vincent wasn’t someone to mess with. Appearing bad in front of the Blackheart family was a little payment to live for another day.

In the middle of the street was a man running in the middle of the street. The people walking on the sidewalks saw a strange and mysterious person, yet they couldn’t tell what race the person was.

The person had a pair of brightly shining eyes, and his green arms also had a green glow. From his mouth escaped green steam and the people thought it was smoke.

Watching the person leaving a trail of green steam was making the people believe the man was on fire. The people became so bewildered and astonished that most overlooked the female lizardman being carried by this mysterious person.

Vincent was running forward when a building blocked his path, yet it wasn’t going to stop him nor slow him down. He jumped and used his three stats in unison to jump and run the vertical wall.

His strength pushed his body upwards. His speed allowed him to keep his momentum and not lose against gravity. His perception allowed him to time his movement for vertical wall climbing to succeed.

The people soon saw the person running up the wall. After the mysterious person arrived on the roof with ease, they noticed the building wasn’t damaged.

“This is going to be rough, but please bear for a little longer. I will do my best to cushion your body.” Vincent told the female lizardman.

“I... can take... it...” She responded.

[She is a brave mother. Vincent, keep moving forward for now. I will tell you later when to change directions.]

-I am counting on you.-

Vincent was relieved to have the GPS Kazumi leading him in the correct direction. He felt motivated to run and jump until his body became exhausted, all to arrive at their destination while giving the female lizardman a comfortable ride as he possibly could at the moment.

Vincent focused on his entire body to heighten his control. Vincent moved his eyes and looked at the best possible route of the roof road in front of them.

Vincent took a sept and used the other to burst forward. He ran to the roof’s edge and jumped on the next roof. One roof after the other, Vincent was heading toward the Emerald Lionhart Mansion.

Not only was Vincent traveling with the least possible chance of being seen and causing a commotion similar to running up a wall, but traveling without interruptions improved his traveling speed further. Now they could arrive quicker than expected.

While Vincent was heading toward the mansion, in the carriage were four worried slaves.

The male lizardman was holding his hands together, and his feet fidgeted from panic. The other three were both worried about the male lizardman in front of them and the female lizardman being carried to the mansion.

“I heard from the despicable humans who mistreated us that you can’t talk. Don’t worry. Our owner is a trustable man. If he is the person we scattered beastman was waiting for, he is a man to be trusted.” The deer woman said. She hoped the male lizardman could feel better and begin to think positively.

“I... I want to... believe he is different...” The mermaid said slowly, as if she doubted her words.

“Your first king was also from another world. Doesn’t that also make our owner an important person for your people?” The deer woman questioned.

The mermaid didn’t know how to respond. She could feel he was different, yet she only knew Vincent for less than half a day. If Vincent’s kindness was a trick or not, the mermaid didn’t know.

“Horg, argoa.” The orc said.

“You want to try believing in him?” The deer woman nodded while continuing, “Well, an ordinary owner who is a noble wouldn’t do any of this to make us trust him since they can force orders on us at any time.”

The deer woman looked at the male lizardman. She noticed his feet didn’t fidget as much as before. Additionally, the frown on his face relaxed.

“Looks like you have decided to place your trust in our owner.” The deer woman said. She looked at the orc and mermaid while continuing, “We can never be sure how our lives will be, but they were acting as if their words were true. We can only hope they will treat us well.”

The four slaves felt hopeful their lives were about to change upon arriving at the property of their new owner, yet they were also afraid. After raising their expectations of a possible better life awaiting them, the emotional damage would be tremendous if they were to be betrayed.

*Emerald Lionheart Mansion*

Vincent could see the mansion from afar. “We have arrived.” He told the female lizard woman.

The female lizardman suddenly bit Vincent’s arm. She moaned in pain as the hot blood entered her mouth, yet she didn’t release her sharp teeth from Vincent’s upper arm.

[What is happening? Why is she biting you after telling her we have arrived? Is the movement going to put her in labor this instant?]

Vincent resisted the pain while not minding Kazumi’s questions. Vincent landed on a rooftop as nimble as possible and looked at his arm. Green steam was rising from his injury while hot mutated blood dripped in the female lizardman’s mouth.

Vincent recalled watching dramas where the woman would grab her husband’s hand tightly and apply pressure to release some of the pain of childbirth. He concluded this was a similar act to alleviating some of the pain by applying pressure on his arm with her sharp teeth.

Vincent ran to the edge and jumped down. He ran to the gate and met with Lenn and Renn.

The twins couldn’t believe what they were seeing. Vincent was carrying a lizardman while she was biting his arm. They could see green steam escaping his wound, and the lizardman’s teeth were green from Vincent’s mutated blood.

“Teacher! What is happening!?” Urgently asked Lenn.

“That lizardman is biting your arm. What are you allowing the lizardman to injure you?” Renn angrily questioned. He wanted to do something, yet Vincent still carried the lizardman despite being bitten.

“Lenn, Renn. A carriage with soldiers from the Blackheart family will arrive sometime later. They are bringing four mistreated slaves I bought. One of you lead them inside and let the male lizardman come to find me.” Vincent requested.

“But teacher, what is happening?”

“Yeah. What is your hand being bitten?”

“Lenn. Renn. She is pregnant and is about to give birth with a very weak body. If I can help her by biting me, then I will allow it to happen.” Vincent said while facing the wall at the side. “My wives are coming on foot. They will arrive later.”

After Vincent said these last words, he ran to the wall with less than five steps and easily arrived at the top.
