Sowing Discord (2)

Seeing that she couldn’t provoke the relationship between the two, Anna gave up the plan and continued to talk with Balan as they walked.

“Balan, what are you going to do in Black Cloud City?” Anna changed the subject and continued to inquire from another angle.

Balan smiled: “To visit a friend’s family.”

“You have a lot of friends, but is it okay for you to go in like this?” Anna said. Balan’s answer contained a lot of information. The “friend’s family” in Black Cloud City was of course a human. In other words, he had a human friend, and the strange thing was that he was going to visit a friend’s relative, not his friend or his relative. And where was his friend?

In addition, it turned out that demons and humans could become friends? She thought that demons would only treat humans as prey. But then why couldn’t that other demon be friends with her? She thought that her soul was more beautiful if it stayed in her own body.

“It’s fine to go in at night.” Balan smiled, “Although there is no one in Black Cloud City who can hurt me, it is too troublesome to cause a big wave.”

Anna smiled: “Good point.”

First, there was no one in Black Cloud City who could harm a demon, but what about the other cities? Her plan to become a five-star mage and defeat the demon still had hope. Second, the demon’s horns could not be put away. Otherwise, if the horns could be put away like wings, he could swagger into the city; so what if his eyes were a little red? Haven’t you seen anyone with pink-eye before?

Anna and Balan were walking through the gaps in the forest. There were no visible roads formed by repeated travel from humans. It was a bit difficult to walk, but Anna had walked through various terrains in the past twenty days, and she could still keep up right now.

She thought that Balan could fly her directly to Black Cloud City, but didn’t. Obviously, it was to “cultivate” feelings with her on the way to Black Cloud City, so as to help her friends in this very short time.

Since she couldn’t sow discord between Balan and that demon’s relationship, she didn’t need to do anything more than just talk.

Anyway, as long as she grit her teeth and held her ground, he couldn’t do anything to her. If he was that capable, he could kill her. She’d rather die than surrender anyway!

“Let’s take a rest here,” Balan suddenly suggested.

Anna responded in agreement and found a place to sit down where Balan stopped.

Balan smiled and said, “I’ll go around and look around. If there is any danger, I will resolve them before you even see them.”

“Then I will have to trouble you.” Anna smiled gratefully.

Balan’s back quickly disappeared into the dense forest. Anna leaned against the tree trunk and closed her eyes to rest.

Did he go find that demon? Could it be that they wanted to share the skills of harvesting her soul?

“Isn’t Anna very easy to figure out?”

Balan was giving his opinion, and standing in front of him was Rothgarr who had followed them all the way.

Rothgarr sneered, not wanting to talk. He had followed them all the way, and watched all the way. Anna’s performance made him very upset.

“But she is indeed more complicated than the average girl.” Balan analyzed by stroking his chin, “I saved her, but she doesn’t have much romantic affection for me. Although she seems to be attached to me, I know that she is actually full of vigilance.”

Balan had seen thousands of women in his life. Of course he could tell whether or not a woman had affection towards him. Anna seemed to be the same when interacting with him, a creature of the demon race, but in fact, it was because she knew that she was weaker and had to act as if she was dependent on him, right?

“But while being wary of me, she also wants to get something from me.” Balan continued, “Money, status, power, those are all the things she could possibly want, but she is really an ambitious woman who can ignore my beauty; how rare.”

He licked his lips, and there was a glow of excitement in his red eyes: “I really want to see such an ambitious woman fall for me, blushing and eagerly begging me to satisfy her…”

Rothgarr frowned irritably when he heard Balan’s words. He mocked: “Don’t you already have a lover?”

Balan glanced at Rothgarr and shrugged: “I’m just kidding. Since I have Catherine, I will be loyal to her.”

Rothgarr and Balan had been friends for thousands of years. It was ironic to hear the word “loyalty” coming from Balan. Almost every time he went to find Balan, he could find things that dirtied his eyes. Eventually, he could not bother to step foot into Balan’s castle.

He didn’t even bother to listen to Balan’s words.

“But, knowing what she wants, isn’t it easy to get her to agree?” Balan said, “She will be very happy when I ask her to marry me. I am a Grand Duke of The Abyss. As long as she marries me, she can get all that she wants. Oh yeah, I have to mention my status in the Demon Realm to her later.”

Seeing that Balan was full of confidence and not regarding Anna as much of a difficulty, Rothgarr couldn’t help but sneer.

He hadn’t been able to figure out Anna in nearly two months. If she was dealt with by Balan in one day, she should be prepared to face his anger.

Anna barely rested for a while before she heard some movement. She opened her eyes and saw Balan not far away, slowly walking toward her. He was probably deliberately making extra noise so as not to scare her by suddenly appearing in front of her.

She thought Balan was really considerate compared to that demon. How many innocent girls had he deceived?

“There is no danger around, you can take a rest.” Balan was sitting on the ground two steps away from Anna. Smiling, he said, “Do you know that the Demon Realm has five Grand Dukes of the Abyss?”

“Ah? I didn’t know, I only knew for the first time today that demons are real.” Anna sat up straight, obviously interested in this topic.

Balan said casually, “Coincidentally, I am one of the five Grand Dukes of The Abyss.”

Anna’s face changed slightly. Balan noticed, thinking in his heart that his bargaining chips had increased again.

“Why is it called Grand Duke of The Abyss?” Anna asked.

“Because us five demons all crawled out of The Abyss of the Demon Realm. The Abyss gave us gifts and curses.” Balan said nonchalantly. Practically no one in the Human Realm knew of this. Seeing curiosity on Anna’s face, he stopped talking. Balan smiled and asked, “Want to know what gift and curse The Abyss gave us?”

Anna nodded expectantly.

Balan smiled and said, “I can’t tell you. This is our secret, and even I don’t know the secrets of other Abyss princes very accurately.”

Anna was a bit disappointed. “Gifts and curses”; this sounded like a weakness of the demons. Unfortunately, Balan would not reveal this weakness no matter how she tried to get it out of him. She might as well not waste energy finding out to prevent it from backfiring on her.

Thinking of the demon who had been eyeing her, Anna couldn’t help asking: “The Grand Dukes of The Abyss…are they all idle?”

Balan was taken aback and laughed: “We are truly idle. We don’t manage the land and population like the nobles of the Human Realm. You don’t even know how idle we are.”

Anna thought to herself, why wouldn’t she know how idle they are? Balan was a Grand Duke of The Abyss, and the other demon must be too. A mighty and powerful Grand Duke of The Abyss finding trouble with a weak human like her everyday; it was clear just how idle he was!
