Midnight Snack (2)

Not many students were outside behind the school, but many barbeque stalls and small restaurants were still open.

The main focus of this area was catered to students with their good quality food and relatively cheap prices. Many of the residents and inhabitants in the neighborhood would drop by in the evening when they were hungry and feast on something.

A dozen or so boys sat around an outdoor table in the courtyard of a small shop as the boys from Class 1 brought plates of food to the table as if butterflies were wearing flowers*

.

T/N: It means that you can control the ball in the crowd, come and go freely, just like a butterfly running back and forth among the flowers.

After all, they were only out for a midnight snack and they had eaten dinner earlier, so the things in front of them were mostly roasted sausages, roasted corn, squid skewers, and so on.

Bai Jing used both hands to hold two roasted sausages, eagerly giving them to Ruan Qingmu. “Ruan-ge, eat!”

Ruan Qingmu tilted backward in disdain. “Not eating. It’s all rubbish starch.”

Bai Jing bitterly sighed. “Ruan-ge, how did you grow so tall with such a wicked mouth?”

He didn’t dare to say anything because of Ruan-ge’s tyrannical abuse. Ruan-ge was obviously very poor, ah. But somehow, he gave people the impression that he lived like a prince. As if he was even nobler than the prosperous Boss Qin.

When he ate stir-fried bean sprouts at school, he would pick them out and throw away the ones that didn’t look good!

One hand extended from the side, holding a milk box and roasted corn. “Mm. Don’t eat that. It has no nutrition. Eat these.”

Ruan Qingmu looked back and smiled. Reaching out to accept it, he beckoned at Qin Yuan. “Sit.”

The boy beside him accidentally hit his milk box, suddenly slightly suspicious. “Eh? Ruan-ge, why is your milk warm?”

The great class monitor Qin said with his usual expression, “Mm. I told the store owner to warm it up.”

Everyone: “(@_@;)…”

Huang Ya secretly leaned to a Class 1’s boy at the side and whispered in his ear, “I didn’t know your class monitor is cold-faced but warm-hearted. He really knows how to take care of people.”

That Class 1’s boy blankly looked at him. “Oh, I just found out too.”

“So warm!” Huang Ya enviously lamented.

Fu Songhua ran back from a neighboring stall, carefully holding a big bowl containing small wontons sprinkled with dark green onions and specks of sesame oil floating on top.

He sat beside the most edge Fang Li. “Eat this. The master* has just made it.”

*T/N:  Respectful form of address for older men.

Fang Li lowered his head and restlessly wanted to avoid him, but the chairs around him were filled with people with nowhere to go.

He whispered, “No need… I’m not hungry.”

“You’re so thin. How about eating a little?” Fu Songhua’s voice was very soft. “You need strength to study. You need to be healthy.”

Fang Li was silent and his gaze was slightly blank. Had Fu Songhua known he dropped 100 spots in this time’s exam?

Huang Ya secretly glanced at them and whispered in admiration again, “Fuck. I didn’t know your sports representative is so protective.”

The boy watched and sincerely said again, “This… is the first time I know about it as well.”

After being a classmate with the class monitor and sports representative for more than a year, he truly didn’t know these two bosses had such weird attributes, ah.

Huang Ya looked at the bowl of small wontons with envy and awkwardly went over, saying, “I also want to eat small wontons, ah. Do you have any?”

Fu Songhua looked at him in shock. “Go buy it yourself, ah. The class monitor will settle the bill. Are you an invalid? Do you actually want me to feed you?”

Huang Ya: “…”

Forget about it. His pair of all-seeing eyes had seen wrong. This person was actually very cold.

Qin Yuan sat beside Ruan Qingmu and there was nothing in front of him, only a cup of jasmine tea that the store had brought out. Seeing as Ruan Qingmu eagerly nibbled on the roasted corn, he whispered, “Do you want to eat small wontons? How about I go buy them for you?”

Ruan Qingmu felt it was ridiculous. “Why? I’m not a child.”

Qin Yuan’s face was calm, but his jade-like handsome face seemed slightly red under the light. “I’m treating, ah. Of course, I need to serve my guests well.”

The two sat close together and Qin Yuan’s face was right beside Ruan Qingmu’s as they leaned their heads closer together. The lighting was dim, casting a deep shadow on his straight nose. Ruan Qingmu squinted at it and suddenly his heart felt joyful and peaceful all at once.

“No. Actually, I’m not hungry,” he whispered, voice extremely soft.

He only wanted to come out. He only wanted to find a reason to sit with this person and be able to see him with a glance.

After a while, he whispered back a question, “Aren’t you going to eat anything?”

Qin Yuan shook his head, his slender fingers grasping the simple, disposable cup. “I’m also not hungry.”

It was already good to sit together like this, staying close in the crowded space.

Ruan Qingmu suddenly asked something against his expectations, “Oh, right. What the hell do you think about ‘Ruan Ruan is really soft’ ID?”

The back of the person beside him immediately straightened. “… Is that your admirer? A girl?”

Ruan Qingmu lowered his head to bite the corn, body slightly leaning over, expression sly and proud. “Qin-shaoxia, do you know you’ve been exposed?”

Qin Yuan turned his head in doubt, looking startled for a moment.

“The one Bai Jing put inside the group had already been photoshopped with the name deleted. How do you also know about this ID ‘Ruan Ruan is really soft’?”

Qin Yuan: “… Focus on eating. Don’t speak.”

At the side, one boy from Class 1 stood up eagerly. “Does everyone want something to drink? I will go order it.”

Their Boss had always been generous in treating them with enough food and drinks. Of course, the other boys were the ones who volunteered to help with these types of chores since they couldn’t ask the boss to run the errands himself.

Everyone chaotically shouted, “Cola!”

“I want Sprite.”

“I want plum juice, thank you!”

Qin Yuan turned his head and swiftly glanced at Ruan Qingmu.

Ruan Qingmu’s heart jumped and he suddenly understood his intention. He stood up and casually said, “Enough. I’ll help you guys get them.”

He just stood up and Qin Yuan already stood simultaneously, briefly saying, “Let’s go together. You can’t take them all alone.”

Without waiting for the other brothers to react, the two people had already quickly left, running to the opposite street.
