Chapter 1749: OsirisA few months later.

Sam once again lost track of time.

And this time, it is because he had to conquer a very special place within the tower. But he completed half of the tower.

That is the only numerical data he had in his mind regarding his stay in this tower.

He just finished his corruption circulation. Once again his body was clean before he disappeared by that unique pulling force. He sighed as he reappeared at that gray area again.

Sam looked at Hel who has an exhausted look on her face.

This is a new look. They never saw her like this. But the players didn't care.

They waited for their next task so that they could get back to finishing their towers. They know that they have enough time to finish off the towers, but they also knew that the faster they finish this off, the better it is for them.

They don't want to stay in hell for too long.

But no matter how long they waited, the task didn't come.

Before they could ask though, they felt a different force coming into that Grey space.

With a flash, a tall man stood right beside Hel. All the players looked at him curiously.

He is a little taller than six feet. Long legs and partially exposed upper body. But the most distinctive features are his green skin, big and clear eyes, the crown on his head, and finally the weird beard.

"Osiris?"

Sam muttered in confusion. Clear surprise was apparent on his face. He has come across so many gods of different mythologies from back on earth, but he is still surprised when a god from a completely different mythology, particularly one of the oldest cultures has appeared in front of him.

Osiris looked at Sam with that emotionless serene face.

"You are the one from earth I suppose."

Osiris Muttered before looking at Hel.

"I will take it over from here. You can leave."

"I am counting on you. Thank you for agreeing on this."

"No problem. I gave you my word. So, it is my responsibility to do this."

Hel nodded once again and left.

Osiris looked at the players and said.

"Hello. I am Osiris. Some people call me the God of Death and some people worship me as the God of Life. The thing is I am both the ruler of the underworld and the ruler of life in the celestial world.

You can address me with whatever title suits your preference.

Anyway, I am here to take over for the next task you are going to finish in this game. I know that all of you have been subjected to a lot of things without your consent.

If given a choice I wouldn't have taken this up. But I have given my word and I have to finish this responsibility.

I hope you can find it in your hearts to forgive me."

Osiris bowed his head slightly before continuing.

"On to the point at hand. I can promise you that I will be fair to every one of you. I will not hold any bias towards or against anyone.

You can at least expect that from me.

And for the task, I will give you the briefing myself. Let's go.

As he waved his hand, all the players disappeared and reappeared somewhere else.

Sam couldn't help but wonder if all the gods could use something like teleportation. Everyone is able to just to move the players as they wished.

His thoughts came back from wandering as he looked at the city in front of him. Currently, he is hovering over the city along with the other players.

The city looked normal. It is not exactly bustling. But it must be because the sun is not that high yet. It is a little bit later than sunrise. The morning is still cool and warm at the same time.

"This city is currently full of people that I have to punish. They are the worst criminals gathered from many of the territories ruled by my followers.

You will be fighting with them from sunrise to sunset.

As for the remaining time, you will be fighting with something else. I can't show the real thing to you, but it will look like this."

*SNAP*

He snapped his fingers and the surroundings turned dark. The city in front of them also changed, but that change shocked them.

The city that looked normal and decently prosperous suddenly turned into a ruin and the ruin is filled with undead creatures, specters, wraiths, ghosts, liches, and shadow undead. Sam hasn't seen this many undead together since his visit to the realm of the undead.

*SNAP*

Osiris snapped his finger once again and the vision was gone. The city is back to normal.

The city is a special toy created specifically for this test. It would have had more additions if we were doing this at the originally agreed time. But this is the current version.

The competition itself is very simple. You have to fight these people and kill them. Each person is set with a certain number of points and the one who gains the most points by the end of this task wins.

There are some conditions though.

First one is the players cannot use any of the recovery methods. The spiritual energy reserve you have in your body at the start of this challenge is not rechargeable. Once you use all of that energy, you will be considered out of the game.

If all players are out, the task is over.

And by chance, if the players managed to clear the city off of all of the targets, in both day and night of course, then the task is over at that moment as well.

The final condition is something that you should very vary of.

The difficulty of the night more on each day actually depends on how well you perform on the day mode.

The undead creatures I left behind are of special kind. A lot of my followers did a lot of research on necromancy and elemental energy, elemental spirits before they managed to make this possible.

And I twisted it a bit before utilizing it here.

So, the condition is that whatever attacks the players use in the day mode, whether they are your warrior skills, combat techniques, traps, elemental skills including long range, short range, group attacks, or complete fusions, everything will be recorded and absorbed by the city and they will be transferred to the undead creatures at night.

So, if one of you uses a fire elemental fusion at the daytime to kill one target in the day mode, then one target at nighttime will definitely use fire elemental fusion to fight with you.

And this applies to weapons as well.

I guess that you have some really special weapons in your hands, so be careful when you use them. Even if they are complicated or some spirit weapons are given to you by some gods, the formation might not be able to clearly duplicate it, but it will give out a twisted variant of it.

It will be decently powerful enough to give you some serious damage and trouble.

Be careful about using them.

As I said before, I will be absolutely fair and just in this competition. If anyone of you tries to go against the rules or seek help from any of the gods that are acting as the backers in the middle by whatever means, I will take you and trap you in the underworld.

Trust me, it won't be confined and controlled like the one you are experiencing. You would be competing to survive to not disappear along with the heinous of souls that ever entered hell.

In a way, I respect you all for whatever you have accomplished until now. So, don't lose that respect.

And there will be a reward for all of you for being put through all of this. Based on your performance, I will grant a few of your requests. Of course, it might be just one request or a dozen requests based on what you are asking.

And there will be some restrictions to what level of tasks I could accomplish.

Anyway, we can discuss more it after the whole thing is over. I hope you can perform to the best of your abilities. See you later."

With that Osiris disappeared from that spot. The players were also teleported to different parts of the city.

They all appeared in different corners. And as soon as they appeared, they already sense hostility from their surroundings.

The criminals that are arrested in this city are nowhere near restricted like actual prisoners. They are extremely free and they even have a decent of equipment with armor and weapons. They seem healthy.

They are not deprived of anything.

There is certainly no advantage for the players to be had.

And it seems like their location has been instantly given to the prisoners, so all the surrounding prisoners already started running to the players.
