Chapter 1030 - 1030 Don’t Drag Me Down

1030 Don’t Drag Me Down

Pascal, Barlow, and Dani drank until slightly after 10 o’clock in the evening. Pascal put down his wine glass, stood up, and prepared to leave. “I have to go.”

“Pascal, why are you leaving so early? We only just got here.” Barlow complained in annoyance.

Dani also felt it was time to go back. She said, “This place is some distance from Metropolis University. By the time Pascal gets back, it’ll be past 11 at night. He still has to go through the last test tomorrow, so he needs to get as much rest as possible and be in tip-top condition.”

She turned to say to Pascal, “Pascal, I’m sure you’ll pass the testing.”

!!

Pascal waved his hand and strode out of the bar.

Dani took a sip of wine watching Pascal leave. As Barlow looked intently at the bar entrance, she said, “Barlow, I want to go dance. Shall we?”

Barlow thought about his phone conversation with his older brother and his heart raced uncontrollably. Wouldn’t it be great if his older brother’s words could come true?

Just thinking about this, Barlow could no longer contain his curiosity. He wanted to follow Pascal and see for himself.

If Pascal genuinely got killed, Barlow would wear a mask and change his identity.

Barlow’s heart raced faster just thinking about this. He touched his head and said, “I had too much to drink. I’m a little giddy, so I don’t think I can dance.”

Dani was completely unsuspecting and said, “In that case, I’ll dance by myself. Why don’t you sit and rest here?”

She walked toward the dance floor the moment she finished her sentence.

After Dani disappeared onto the dance floor, Barlow quickly followed after Pascal.

As Pascal walked out of the bar, he happened to run into Bryan coming out from another bar.

Bryan also saw Pascal, so he walked toward him.

“Pascal, are you heading back too?”

Pascal completely ignored him and coolly turned his eyes somewhere else.

Bryan was an extrovert, but he still had some EQ. When he saw Pascal’s reaction, he stood without continuing to talk.

A cab came driving toward them, so Bryan raised his hand to flag it down.

Out of courtesy, he asked Pascal as he got into the car, “Pascal, want to share the cab with me?”

The cab driver chimed in. “It’s not easy to get a cab at night. You might have to wait 30 minutes to get another one.”

Pascal was about to turn down the offer, but he changed his mind and walked over to enter the cab.

Bryan glanced at him briefly and told the cab driver they were going to Metropolis University without speaking further to Pascal.

When the cab driver heard Metropolis University, he started talking enthusiastically.

“Are you exchange students from Metropolis University? That’s a great school. Also, Zi Yi attends school there. You must have seen her previously, right?”

The two of them sat in the cab listening to the cab driver laud praise on Zi Yi for over ten minutes until the cab got stuck on a road.

Once the car encountered the traffic jam, the people in the cab started losing their patience, especially the slightly drunk Pascal.

Pascal looked at the traffic and asked the cab driver, “Is there a subway station nearby that goes to Metropolis University?”

Once the cab driver heard what Pascal wanted to do, he replied, “Yes. There’s a subway station nearby, but you need to make transfers. Why don’t you go to Three Rivers Street on foot and hail a cab from there? I don’t think that area is affected by the jam.”

“Where is Three Rivers Street?”

The cab driver pulled up the GPS map of the city and showed it to Pascal. They were currently on the periphery of the city center and two streets away from Three Rivers Street.

Pascal took a mental note of the route to the street and opened the cab door to get out.

“Hang on…” the cab driver called after Pascal, but Pascal had already gone. He muttered, “The street is nearby, but he has to go through a shopping district. Since it’s late at night, no one’s there. Isn’t he worried about walking through the area at this hour?”

Bryan frowned on hearing this. He paid the cab driver and went after Pascal.

Shortly after Pascal walked off, he could hear Bryan calling him.

Pascal halted and turned to look at him. He asked stiffly, “Why are you following me?”

“I’m coming along with you,” Bryan told him about the cab driver’s words.

Pascal was a little annoyed. “I’m a full-grown man. Would I be afraid to walk by myself?”

“That’s not what I meant.” Bryan knew Pascal was a proud man, so he would never admit to having any fears. He simply waved his hand and said, “I had some alcohol earlier, so I feel a little stifled in the cab and would rather take a walk.”

Pascal finally shut his mouth and said nothing.

The two of them quietly walked through the shopping district to the street the cab driver mentioned.

The largest commercial district of the wholesale of small products was located here. During operation hours, traffic was very high. Several traffic accidents had happened previously, so roadblocks were placed there and no cars could drive in directly.

As they walked on the empty streets, Bryan suddenly asked, “How do you think Zi Yi will test us tomorrow?”

“I don’t know.”

Bryan glanced at Pascal and felt it was so hard to chat with the guy. He decided to give up chatting and turned to look around.

At this moment, he caught sight of someone quickly hiding behind a pillar.

Bryan hurriedly pulled Pascal back and gestured for him to stay quiet. He whispered, “I think someone is hiding behind the pillar. Be careful. It might be a robber.”

“Hmph.” Pascal was completely unworried. “If he dares rob us, I won’t let him off easy.”

Pascal was a taekwondo black belt, so he was unafraid of fighting.

Bryan had also learned taekwondo as well. He let go of Pascal on hearing this. He then said, “There might be more than one person, so we have to be careful.”

Pascal did not answer him and continued walking.

When they got close to the pillar, the two of them detected a wave of danger and dodged. In a split second, two shadows appeared swiftly from behind the pillar.

The four of them promptly engaged in battle without exchanging a word.

As they fought, another group of people surrounded them. They were surprisingly armed with guns and promptly trained their weapons at them.

...

They instantly stopped fighting.

Pascal and Bryan stood with their backs against each other looking warily at the people around them.

Bryan swore and said, “They don’t look like they are robbers. Is this a test from Zi Yi?”

Pascal did not feel the same way. “We are here to study. Why would she give us a test like this? Do their guns look fake to you?”

Bryan honestly felt this was a test from Zi Yi. “Why don’t we try to break out of their encirclement first? If their guns aren’t real, we can take the chance to leave. If they are genuinely guns, we might end up dying tonight anyways.”

“If you want to die, then be my guest, but don’t drag me down with you.”

The moment he finished his sentence, Pascal took out a mechanical ball. After pressing the mechanical ball, it quickly turned into a gun. He pointed the gun at the attackers and fired. As he fired, he said, “Run.”

BANG! BANG! BANG!

Pascal’s machine gun was surprisingly powerful. The two of them promptly fled the moment the gun fired.

Sadly, it was impossible for them to outrun all these people. They could still hear the sound of gunfire behind them.

Pftt…

...

As they dodged the gunfire, Pascal got hit in his left shoulder.

“Ugh…”

Pascal’s footsteps instantly slowed down.

Bryan hurriedly ran over to pull him along the moment he saw this.

“Forget about me.”

“We came together. I’m not going to leave you behind.”

The moment he finished his sentence, they started running as gunshots fired in the air toward them.

Inside, Pascal and Bryan knew it was impossible for them to outrun the attacker’s gunfire.

As countless bullets flew toward them, an invisible barrier appeared behind them cutting off their paths. A group of well-trained men suddenly appeared out of nowhere and blocked the attackers.
