Chapter 815: The One With All The Luck

Chapter 815: The One With All The Luck

Kana took the north side of the palace while the two teams took the east and west. If this was the proper direction of how the palace was placed, no one actually knew, but Kana decided to call it as such.

She walked down towards the long hall ahead. The walls were decorated with many pictures that were still in good shape. Who the men were in the pictures, Kana did not know. Each one wore fancy clothing and wore a golden crown on top of their head. On the ground was a tattered red carpet and broken bits of what looked to be pottery. Kana wondered if this was a place like Earth if the bits of pottery and paintings would be sold for a lot.

When she reached the end of the hallway, she was met with a grand throne room. There was a throne sitting on top of a high set of stairs that looked out over the rest of the hall. Kana never understood why kings always liked looking down at people. Rulers should never stand above but on the same level as those they are ruling so they can see what they see and feel what they feel.

Although she did not know how the ruler of this world was, she figured he must not have been a nice person. It never even dawned on her that the ruler of this place might have once been the golden bearded old man. Nor did she care if he was or not. Her opinion still would not change about the height of a ruler's seat.

There was one side door that Kana opened to find another hallway that led to a set of stairs leading up. But she did not go down this hallway. Instead, she began searching the throne room. One may wonder why she would search a throne room that was as empty as empty can be, and that was because she was looking for hidden areas. She knew that most castles and palaces had secret passageways here and there. Kana was not subtle about her search either. She picked the throne right up off the floor and tossed it aside to look underneath it. The already falling apart tapestries were all torn off the walls, leaving them bare. She even tore the red rug up and tossed it to the side.

At this moment, with each of her actions, Kana truly looked like a bandit. But she didn't even stop there. She punched the walls, breaking part of them down to the point that you could see the outside. She was really going at it. And hidden away, watching it all happen with tears in his eyes, was the golden bearded old man. "Maybe I should not have added the item looting portion of the World of Belda series…."

Only if he knew that this was Kana's way of doing things when she did not wish to work hard at it. She had a hard enough time in the games with looting things, so since she could do things without popups, she was smashing away, venting all her earlier annoyance out on the palace.

"Found it!"Kana stood in front of a crumbling wall that had a staircase leading down into the depths of the castle. Her lips curled up into a smile as she started climbing down the steps.

The stairs curled down in a spiral fashion down into the darkness.

When she reached the bottom, she was met with a small stone door that she pushed open to reveal an underground tunnel. "An escape route?" Kana pursed her lips but still entered the tunnel to look around. She created a few balls of fire to hover around in front of her as she looked around.

There was a small stream of water running through the tunnel keeping the air moist. It was clear and did not smell, so Kana figured it might be runoff from the mountainside. She walked down the mossy stone walkway that ran right next to the stream until she reached a dead end. Instead of an opening, just another stone wall stood in front of her. The stream seemed to be coming from under the wall that may lead to the outside world.

Seeing how she came to a dead end, Kana felt confused. "If not an escape route, then what is this?"

Kana pursed her lips as she began to look around more. She couldn't seem to find anything that would lead her anywhere. No doors, no nothing. She once again began knocking on the walls looking for hollow points, but she still did not find any kind of entrance to anywhere special.

Scratching her head Kana turned back around but paused her step when a flash of light entered her eyes against the wall near a crevice. It was out of sight and would seem very well hidden if not for the reflection of the dim lighting catching Kana's eye. She walked over to investigate to find that it seemed to be a keyhole of some kind. "A square metal indent that seems to be just the right size for that token thing that the old man gave me, right?"

Her eyes lighting up, Kana took out the cube and placed it into the indent. A loud sound of mechanical gears could be heard as the whole tunnel began to shake. The wall in front of Kana also began to split apart. A bright light could be seen in between the crack that was slowly getting bigger. When the hidden doors were fully open, Kana was met with a sight she had never expected.

As for a certain golden bearded old man, his eyes were wide open As he looked at the sight in front of him. His mouth hung open, unable to understand why he had never seen such a room himself! In all his years, he never knew there was a secret room hidden below the palace. He had searched every inch of the place and knew there was a tunnel here, but she never knew there was actually a hidden room! On top of that she held the key to the room the entire time. He thought it was the key to the treasury which only had a few items with divinity in them, nothing more! But now…. He wished to cry.
