The Demon and His Lover (2)

Exams were very draining. After the last section of the exam, both Anna and Natalie decided to go home to rest. The results would be announced the day after tomorrow, so they could take a day off.

However, Anna only plans to rest for one day. She has already decided that she will take the one-star to two-star promotion test a month later, so she will continue to fight for the next month.

Because Rothgarr insisted on taking Anna home, Anna could only get in his carriage. After arriving at the gates of Givina’s house, she insisted on watching him leave, and then went back to buy some food.

As soon as Anna entered the house, she saw Abel lying on the ground and twitching. She quickly set her things on the table, then stepped back to the door and looked at Abel.

Maybe he was twitching before Anna came. Anna waited for a while before his body stopped twitching. His whole body was like being pulled out of water, gasping for breath.

After gathering himself for a bit, he sat up, and Anna then walked over, looked at his face and said, “The dark lines have faded a lot again.”

Abel glanced weakly at Anna, and crawled to the bathroom with difficulty to take a shower.

Anna reckoned that in maybe two or three more times, the dark lines on Abel’s face would disappear, and then it would be time for him to leave.

Thinking of this, Anna felt a little disappointed. At first, one more person in her home made her feel a little uncomfortable, but then she felt that it was nice to have someone waiting for her when she got home.

Fortunately, she was mentally prepared for parting after being targeted by the demon, so that kind of disappointment was brief.

The next day was a rest day. Anna and Natalie decided to relax, so instead of going to the Mage Association, they had a shopping date.

Anna first took Natalie to the women’s clothing store she frequented to buy some nice riding clothes, and then took Natalie’s carriage, like taking a bus around the city, to travel around Black Cloud City.

When Anna arrived in Black Cloud City, she studied very hard. She seldom toured Black Cloud City well. In addition, the two of them were unwilling to waste their rare day off at a tea party competing with other noble ladies, so they finally decided to spend a day trip in Black Cloud City.

The first stop for the two of them was outside the city lord’s mansion in Black Cloud City. The city lord of Black Cloud City was named Dan Sherlock. He was a marquis, one level higher than the title of Earl Wilson, the city lord of Blue Rock City. After all, Black Cloud City was several times bigger than Blue Rock City.

“When we pass the promotion test to become one-star mages, on the birthday of the goddess, all the new one-star mages this year will attend the ceremony at Marquis Sherlock’s manor and officially become barons.” Natalie explained excitedly. She had been waiting for this day for a long time.

Anna thought for a while, there were still three months before the goddess’s birthday, that was to say, after more than half a year, she had struggled from a commoner to an aristocrat. She deserved as much; she worked very hard.

“Can the annual salary begin to be collected on that day?” Anna asked a question of considerable concern. Ten gold coins were not much for a mage, but no matter how small a mosquito’s legs were, it was still meat. Anyway, it was free money.

She and Natalie could rent or buy a big house depending on the price. They could live on separate floors, or they could live in different bedrooms on the same floor. They could go to the Association to study together every day, and could play together. Just thinking about it, she knew that it would be a beautiful cohabitation for the two of them.

In Natalie’s eyes, Anna’s stunned expression was a sign of refusal. She felt a little sad in her heart, but quickly said with a smile: “It was just a casual suggestion! You don’t need to care…”

Anna shook her head, of course she wanted to live with Natalie, but she was a little worried that this would be a strange sign to the demon…

“I’d love to live with you, Natalie. But I’m afraid there may be a change… We’ll wait three months before we decide, what do you think?” Anna laughed. What if the demon lost interest in her after three months? Then she could live a happy cohabitation life with Natalie!

The next stop after passing by the Marquis mansion was the Black Cloud City Church.

This church was presided over by a priest, plus a dozen pastors. Today was not a Sunday, but there were still many people coming and going to the church.

It was easier to enter than the city lord’s mansion. Anna and Natalie got off the carriage nearby and walked into the church on foot.

According to Anna’s observation, Natalie’s belief in the goddess and in the religion was not very strong, this was probably a common trait among mages.

Neither of them wore mage robes or mage badges today. One of them was wearing a pink skirt and the other was wearing an indigo riding suit. They were young and beautiful girls, and they were quite eye-catching on the road.
