Late Night’s Suspicion (3)

The silver moon was like a hook, illuminating the big dance room in a quiet and secluded part. Someone was really inside the room!

With a graceful figure and beautiful movements, that figure silently danced in the dance room under the moonlight. His taut bare feet tapped the ground in successive leaps, making a very soft sound on the wooden floor.

He spun more than a half-circle with a leap in the air, his eyes darting to meet Ruan Qingmu and the others at the window.

The moonlight shone on his back and at that moment, Ruan Qingmu and Qin Yuan couldn’t see this person’s face clearly, but this person had obviously seen them.

The slim figure suddenly stopped dancing as if suddenly taken aback. Like a timid ghost in the darkness of the night, the figure flickered and sank into the shadows of a corner of the dance studio without giving Ruan Qingmu and the others time to look closely.

The dance room was suddenly silent and no matter how Ruan Qingmu and Qin Yuan widened their eyes and looked in, there was no more movement in the dark shadows.

Ruan Qingmu only felt his back was slightly cool and a little strange. He worriedly opened his mouth. “What happened? The person suddenly disappeared?

He couldn’t believe his eyes! He just saw a ghost!

Qin Yuan frowned. His phoenix eyes were sharp and cold. He suddenly propped his arms on the window frame and slanted his long legs, jumping in through the window with a leap.

Ruan Qingmu was startled and hurriedly followed him to leap, flipping his body inside the room.

Qin Yuan took the back of his hand and they quickly moved to where the shadow was running outside.

Sure enough, there was suddenly a little panicked noise somewhere in the darkness and a faint shadowy figure flashed past them.

The two people looked at the empty corner and the small back window that was wide open in the corner, hurriedly rushing there.

Pushing open the window, a shadow moved among the bushes outside, swaying and disappearing behind the bushes in an instant.

Ruan Qingmu still wanted to leap out of the window and chase after him, but Qin Yuan pulled him back, saying in a deep voice, “There are shadows and footsteps. It’s not a ghost, but a person.”

Ruan Qingmu squinted his eyes and gazed at that disappearing shadowy figure, a little lost in thought.

Qin Yuan suddenly asked. “Do you think it’s a man or woman?”

Ruan Qingmu snapped out of his daze and looked at Qin Yuan. The two people’s hearts vaguely stirred and they spoke almost simultaneously. “It’s a man.”

Although the movements were weak as if boneless, the dodging back after being startled and the still, standing posture after stopping seemed like a boy’s.

When they reached the dormitory building, it was just in time for the boys’ dorm to close.

Ruan Qingmu stood on the stairs and waved his hand at Qin Yuan smilingly, making a “go back quickly” gesture and turning around to the fourth floor.

As he entered the corridor, all the dorm’s lights went out.

He pushed open the door of his previous dorm, where some boys were just lying in bed and chatting in the dark.

He could hear Bai Jing asking the boy opposite him. “Where is Ruan-ge? Did anyone see Ruan-ge at night? We clearly got out of the night self-study together, but why did he turn around and disappear? He hasn’t returned until now?”

The boy’s bed was lit with a faint light, not knowing what he was looking at on his phone and he casually said, “He must have gone to sleep at Li Zhiyong’s dorm. Didn’t we agree that Fang Li would change to sleep in our place and he stays there for the time being?”

Bai Jing retorted. “It’s wrong, ah. I just went to Li Zhiyong’s to take a look. He’s really not there.”

The boy opposite let out a big yawn. “He must’ve gone with Boss Qin. Could it be that he went there to sleep? Hehe. Must be. Our Ruan-ge’s relationship with Boss Qin is so good that they wear a pair of pants*.”

*T/N: Wear a pair of pants: a metaphor for two people who have a close relationship and have the same interests.

As he said this, a head suddenly popped out beside the bed, eerily showing his snow-white teeth under the dim light of his phone while sneering. “Repeat it.”

That boy was looking at a supernatural novel and screamed in terror when he suddenly saw a pale, cold face. “Ahhh, a ghost!”

Ruan Qingmu pulled his quilt and covered his head with it. “You want to die, ah. I’ll fulfill it.”

Bai Jing egged him on from the opposite. “Kill him! You don’t have any culture. What do you mean by wearing a pair of pants? It’s called mutual love between soldiers.”

Ruan Qingmu flew into a rage out of humiliation and jumped down from that boy’s bed, casually taking a book from the desk and extending it to Bai Jing’s bedhead to hit him. “If you don’t shut up, I’ll hit you until you’re a malicious spirit.”

Bai Jing quickly dodged inside the bed, begging forgiveness smilingly. “I’m wrong. I’m wrong. Hey, by the way, Ruan-ge, how will you sleep tonight? Going to Li Zhiyong’s dorm room again?”

Ruan Qingmu sighed. “Let’s make do for now. I won’t put my things there. I’ll store them here and come to get them.”

He would think of a method to pester Old Jian for these few days, in case he agreed to him moving back to room 106 again.

“Mm. We’ll look after them for you and won’t lose your things.” Bai Jing hurriedly assured him. “Ruan-ge, don’t worry. We guarantee to continue good dorm hygiene!”

Ruan Qingmu looked at his former bed in the darkness before suddenly asking, “Where’s Fang Li?”
