Chapter 51: First World: First Taste Of Blood

It is said when the human body senses danger it releases hormones to shut down unnecessary body functions such as the digestive system and sharpen those we need to survive but these bandits' bodily functions didn't seem to take a hint as they almost crapped their pants in fright. They didn't even think of running away as they deemed it pointless remaining frozen with ashen faces awaiting judgment day.

Wen Qinxi kept on fumbling through his words but nothing seemed to be working as Qie Ranzhe had completely lost his mind stuck in berserk mode while readying himself to attack. One look at him you could tell his mind wasn't right with an eerie wolfish grin that could easily spook a sleeping baby to tears. An inky sinister aura surrounded Qie Ranzhe as he unhurriedly unsheathed his sword with his venomous menacing glare fixed on the bandit leader holding Lin Jingxie hostage.

The bandit leader held Wen Qinxi in place before pressing down the blade against his neck causing a small laceration releasing a minuscule amount of blood. Wen Qinxi stopped trying to talk Qie Ranzhe down as he hissed in pain. "I sa-said stand down or l will finish him off," stammered the bandit leader whose body was glossed in a cold sweat.

Wen Qinxi tilted his head while thinking, 'Dage, l don't want to fuckin die here with you. Let me go so l can run for my life,' trying to free himself from the smelly bandit's grasp. Qie Ranzhe seemed to have reached his limit as the last thread of reasoning snapped when he saw the blood seeping from Lin Jingxie's neck.

Like a ghost, Qie Ranzhe suddenly appeared in front of the terrified bandit leader before grabbing him by the collar and flinging him straight into a tree trunk followed by a loud snap which was the sound of his bones breaking. Even if he survived that ordeal he would most likely be paralysed for the rest of his life. Wen Qinxi was frozen stiff with terrorstricken eyes pointing with his trembling index finger at where Qie Ranzhe was originally standing to where he was now stammering in an inaudible voice, "ho-how di-di-did he get here that fast?" His speed was simply inhuman moving as fast as a fiend in a haunted house.

Qie Ranzhe walked over to the now unconscious bandit leader letting out an angry roar while swinging his sword, "I told you not to fuckin touch him!" His entire body was convulsing in rage as he accurately delivered the final blow beheading the leader with one swing. The lifeless wild-eyed head rolled on the ground leaving behind a trail of blood till it stopped right at Wen Qinxi's feet. This might be a game but this corpse was as real as day with its bloodshot eyes looking at Wen Qinxi.

A sickening feeling crept up his throat the longer he stared at the slain bandit's head. He hunched down unable to fend off the nauseous feeling and hurling whatever was left of his breakfast thinking, 'That's so fucked up.'

One panic-stricken bandit wailed out loud, "Boss!" with tears streaming down his cheeks but immediately zipped his mouth when Qie Ranzhe's murderous eyes glared at him in his peripheral view. The bandits' bodies seemed to have finally taken a hint as adrenaline rushed through their bodies like roaring waters passing through the open floodgates of a dam wall. They all scattered in different directions as though marking the beginning of a countdown in a hide-and-seek game.

Qie Ranzhe had no intentions of letting them go mercilessly chopping them down one by one with no means of escape except death. It was as though he had just had a taste of blood which left him craving for more. Seeing Qie Ranzhe disappear into the bushes chasing after the bandits, Wen Qinxi took the opportunity to escape hoisting Zhao Huangzhi onto his back while scanning around for the other girl. He called out to her multiple times but the girl was too petrified and couldn't respond.

Wen Qinxi was about to search the bushes when he heard a high pitched asperous shrieking sound coming from the east. He placed Zhao Huangzhi on the ground and rushed towards that direction only to find Qie Ranzhe still in berserk mode lifting a helpless girl up by her neck with her feet dangling mid‐air. "Shit!" cursed Wen Qinxi grabbing a log intending to knock out Qie Ranzhe and save the girl.

He swung the log with all his strength aiming for Qie Ranzhe's nape but before he could strike him, Qie Ranzhe grabbed the log tossing it and the one holding it a meter away. A desperate Wen Qinxi cried out in hoarse voice grimacing in pain, "Ran-ge!" not even sure if it would help. Maybe this was the end of the road for the both of them starting the game all over again.
