Correspondence With the Duke’s Maid

“Dear Sister.

Unbeknownst to me, you had become a maid of the Knights’ Corps and when I went to see you, I was told that you were in the Rose territory.

What the hell are you doing?

Anyway, don’t bother Duke Rose.

And while you’re at it, recommend me to the Duke.

Stanley Edigma.”

Brother.

Isn’t it too late to ask that question by letter?

And what kind of person are you to ask me to promote yourself instead of being concerned about the situation?

I roughly shoved the letter from my brother into the envelope.

It was the first letter I had received from my brother since I had arrived in the Rose territory, but I was in no mood to return it.

Still, I had to write a reply, so I took out a notepaper from the drawer.

I have several other letters to write.

I put the letter paper down on my desk and looked over some of the letters I had received.

After arriving at the Rose territory and taking a break, I first sent a letter to my father.

I told him that I was now in the Rose territory, and after some time, he replied back that he was relieved and gave me some dishes recommendations in the area. My father is surprisingly a gourmet, so this information was very useful.

Then I received a letter from Alberto.

He confirms my safety in his clumsy, slightly unexpected, drawn-out letter.

He also said there is some dissatisfaction within the Knights’ Corps because of my sudden transfer, and he hopes I will return soon.

This filled me with so much joy that I smiled.

He also sent me a letter from Niki along with it.

Niki wrote to me, “Is Duke Rose your true love?” and I politely corrected her, as she had written down a story of an extraordinary turn of events.

She also wrote about Alberto, as if my romantic fulfillment was her goal.

She said that he seemed distracted and lonely since I was gone.

Also, she said that she sees him getting irritated easily at times and that he will be better when I come back.

She asked me to come back as soon as possible to have someone to talk to.

Although I was concerned about Alberto’s condition, I’m a little doubtful that it will improve after I return.

However, I do miss Niki, whom I have become good friends with.

I replied that I would like to meet her, too.

And finally, Prince Risel.

He apologized for being the cause of the sudden transfer and then he droned on about how much he missed me.

His gifted education is at its peak here.

If he didn’t have the role of a prince, he could probably pass as a poet.

Or maybe there is someone rectifying him.

Anyway, it could be seen clearly that it was a love letter.

It was very much a love letter.

It took me a very long time to finish reading it.

I wrote a reply to Prince Risel with some polite social pleasantries.

In truth, I didn’t know the right way to respond.

I told him many times that I couldn’t be the Crown Prince’s fiancée.

He sensed that I was concerned about taking on a major responsibility, so he told me in words and letters that he would definitely protect me.

That’s not it.

I know the wish that Rosemary had in her dying moments.

And that wish was also shared by me, Marie.

I know that I can’t fulfill that wish if I become the Crown Prince’s fiancée.

Even so, my heart is not unmoved by the prince’s direct feelings for me.

With a sigh, I made sure that the ink on the letter paper was dry and put it inside the envelope.

To be honest, I was most worried about what to write in response to the letter to Alberto.

Niki’s description of Alberto comes to my mind, and it made me can’t write the right response well.

I put the tip of my brush on the paper and stopped.

I know how to write about it, but I can’t think of the right words.

Anyway, let’s write down what I want to say first.

“I am safe. Please let me work in the Knights’ Corps again when things settle down.”

I felt more at home in the Knights’ Corps than I had expected.
