[Honesty]

‘Guard activity record’ is a mini-game set to solve the troubles of ‘Underworld’ while helping Iris-san as a temporary guard.

The content is a game of tag with a time limit.

You will have to seize the target according to the trouble that occurs randomly while you walk around the Netherworld; for example, if it’s a ‘crime’ you will have to catch a ‘criminal’, and if it’s a ‘missing case’ you will have to find a ‘missing person (including pet)’… so is the gist of it.

If the target is found by the player, they will go to the outside of the area to escape; if the player can catch them in the meantime, then that will be a success, if not, it will be a failure.

And depending on the final score, you can get a small number of points corresponding to it and a favorable impression from Iris.

By the way, her favorable impression influences the story in the ‘Underworld’, and will eventually determine whether or not she will follow the protagonist when he gets revived to the real world.

Since Iris-san is originally a character from an additional content, she has no influence on the main story, and she rarely speaks at the main scenario event.

The benefits from her following to the real world are the addition of Christmas and Valentine’s Day events, the release of some sub-scenarios, and the increase in the number of quests in the Adventurer’s Guild.

So, about this mini game. Actually, it’s quite troublesome.

First of all, the map area, namely the ‘Underworld’, is so large that it takes time to chase and catch the target.

In addition, since troubles occur randomly, an overlapping situation, such as a trouble of missing person occurs while you are in the middle of chasing a criminal, is not rare.

Well, if it’s just that much, it probably can be said to be within the range of difficulty of ordinary mini games.

The problem is that you have to give instructions to the NPC, Iris-san, as well as the player to move.

As I said at the beginning, the essence of this mini-game is ‘to help Iris-san as a temporary guard’.

Therefore, Iris will also participate in the map as a helping character.

You can move her around the map by giving her instructions, and she will automatically chase when a target to chase enters her perception range.

(Just that, because Iris’s perception range is ‘too wide’, it was often the case that she’d just end up moving back and forth between places without being able to catch anyone)

Iris’s perception range is very wide, probably due to the setting of her magic eyes; even if it’s beyond a building that is out of sight, as long as the target enters her perception range, she’d notice them and give them a chase.

However, in the original game, it was not possible to prioritize the targets, so if target B enters her perception range while she is chasing target A, she’ll stop chasing target A and start chasing target B – such situation often occurred.

Moreover, the shorter the time limit gets and the higher the score you accumulated, the higher the trouble’s rate of occurrence will be, so on the latter half, she’d become useless.

For that reason, not only the player’s frequent instructions are necessary, but they also have to predict the route of the opponent who escapes while chasing the target, give instructions to her, correct her if she going in a strange direction… and repeats.

(To aim for a high score, you can never overcome the hurdle without her cooperation. It’s not hard as a mini game, but it sure is absolutely annoying.)

In addition, even after you get a high score, Iris’s favorable impression would still continue to be corrected, coupled with troublesomeness of the game itself, I didn’t play this mini game much.

I remember that the VR version player who can play in first person perspective liked it because they could experience a movie-like chase scene and giving instruction to subordinates in a simulated manner, but as expected, when it comes to the repetitions, they gave it a uniformed evaluation, which was ‘troublesome’.

“Now then, in order to protect the peace of the ‘Netherworld’! And in order to get involved with the locals and improve Sakurai-san’s humanity, let’s do our best~!”

“O-oo—?”

“Oo—”

Despite raising my arm a bit to match Iris-san who yelled cheerfully for some reason, I immediately part from them and think up a plan on how to slack off.

Iris-san is my benefactor who has improved the relationship between me and Higaki, but I don’t feel the need to increase her favorable impression because I have no intention of being involved in the original story in the first place.

Well, I know that she has been looking out for me, but this mini-game has no relation to leveling, and since that’s the case, I can’t muster up any motivation.

(Nevertheless, it’s rude to ignore her, right… let’s play along while slacking off moderately.)

When I decided so, ‘Worldly Wisdom +1’ – such notification appears at the edge of my field of vision.

I see, a decision regarding a situation is also deemed as an action, huh. This is a good discovery; this must be how I can have a mutual relationship with the society.

“Then I’ll do my best with my own power without borrowing the help of others!”

“You are strangely brimming with motivation for some reason, Sakurai-san.”

“That is of course! I’ve been indebted to Iris-san after all, I’ll do my best to pretend to be motivated to do this waste of time activity!”

“Honesty is usually a virtue, but Sakurai sure is genuinely demonstrating it in the opposite direction.”

“From your appearance, I guess that was not on purpose, but your nature is really bad isn’t it, Sakurai-san?”

Now then, due to geography, about half of the targets will escape through the back alleys, so while taking position and practice-swinging in one, let’s get a moderate evaluation—!!
