The Bet (2)

Rothgarr’s power of “possession” was that he can virtualize his body, reside as a soul-like form in creatures of intelligent life, and perfectly manipulate their bodies. This was the part that Balan knew about. What Balan didn’t know is that he could also access part of the body’s memory at his will.

Therefore, the bet with Balan seemed way too simple to Rothgarr. Find a playboy and use his memory to gain the favor of a human woman. Human women are vain and greedy, so he was certain he had won the bet.

There was no direct passage between the demon realm and the human realm. The environments in each realm were highly toxic to the creatures from the opposite side. Only a few individuals of a few races could survive in the other realm on their own or by using foreign objects or secret arts.

But even if so, their strength would be weakened.

Rothgarr, in order to relieve himself of the curse of The Abyss–this was the price receiving The Abyss’ gift–often went to the human realm to look for clues. Under the castle, there was an already set-up cross-border teleportation portal.

He stood in the center of the teleportation portal, lightly flicked his fingers down, a black flame hit the center of the teleportation portal, and instantly engulfed the entire teleportation array. After a purple light flashed, he appeared in a forest ten miles away from a random city in the human realm.

The magical light quickly dissipated, Rothgarr frowned. He felt very uncomfortable every time he came to the human realm.

Even if he was the Great Lord of the Abyss and could withstand the poison of the human environment, he wasn’t entirely unaffected. At this moment, his strength was suppressed to less than half of the original.

Ahead of him, he heard human voices mixed with screams and savage laughter. Because Rothgarr didn’t try to conceal himself, he was discovered when he approached.

“Who are you?”

Rothgarr didn’t even spare a glance, and walked by uncaringly.

There was a female voice screaming: “Help me, please help me!”

“Shut up!” What followed was the sound of a slap, and then a rough, male voice shouted, “Lao’zi* is asking you! Lao’zi* is commanding you to stop it right there. Fuck! Brothers, attack! Leave him for lao’zi*!”

[*Lao’zi is a form of self-address used by an arrogant person; directly translates to ‘father’]

Several men took up the weapons thrown aside and rushed towards Rothgarr. Because the forest was a little dark, a branch had blocked half of Rothgarr’s figure just now. The men didn’t find out until they had surrounded him, that he wasn’t human. Rather, there were goat-like horns atop his head…..

“Demon! It’s a demon!”

The men screamed in horror and turned to run, but they were too late.

Rothgarr raised his hand and flicked it lightly, and black flames emerged out of thin air. After reaching the bodies of the men, the fire spread instantly like oil. The raging black flames wrapped around them and instantly burnt them to ashes.

And Rothgarr hadn’t even stopped walking.

Only the woman who witnessed this horrible scene was trembling with fear, holding herself silently and in tears. She did not dare to make a sound, and prayed desperately to the goddess of light.

Having nearly been at death’s door, she very quickly decided to treat everything she saw today as a nightmare and not tell anyone.

Rothgarr quickly found a suitable target for possession: not far away, the son of the ruler of Blue Stone City, Parrish Wilson, who was currently returning to the city in a luxurious four-wheeled carriage.

Parrish Wilson was not a mage, so his mental strength was weak. Apart from him, only the carriage driver and his manservant were in the carriage. They are also weak, ordinary humans. Rothgarr easily and successfully “possessed” him. This body looked young and handsome, and could make at least ten human women agree to his marriage proposal in a single day.

Rotgar’s possession would not cause the original owner of the body to die. The original owner’s soul would only be forced to curl up into a ball and fall into a deep sleep, allowing the body to be under Rothgarr’s control.

The carriage drove slowly into Blue Rock City. Rothgarr opened the window and looked outside indifferently.

These lowly, incompetent, and weak human beings were just as annoying as in the past.

The carriage suddenly stopped, and the carriage driver exclaimed angrily, “Lowly peasant! How dare you stop Young Master Parrish’s carriage! Do you wish to be hanged?”

Rothgarr retracted his gaze, only to hear a slightly startled, weak female voice: “Sorry, someone pushed me… I’ll get out of it right away!”

What a crappy excuse.

Rotgar remembered that he seemed to have seen such a scene many years ago, in which a poor but beautiful girl fell in front of a wealthy young master’s carriage, trying to have a meteoric rise to the top.

Tch, women.

Rothgarr pushed open the carriage door and got out of the carriage. He saw the girl lying in front of the carriage bracing her body and trying to stand up. However, due to her knee injury, she laid back in pain as soon as she rose halfway.

There were nosy people around her already starting to whisper.

Her acting was truly up to par.

Rothgarr thought maliciously, walked to the girl who could not stand up, and in the shocked eyes of the crowd, he stooped to pick her up.

Because of his actions, the onlookers let out a sound of exclamation.

Most of them recognized their lord’s son. The image of a nobleman actually picking up a commoner, thoroughly surprised them.

In Rothgarr’s eyes, humans were inferior to the lowest slime in the Demon Realm. If he were in his real form, he would not let this human woman touch him.

But for The Abyss tree seed, he didn’t mind tolerating it for a while.

Rothgar accessed Parrish Wilson’s memory, smiled using his body, looked affectionately at the girl who was only sixteen or seventeen years old, and said: “Beautiful lady, I fell in love with you at first sight because of your beauty. Your injury cuts my heart like a knife. How can I bear to see you like this? Please come home with me and I will take care of your injury.”

Parrish had become a popular playboy among women because of his unique family background and his own situation. With his head full of sweet words, there was enough content in the memory for Rothgarr to randomly choose from.

The girl has long reddish-brown curly hair. She was sixteen or seventeen years old. She had fair and tender skin. Her azure colored eyes had a thin gleam of tears due to pain. Her lips were full and healthy red, but her small, smoky gray old skirt made her like a dusted pearl.

Roth Garr did not wait for the girl’s response, and carried her into the carriage, attracting a burst of whispers from the onlookers.

“Wow, Young Master Parrish is so gentle, I wish it was me who fell in front of his car!”

“That girl is truly such a lucky, benevolent goddess, why wasn’t it my daughter who has encountered such a good thing?”

“……”

When Rothgarr heard the envy of those onlookers, he sneered in disgust in his heart.

These inferior humans have never let him down.

Contrary to what he thought, he gently placed the girl on the seat and sat opposite her, looking tenderly at the girl who was wiping away tears, and said in a magnetic voice: “Beautiful lady, you are like the rising sun to me, illuminating my way forward. Without you, I don’t know where to go. Please marry me!”

Rothgarr decided to cut to the chase. Since this human woman fell in front of Parrish’s carriage with the purpose of having a meteoric rise, when he proposed to marry him, she would only agree ecstatically.

He saw that the girl on the opposite side had just wiped away her tears and her hand froze. She looked up at him, presumably too surprised. Her eyes widened slightly and her lips trembled slightly.

Rotgar’s disgust in his heart increased a bit more; this ugly attitude made him sick.

Once she agreed, he would kill her.

However, when Rothgar lowered his eyes slightly and casually pressed his hand on the dagger around his waist, waiting to hear the ecstatic answer before proceeding, what he heard was the girl’s weak and firm voice: “I refuse.”

Rotgar raised his eyes suddenly. His reaction was rarely this slow.

…She actually rejected him?

This was impossible!
