Fleeing Blue Stone City (1)

Anna ran fast, but she slowed down when she reached the back door of the earl’s mansion.

This place was a distance away from the Holy Son, but because of the noise caused by the spells, the guards at the door were also eager to watch the commotion, scratching their heads with curiosity.

Seeing Anna coming over, a guard who had become familiar with her in the past month asked her: “Anna, what’s going on over there? It’s so noisy.”

“The esteemed Holy Son is fighting with Master Ulysses!” Anna looked panicked.  “I’m going to find Father Louis to mediate the situation!”

Hearing Anna’s words, the guards couldn’t help exclaiming aloud. They were even more curious, but Anna’s task was too urgent, and it wouldn’t be good for them to delay her by asking more questions. They could only urge her to go quickly and hurry back soon, lest the two lords tear down the earl’s mansion.

After Anna left, she headed straight to Pomegranate Lane. She ran to the ruins and found Dubian, explaining the urgency of the current situation in one sentence: “The priest believes that I am a witch who seduced the Holy Son; I need to flee the city immediately.”

Dubian was surprised, and immediately said: “I will go with you.”

His injury had healed a lot, and it was all thanks to Anna’s help that allowed him to recover comfortably during this period. If she left, there would be no one to give him food and drink anymore, and it would be meaningless for him to stay here.

Besides, how could he watch her run away by herself?

Anna said in her next sentence: “I want to bring along my family…….we will be a burden if you come with us.”

Dubian shook his head: “It’s okay, we are friends. What burden? And it’s not clear yet who will be burdening who.”

Anna smiled. Among so many people she met, Dubian was the most reliable.

“Okay, then you pack up quickly, I’ll go find my family!” Time was running out; Anna didn’t have so much time to fret over her feelings, and she hurried back to her home.

The house was very serene. Seeing Anna come home, Adele and Little Evan both rushed over, each hugging one of Anna’s legs.

Anna hurriedly bent over and pulled the two away: “I have an urgent matter, you guys let go first.”

She got rid of the two little ones and ran into the bedroom of Evan and Gaea. Gaea was doing handiwork. When she saw Anna despite it still being daytime, her face was surprised: “What’s the matter, Anna?”

“Mama, we don’t have time, let me tell you briefly!” Anna said very fast. “I have been taking care of the Holy Son, as you know. Today, Father Louis identified me as a fallen witch who seduced the Holy Son, and wants to kill me! Mama, go find Papa, let’s run away together!”

Gaea listened to Anna’s words with a shocked face and hesitated, “Anna, is there a misunderstanding? How could you be a witch?”

Anna said: “Mama, you and I know that I am not, but Father Louis doesn’t believe me, time is running out, let’s go quickly!”

Gaea never thought that one day, as she was doing manual work in her own home, her daughter would come back and tell her that they were going to flee the place where their family had lived for so many years.

After being dragged by Anna for two steps, Gaea pulled Anna in turn and said, “Anna, the goddess will not hurt the devout believers. You are not a witch; the goddess will give you justice.”

Gaea had lived here for so many years. How could she accept it when she was suddenly asked to escape. She was unlike Anna, who thought about various possibilities after being eyed by the demon.

Moreover, she was a devout believer, and convinced that the goddess would prove Anna’s innocence, so she was reluctant to leave.

Anna paused, and turned back to Gaea shouting: “Mama, the goddess does not exist, how can she prove my innocence? The Holy Son fought with the priest because of me, how could the priest believe that I am not a witch!”

“Anna, how can you say such things? How can you blaspheme the goddess!” Gaea looked at Anna in disbelief; Anna had never expressed such terrible thoughts before!

Anna looked at Gaea’s expression and realized that it was impossible for her to persuade Gaea to go with her.

Her family were devout believers; she was the only heretic.

Both Evan and Gaea were very good parents, but in their hearts, the goddess was more important.

“Mama, even if I were to die if I stayed, do you want me to stay and accept the goddess’ trial?” Anna asked Gaea with red eyes.

Gaea stared at Anna in a daze, and muttered: “The goddess is kind, and she will protect each of us devout believers…”

Anna suddenly picked up the clay pot on the table and threw it toward Gaea’s forehead.

The clay pot broke. Gaea screamed and fell to the ground. Adele and little Evan, who were hiding in the corner watching Anna and Gaea quarrel, didn’t know what had happened, and they both started crying in fright.

Because she held back on the force, there was not much blood on Gaea’s forehead. Anna only took a glance and went to her bedroom. Apart from packing up two sets of clothes, she took out all the coins she had accumulated.

Then, she opened her palms and imagined a condensed circuit, and a small flame appeared in her palms. She burned her bedding with the flame, and when she saw the fire spread quickly, she walked out of the bedroom.

Thinking that the first time she used a spell in practice was to set fire to her own home, Anna couldn’t help but smile.

When Anna left the bedroom, Gaea was still lying on the ground due to dizziness. Adele and little Evan were crying around her.
