Rejecting the Proposal (1)

Of course Anna was not stupid enough to bring little Evan in directly. She went to the kitchen, found Rebecca, and told Rebecca that the Holy Son had promised to treat little Evan for her. She wanted to get permission to bring little Evan into the earl estate.

Rebecca was very surprised when she heard what Anna said. She couldn't help asking: "Isn't the Holy Son injured?"

"The esteemed Holy Son is very kind. He said he was better and insisted that I bring little Evan." Anna seemed to be a little upset because of this. "When the esteemed Holy Son asked me why I asked for leave in the morning, I shouldn’t have told him about my brother’s matter."

Of course Anna had no regrets. When she was answering the demon’s question, she had said so on purpose, but the demon didn’t take the opportunity to ask her to marry him in exchange for saving little Evan, which really surprised her. No matter what his purpose was, he was willing to save little Evan. For that alone, she was very grateful to him.

Hearing Anna's words, Rebecca comforted her in turn: "The esteemed Holy Son is revered, with the same kindness as the goddess. Since he insists on doing so, don't think too much about it. I will go to the entrance with you to find the guards and explain to them that this is an order of the Holy Son."

"Thank you, Rebecca!" Anna thanked her sincerely.

The two went to the back door of the earl estate together. Rebecca had some reputation in the earl estate. After hearing that it was the order of the Holy Son and they were only bringing a child in, the guards said that there was no problem.

Anna thanked Rebecca and hurried home.

Gaea was watching little Evan with tears in her eyes. After drinking the holy water, she thought that little Evan would get better soon, but as time went by, little Evan's breathing was still weak, and the temperature of his forehead seemed to be even higher.

"Mama!"

Because she was so worried about little Evan, Gaea didn't realize Anna was back until Anna pushed open the bedroom door calling her.

"Anna, why are you back again? Did...something happen at work in the earl estate?" Gaea asked worriedly.

"No, little Evan has hope!" Anna said excitedly, "The Holy Son promised to save little Evan, I will take little Evan to the earl estate right now!"

Gaea's face had a surprised expression like gold coins were falling from the sky. "The goddess is truly merciful, the Holy Son is willing to save little Evan!"

"Mama, I'll take little Evan there first."

Anna picked up little Evan. A three-year-old child weighed around 20 kilograms. She rested little Evan's head on her shoulders and held him as she walked out.

Gaea hurriedly rushed over. She took little Evan from within Anna’s embrace and said, "Mama will go with you."

"But……"

"I know the rules. I will just carry little Evan to the gate of the earl estate and wait for you outside." Gaea smiled. "Little Evan weighs twenty-five pounds. You won’t be able to hold him for that long."

Adele, who was standing by, also said: "I want to go, too!"

Anna knew that Gaea was right; she probably wouldn’t be able to carry him for too long, and she could not leave Adele at home alone either, so she agreed for Gaea and Adele to go with her.

The group walked hurriedly on the road and arrived at the back door of the earl estate in less than half an hour.

Anna took little Evan from Gaea and said to her, "Mama, don't worry. When I bring little Evan out again, he will definitely have recovered his health."

Gaea still had worry on her face, but more so hope and joy: "Mama knows. We’ll be here waiting for you."

Adele hugged Anna's leg, raised her head and said to her: "Anna, we'll be waiting for you and little Evan here outside!"

Anna, who was holding little Evan, successfully entered the back door of the earl estate, and went to the front of the Holy Son's residence without stopping.

Rothgarr had gotten off the bed and was sitting at the table.

Anna came in holding little Evan and saw the demon sitting at the table. She thought it over and hooked a stool with her feet, dragging it in front of the demon, and sat little Evan on the stool.

"Esteemed Holy Son, this is my little brother Evan. He has been fighting a high fever for several days. Please save him." Anna supported Evan and looked at the demon expectantly.

Rothgarr saw how flushed little Evan's face was. His breathing was short, and his nose seemed to be congested. Afraid that he would fall onto his side, he told Anna, “Hold him tightly.” Although this was Victor's body, he didn't want to touch such dirty things even if he was possessing someone else.

Anna made a sound of acknowledgement. She picked up little Evan, and sat on the stool herself with little Evan in her arms. This way, she could hold him more securely.

She herself had never cast a Holy Healing spell, and when the demon used the spell on himself, he didn't seem to be in pain. But he was not human, so who knew if he could bear pain extremely well? Therefore, she held tightly onto little Evan like a parent taking their child to get a vaccine, afraid that little Evan would be struggling in pain later and cause the demon to be upset.

Rothgarr stretched out his hand and paused. Seeing that little Evan's exposed body was sweaty, the hand he had originally stretched out to place on little Evan's forehead was placed instead on the clothes of little Evan's arm.

A white light shone from under his palm, slowly expanding in surface area, almost enveloping little Evan.

Anna held her breath nervously and watched little Evan's expression. He didn't show any uncomfortable reaction. Instead, as the white light continued to expand, his breathing gradually eased, and she couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief.

She raised her head and studied the demon who was sitting only an arm’s length away from her. His expression looking at little Evan was lukewarm, and as he sustained the white light beneath his palm, cold sweat dripped from his face.

Only a day had passed; even if he was a demon, the Holy Son's mental power couldn’t be restored much.

Anna thought to herself, this demon was indeed very dedicated. In order to deceive her soul, he  endured such discomfort...

If he wasn't going to harvest her soul, if she wasn't a transmigrator, she would probably be so touched now that she wanted to pledge her body to him, even being a lowkey lover was fine.

When the white light stopped, little Evan had recovered his breathing and slept soundly, while the demon's face was pale. His body even swayed a bit when he retracted his hand.

Anna, who was prepared for this, stretched out her hand to support him: "Esteemed Holy Son, you’ve worked hard. Truly, thank you very much."

Her gratitude was sincere at this moment.

Rothgarr hummed a sound of acknowledgement and removed Anna's hand, leaning on the table instead. He said to her, "You can first send him back."

"Okay, esteemed Holy Son. Thank you again for your kindness!" Anna picked up little Evan and thanked him again.
