Chapter 279 The Fighters And The Collector

Name:Spirit Soul Author:HideousGrain
"How the hell could that happen?" Kyle asked in confusion as he looked around.

A total of four battlefields had formed around him with one person in his group fighting against hundreds of beasts at the same time.

Arashi was with Jaden, aiding him in the fight against a group of 300 Mid Vitae stage Jackals. Kyle's Spirit soul injured all of them in the first minute of the battle before leaving them for Jaden to kill. Arashi would only intervene when it was really necessary, and to collect the deceased beast's soul.

On the other hand, Kyle had a much more arduous task.

He was flying above everyone else and watched the situation from a high altitude.

"I want to fight as well…" He grumbled while flying around to collect the ascending souls of the beasts Beatrice, Yasmine, and Selene had killed.

There were more than a thousand beasts that the three girls fought spread out over the three battlefields.

Each of them wanted to be the strongest, have the highest kill count, and be the fastest to finish the batch of beasts that attacked them.

Kyle suffered under their desires because he was forced to keep flying around to grasp all the souls. He didn't want to waste a single death. That was the bare minimum he could do to respect their death, which was ironic.

Trying to avert his focus from collecting the souls of the deceased, Kyle quickly noticed that the three women improved rapidly. The pressure they caused on the others was high enough to squeeze out the girls' hidden talents.

Even Beatrice seemed to be improving, which was quite difficult, considering that she was the most talented and the most experienced in fighting.

Yasmine had been the laziest and least trained Cultivator in their group until she met Kyle and the others.

She finally gained a reason to become stronger and turned into a formidable fighter. This was something Kyle could clearly see. Yasmine was trying hard to use her phoenix fire sparsely because it was something she was born with and her inborn talent to control it was terrifyingly high.

If she wanted to, she could use her entire mana to exterminate hundreds of beasts at the same stage as her in a matter of seconds. It would put her body under lots of stress and it was very taxing but as long as she wished to do so, Yasmine was capable of doing it!

However, right now, she wanted to fight fair, meaning that she wouldn't use her trump card until the others would do it as well.

She manifested several fireballs, and threw them in specific areas that were the most crowded before her focus went into close combat.

Yasmine slaughtered her way through her opponents with exceptional precision. In most battles against forces at around her cultivation base, she required only three strikes to obliterate her opponent. Yasmine could deliver these three strikes in less than a second as long as she used a tiny bit of her phoenix fire affinity to boost her arm's movement speed in an instant.

The speed with which she could kill the wolves she was fighting could be considered extremely fast. But Kyle could also see that Selene and Beatrice were even faster at killing their opponents.

Selene was like a madmen. She didn't even try to defend and barged through her opponents like a bull. Her daggers were already crimson red in color, just like her clothes. However, her eyes were the most frightening.

Selene didn't even think of looking left and right. She just slashed at her opponents whenever she saw the tiniest opportunity.

Even if there was just a small gap between the defensive of her opponents and their vital spot, Selene was able to find it. The accuracy with which she fought made more than up for her lack in combat experience. She could precisely control her darkness affinity, while simultaneously circulating primordial energy through her body to amplify her physical strength.

Selene's cultivation talent might not be all that great but her inborn battle awareness and overall combat talent were exceptional.

She was truly talented as an Assassin, and Kyle was definitely happy that she was on his side.

'Well this looks more like a Mindless Berserker wielding daggers, and not like an Assassin, smoothly and gracefully cutting their opponents' throat before disappearing in the darkness of the night…but whatever,' Kyle thought with a smirk as he flew past her battlefield.

Beatrice was the only one, who fought in a rather relaxed manner. She was trying to use her blood armor more often. Right now, she had also manifested her blood wings, using the wings of Ilusia technique.

Her way of using these wings was quite interesting in the battle Kyle looked at. Beatrice was not even flying but her wings were growing and growing.

Beatrice used the blood all around her to nourish the blood wings, just to release the vast majority of blood after forming them into razor-sharp feathers. She used her opponents' blood to kill more of her enemies. This was cruel, but it was also very effective.

It didn't require much mana, and as long as she could maintain her blood wings, the blood that was added to the wings would slowly be turned into blood she could use in whatever way she wanted to.

Fighting with a calm mind, Beatrice's enemies fell over one after another. They were killed with a single razor-sharp blood feather that pierced through the skull, arteries, or the heart of the beasts all around him.

Beatrice was in the middle of everyone and attacked from all directions but she never lost control of the situation around her.

All of the fights around Kyle allowed him to learn more about his partners, especially how they changed, in what way they improved most, and what they were lacking.

The girls had fixed many of their issues. Of course, they were not without flaws, and Kyle could pick out a few of them at once.

Beatrice, for example, was too focused on the use of her blood affinity. For thousands of years, she had focused the most on her blood affinity. Now that she gained a new function of the blood affinity, the blood armor, she wanted to reach perfect mastery with it.

She didn't even think about entering close combat. This was not necessarily wrong as long as her blood affinity was powerful enough. However, once a beast or Cultivator was to be able to block her blood affinity, it would be possible for her to get into trouble.

This was certainly not something Kyle wanted to happen to her. Nonetheless, he knew that she was a powerful close combatant as well. It would only become problematic if she were to lose her touch. This was bound to happen if she were to focus solely on her blood affinity.

Selene was the complete opposite. She used her primordial energy the most. Her darkness affinity was used only sparingly, merely to coat her weapon, enhance its lethality, or for other minor tasks.

The most she did with it was to jump through shadows. However, this was a remarkable technique. If she were to focus on improving this unique technique, Selene wouldn't have to fight radicals as she was currently doing. It was not necessary for her to endanger herself like that, after all!

Yasmine, on the other hand, held back too much. She used both her phoenix fire and fought close combat. However, her battle spirit was not really awoken. She fought with all her might, in her opinion, but to Kyle, it looked like she was not actually giving her best.

As for Jaden, he was truly giving his best. One could clearly see that Jaden wanted to improve, and that was an enjoyable sight.

"Go, little Lohar, fighting!"
