Chapter 163: Second World: Eat My Dust

In ancient times when the family of the bride disapproved their union, the groom had to resort to kidnapping the bride. On the day of the wedding the groom had to choose a man who was the best at handling swords and beat the crap out of the bride's family if they cause trouble trying to take back their daughter thus the term 'best man'. But who would have thought Wen Qinxi would actually have his omega friends fighting over that very same position. Actually, this showdown was not necessarily a bad thing as it would determine who would be the best at being the best man just in case someone tried to steal his bride aka the Marshal away so he watched the five of them fight it out in military grade mechas in the middle of the desert.

As expected Tong was the first to be eliminated and funny enough he was eliminated by his twin Teng who could be heard yelling in her purple Mecha, "You suck Tong Tong! HAHAHAHA!" followed by a string of evil laughter but she was to engrossed in her victory that she didn't see Hauidan coming, "...AAAAAHHHH!...Who the fuck did that?" The last part was said as she fell flat on her face outside the arena having been eliminated.

"Eat my dust Te, haha," said Hauidan in his turquoise mecha before flying off to seek a new target.

Wen Qinxi couldn't help laugh at this comical scene even going as far as taunting Teng who was still lying on the group unable to accept defeat. "Karma is a bitch, ain't it Te?" he said with a mocking smile watching on a giant screen at the base.

"Xie-dage aren't you shameless, gloating over my misfortune. I will even settle to be a flower girl or something as long as you let me participate," she said with Tong helping her up.

Wen Qinxi wheezed a little before saying, "I am afraid Su, the Marshal's alpha sister won't be too happy about that. You would have to negotiate with her."

"Shit! You mean I have to fight an eight-year-old to get that position too? I guess I have to bully my way into this wedding," said Teng wondering how she was going to strong arm Su and become the flower girl.

Tong pat his sister's shoulder encouraging her, "Don't worry too much it's just a tiny alpha. You would definitely pull a fast one on her like stealing candy from a baby." Little did they know that that little alpha wasn't related to the Marshal in name only she was as stubborn as he was giving the two omegas a run for their money.

Wen Qinxi knew Su's character too well but didn't want to warn them as it would ruin a good show. While lamenting on this, he received a video request from Machu and didn't hesitate answering it as the Admiral never called him so it must be important.

As soon as the call connected Machu's taut voice reached his eyes. The Admiral's expression was grave his face ashen with panda eyes as though he hadn't slept in the past twenty-four hours.

He was scurrying down a passage in what seemed to be a warship and only began to explain the purpose of his call after reaching the captain's cabin. "Prince Xieshu I am sorry I should have made this call sooner.....um....is there a way we can speak in private?" he said noticing a scrawny looking omega in glasses seated on a work bench behind Zhao Xieshu. Wen Qinxi followed his line of sight only to see the Prof studying a string of data with a fixed gaze. Seeing this Wen Qinxi couldn't help but reprimand him.

"Cap is fighting on your behalf yet you can't even cheer her on playing with your statistics data," he said having met a workaholic worse than himself.

"What? This is more interesting than that besides I already know the captain is going to win and I am just waiting collect my winnings.....Oh, hie Admiral," replied the Prof before fixing his gaze on the numbers once more.

Machu was taken aback by the stranger's address his eyes squinted for a second but he soon recovered recalling the urgency of his video call. Wen Qinxi entered his office the door closing behind him. He already had an idea of what Machu was calling to say he just didn't want to believe Qie Ranzhe actually left the planet without saying anything to him.

"What is it?" he asked in an unhurried tone vowing to put the Marshal in the dog house as soon as he got him back from the zerg. That ought to teach the Marshal not to run around without telling him. He was even thinking of delaying the rescue just to teach him a lesson but he was afraid some accident would occur leading to even more irreparable damage.

"Yesterday the Marshal left to buy.....ahem....um....no he went on a mission," said Machu swiftly changing his words as he was about to spoil the surprise forgetting that they might be far worse things than spoiling the surprise if the Marshal was not found, "but we lost contact with him soon after. We searched his last known location before he vanished but couldn't find him. What I am trying to say is that the Marshal went MIA (missing in action) at 15:00pm Valim time yesterday."

Wen Qinxi was stunned speechless when he realised that they had waited twenty-four hours before telling him that Qie Ranzhe was missing. He at least thought the Marshal had been missing maybe for a couple of hours as to why he didn't call him personally? It was because he thought the Marshal was busy based on their conversation yesterday. Besides he was expecting to see him tonight so he didn't think much of it.

Anxiety, fear and anger were written all over his face with his only comfort being that he knew where he was. He hoped that zerg kept his word otherwise he would personally blow up that zerg's brains out without any hesitation.

"Admiral keep searching," he said instantly cutting off the transmission before calling the captain to issue out orders. Emperor Zhao had made his move and now it was time for him to cripple the emperor's backers and strip him of his power. "Captain Rueda play time is over. Initiate clean up," he said before entering White Baine setting off without saying another word.

His state of mind was extremely chaotic as he kept staring blankly into space not sure what to think. He had had this conversation with Qie Ranzhe a long time ago that the Marshal should always disclose his plans to him but it seemed like his words entered one ear and exited the other without entering the hot-head's brain.
