Chapter 143: Second World: Holdings Hands

Ever since Wen Qinxi got back to Valim after being rescued by the commander and chief, Qie Ranzhe, things were never the same again. Even though they hadn't seen each other for five days, the two were chatting non-stop sending sweet nothings to each other making whoever was unfortunate enough to witness their lovey dovey moments stuffing them with a sugar overdose.

In Xianxi base, Wen Qinxi had to work separately after being issued complaints of public disturbance. This was because each time he got a video call from the Marshal it will be an endless stream of coquettish language that distracted the others from their work so Captain Rueda did everyone a favor by requesting he use his office instead.

It wasn't only the messages and video calls but also the gifts. The Marshal was famous in the entire universe for being a penny pencer but ever since the kidnapping incident, he showered Zhao Xieshu with gifts everyday ranging from flowers to a diamond crested watch. In return, Wen Qinxi sent him lunch with all his favorite things but best of all he granted the Marshal access to his pavilion meaning the alpha didn't have to knock walking straight in with no issues.

Qie Ranzhe had asked him at that if he wasn't concerned about his reputation and this was Wen Qinxi's response, "What reputation are you talking about? I have no shred of it left so fuck reputation unless you want me to revoke your access?"

The Marshal began to sing a different tune after that saying, "I like you none the less so don't revoke my access," with a face as pitiful as a lost puppy.

The reason why they hadn't met was because Wen Qinxi was trying to figure out a grey cube box with the Chinese character for the Gu family. This box contained the coordinates of the planet he had been looking for. On the other hand, Qie Ranzhe had reports to submit concerning his decision to go after Offset in such a crude manner.

Today was a bit different as Wen Qinxi decided to give himself a day off. He needed a new space to give him a fresh perspective to figure out the mystery of the cube box. He was preoccupied working in his secret room with a focused brooding countenance when the door suddenly slid open and in walked in the Marshal taking full advantage of his new privileges.

Wen Qinxi suddenly regretted granting Qie Ranzhe access to his secret room seeing him pop up with no warning. His eyes were fixated on the Marshal who was strolling in with a satisfied smile. The two stared at each other locking eyes in a prolonged gaze with neither of them saying a word. Qie Ranzhe's eyes were like a gentle clear lake with the rising sun reflecting off it's surface, beautiful and sincere. Wen Qinxi was yet again a victim of these dazzling eyes his heart jolting in excitement.

Clearing his throat to alleviate the awkward tension, Wen Qinxi asked, "Why are you here?" averting his gaze while thinking, 'What the fuck its barely ten in the morning.'

Qie Ranzhe sat beside him that's after dragging another chair towards him. He missed the prince and wanted to be by his side even if it was for an hour. He had come over to Xianxi base which Zhao Xieshu had also given him access too but he was surprised when he heard the prince wasn't coming in today so he decided to take a long overdue trip to the palace and pay his omega a visit.

"I missed you," he answered honestly, "and I wanted to see you," with his hand rubbing Zhao Xieshu's back in a soothing manner as though trying to appease him.

Wen Qinxi's attention riveted on Qie Ranzhe contemplating on whether to say the words stuck at the tip of his tongue or not. After seconds of thinking it through he finally said, "I missed you too," in a low voice that a regular person would have to ask him to repeat his himself but Qie Ranzhe was not a regular person.

He heard every word giving him butterflies in his tummy while reaching out to hold Zhao Xieshu's hand.

The feeling of holding hands was a new experience for the Marshal making him feel sexy and wanted. He especially enjoyed it vowing to do it more often.

"Wanna play a game?" asked Wen Qinxi trying to distract himself from the anxious feeling that came with being alone with Qie Ranzhe in an enclosed space. The events of the last world had a tendency of replaying in his brain whenever he thought of the Marshal. Wen Qinxi could barely trust himself not to pounce on him when they were alone.

"Mn, what kind of game?" he asked leaning in so close you did think he wanted to kiss Zhao Xieshu's cheek.

Wen Qinxi took out two pistols and placed one in front of each of them. "Disassemble and reassemble this weapon and let's see whose faster," said Wen Qinxi confident in his own ability.

Qie Ranzhe's lips curved up in a tremulous smile while taking the one placed in front of him. After Weasel, the weapons' expert returned the weapon Qie Ranzhe familiarized himself with it but he wasn't sure if he could beat Zhao Xieshu. Even if he lost a thousand times to the prince he didn't care as long as he could spend time with him so he played along having fun with the prince.

As expected Wen Qinxi won as this pistol was like an extension of his arm. "Marshal are you impressed by my unparalleled skills?" asked Wen Qinxi with dash of pride resounding in his voice.

"Yes, Xieshu is so great. How about I take you to the shooting range tomorrow and you can show off your mad skills," said the Marshal moving his hand under the desk in a hesitant manner contemplating on whether to hold Zhao Xieshu's hand again or not.

Wen Qinxi would obviously love to break the Marshal's record. If they could go now he would with a spring in his step. "Sure, I would love that.....Soooo.....are you going to tell me what you did to Haidao?" This wasn't a new question as Wen Qinxi had asked this question so many times but couldn't get a straight answer out of Qie Ranzhe. This was his forth time asking hoping for an answer as Qie Ranzhe seemed to be in a good mood.
