Chapter 852: Issue With The First Battle

Chapter 852: Issue With The First Battle

After a twenty minutes of rest, the one on one battles began. The first match was people from sects that Kana had never heard of. But as she watched the match, the more confused she got. "Sect master, what are they doing?"

The sect master looked down at the stage where the two disciples who were supposed to be fighting were standing there, pointing their swords at one another. "I believe they are yelling at each other…. Maybe a feud?"

"I see…. But it's been five minutes…." Kana did not understand. Did these two disciples come here to yell at each other or to fight a proper battle?

"Yeah… normally this is not allowed. I also do not know what is going on." The sect master frowned and turned to look at the other sect leaders. But they also just shook their heads. Seeing this, the sect master sighed and whispered: "It seems no one knows what is going on."

"I see…" Kana pursed her lips as she sent Ako a message through their mental connection: "Ako, why are they just standing there arguing?"

"One of them is yelling at the other one for something he did to one of his sect mates. While the other is just laughing at him and making fun of him. The overseer doesn't seem to be bothered by it, but I think they may be from the same sect or maybe even related." Ako answered. She was also getting sick of this back and forth.

"Ako, you can take care of it however you see fit. Just don't kill anyone. We already have a lot of deaths due to what happened earlier so let's not have anymore." Kana felt bad about the deaths of the other disciples, but there was not much she could do about it. Chaos was not something that could resurrect life. It could easily take it, consume, change it and maybe if pushed hard enough, create it, but not resurrect it. She still needed her life element in order to do that. But she still had yet to unlock it.

"I will find out now." Ako stood up and walked over to the overseer, who was just sitting there with his eyes half closed, and kicked the chair.

"What!? What are you doing!?" The old man yelled out in anger. He turned his cold eyes on Ako and yelled out: "Do you want to be disqualified!? Get back to the waiting area!"

"More like, do you want to continue being the overseer or not?" Ako asked as she pointed to the stage. "Tournament rules state that you can not sit there and verbally fight. Either actually, fight or forfeit nothing else. They have been arguing like that for almost ten minutes now."

"Humph! What I say goes. If they want to argue for hours, then let them!" The old man was not budging. He did not care what happened on stage as it was his great grand nephew who was telling off the other kid.

"Oh?" Kana's voice rang out. She had been listening to everything that was being said. She landed next to Ako, followed by her sect master as well as the other sect masters. "So you want to waste everyone's time with childish games?"

"Who-Who are you!?" The old man yelled out, his face red with anger. He hated it when everyone argued with him. "Get out of here! No one else is supposed to be here!"

"Old Wen, I think it's you who need to check who does not belong here." Sect Master Tian stepped forward. "Kana's words are our words. You are allowing your own family to make a mockery of our Dragon Festival. How are you going to going to fix this?"

"Sect Master Tian…." Old Wen lowered his head. Sect master Tian was the sect master of the current top sect. He did not dare raise his head.

"Kana, what do you think we should do?" Sect master Tian turned and asked.

Kana looked at Old Wen and then at the kids still bickering on the stage before looking at Ako. "Let's do this. Ako is second to go up on stage, so why don't we call the person she is facing, and then all three of them can fight Ako. She will then decide who gets to face her in the next bracket. This way, we do not lose pace, and we can quickly finish up the first and second matches."

"Hmmm… This is a good idea. Old Wen's family member is the one with his nose held high in the air. The other one… I have no idea who he is." Sect master Tian replied. He seemed to be calling out the reason why Old Wen was allowing this farce to continue. But all the other sect masters couldn't help but roll their eyes. Sect master Tian said he didn't know who the other disciple was, but they were from the same sect!

Old Wen's brow furrowed. He did not know why they were asking this young woman what she wanted to do. He finally raised his head and said: "Sect master Tian, I do not think outsiders should get a say in how the dragon festival works."

"Then why are you here?" Sect master Tian asked. He was starting to think the Old Wen's age was getting the better of him. "We will be doing as Kana has suggested. If you do not like it, too bad! Now do your job and call up the other disciple who was supposed to face Ako."

Old wen gritted his teeth and turned around. He could only give in this time, but he did not understand why sect master Tian was being so respectful of the young woman. This was his first time ever seeing her. He had never seen the young woman at any of the past Dragon Festivals. But since he could not afford to be thrown out or else suffer a serious loss of face he had no choice but to follow orders.

He jumped up onto the battle stage and stood between the two disciples as he yelled out: "Since the first battle does not seem like it will go anywhere, the first and second match will be held at the same time. Three versus one. The winner will get to choose who will go to the next round."
