Chapter 8 The Star Fox

The Gwen Shelter was just a small part of Planet Darvis.

Legolas's ambitions went further than this small shelter. With his knowledge, staying at a single location was shackling his potential. To take full advantage of his future knowledge, he was ready to walk this planet.

His original intention was that after graduating from the Summoner Academy and getting his first contracted beast, he would finally leave the academy on good terms but things were not going as planned.

His decision to spend 3 years in the academy was not made on a whim.

If this was the game, he would have taken the risk to leave years ago without a summoned beast but this time, the game was real.

In Dominator, it was common knowledge that a summoner without his summoned beast was a weakling. Going out when he didn't have even one contracted beast yet was suicide and was why he waited till now.

With the blackmail to take him to the Nightmare Beast Island, all his plans were ruined and Legolas finally decided to risk escaping without a contracted beast.

As he was being taken to the Mountain Toads alongside the other batch of criminals that would be taken to the island, Legolas's brain worked fast and he already got at least 10 escape ideas to work with.

Before he could implement any of them though, his game interface lit up with a notification that made him halt all his plans.

On seeing this notification, Legolas was shocked. Having received one special developer package previously, he never expected to receive another.

And another reason for his great shock was that, unlike the previous special developer package that he had no idea of, he was the one who went behind to secretly create this special developer package.

He created this special developer package to give his contracted beast then unlimited potential, but due to the explosion, he never got to use it.

Now though, he got another opportunity to make use of this cheat package.

Instantly, Legolas changed his mind and followed the other criminals obediently as they were bundled into the Mountain Toads.

Coincidentally, the Nightmare Beast Island was one of the few locations on this planet to find Nightmare Beasts. The Island was extremely dangerous but at this moment, Legolas was not worried about the danger at all.

That night, the Mountain Toad Riders took them all away.

After a night-long ride, the Mountain Toad Riders finally arrived at the Nightmare Beast Island where they dumped all the criminals before riding away.

The criminals had different reactions to being dumped inside the island, but knowing more than them, Legolas reacted instantly.

Being just 15, he was the youngest and smallest among them which enabled him to slip away. While they started fighting among themselves, he found a cave on this dangerous island where he hid in the meantime.

It was not even 2 minutes after he hid before the sound of battle intensified, and this time it was mixed with the sound of crying beasts.

The Nightmare Beast Island had only beasts here and no humans, once humans came, unless they employed measures to mask it, their scent would surely attract the different beasts that formed this ecosystem.

Now, the criminals suffered this injustice. A few minutes later, the rowdiness died down, few criminals were able to survive the first encounter with the beasts.

After everything died down, Legolas remained holed up in his cave as he finally accessed his virtual game interface again.

Unlike the first Special Developer Package which was in the form of an apple, this one was in the form of an orange.

Once he clicked it, unlike the previous time where he was drawn away, nothing dramatic happened this time. Before he could blink, he saw an object that looked like a yam suddenly appear on his palm.

"This is the Nightmare Beast Gene Limit Remover?"

After Legolas asked and got no response, his virtual interface suddenly lit up again with another notification.

Now, Legolas was not just shocked, he was flabbergasted.

Now, Legolas's confidence deflated like a burst balloon losing air. All of a sudden, he felt himself choking as he coughed, his voice lowered. "Please, goddess of luck, if you're out there, favor me this time, I'll do anything for you".

Rex closed his eyes and did the thing.

The little fox howled loudly once it came to life, giving Legolas the chills.

"…" Legolas was left speechless as he looked at the furry little fella.

This was a yellow fox with white dots surrounding its body like the starry sky.

"Hey, why the look? Ain't I attractive enough?"

"…" Legolas was even more dumbfounded now. "Umm…, you can speak?"

"Of course, which fox can't speak? Are you stupid?"

"…" Legolas scratched his head. "Wait…, I thought you're supposed to be my pet, when do pets insult their owners?"

The little fox looked at him with disdain. "Naïve fella".

Legolas could already feel a headache coming dealing with this fox. "I prayed for a Dragon, why the hell did I get a fox? Who needs a fox?"

As Legolas regretted how he just wasted his 5 Gacha Pull chances, the fox after exploring the cave finally came back and spoke.

"I already found what you're looking for".

"And what's that?"

The fox revealed a sly smile. "I already found a Nightmare Beast".

"Huh? So fast? How did you do it?"

This was when Legolas's brain clicked and he remembered to check his new pet's virtual interface status.
