Chapter 75 Who's The Actual Villain?

"Lucas, we tried to get here as fast as we could!" Haya shouted running from the back with Xina and Lya. The monsters kept coming and the situation was getting tenser.

Even if some characters had a mind of their own, they were not systemised to fight against anyone. They were just like puppets, but it was hard for them to think in real time and react on a conscious level.

"Yes, I know," Lucas replied waving his hand in acknowledgement. He looked at the horde that came pouring from the forest. "I have a plan. I want you to start gathering the wounded and take them to the exit point."

Lya nodded and started moving people around. Xina went up to him and gave him a hug. She was clearly relieved that he wasn't dead and that she was able to see him once again. "It's good to see you."

He hugged her back and whispered in her ear. "Thanks for the heads up."

Xina blushed redder than ever before and turned away quickly. She knew what Lucas was talking about.

Some of them were still alive and screaming, while others tried to run back towards the forest. A few of their companions had joined the pursuit and attacked the monsters that were trying to escape.

Some of the creatures that had been chasing the humans broke away from the group and charged towards the castle.

The horde continued moving forward and soon reached the town gate where there were already a lot of bodies lying around. Lucas saw the militia members close the gates and turn off the torches inside. It made sense since the monsters would surely try to break through.

But it also meant that the light from outside might attract more of them.

"We need to take care of them first!" Lucas yelled to the militia members. "Fire arrows into the mass whenever possible!"

They did as he said and fired arrows into the crowd, killing a few. Another monster tried to charge at the gates only to be shot by a crossbowman. The creature collapsed on the ground and the man who had fired the arrow rushed to help his comrades.

The creature collapsed on the ground and the man who had fired the arrow rushed to help the fallen soldiers.

As the horde got closer, it became clear to Lucas that they weren't going to attack the castle. Instead, they were focused on the forest. There were many monsters now and they were all heading towards the woods.

"Something's not right here," Lucas bit his lips.

"They're trying to invade our territory, but why? And what are these things doing?" He whispered.

A loud roar made everyone jump. It was followed by several more similar sounds which brought down the morale of the militia.

"It's the beasts! This time, the ones I told you about!" Lucas yelled, pointing in the direction of the forest. "They're coming out of the woods!"

Lya saw the horde approaching and her heart skipped a beat. She knew how dangerous those creatures were and she didn't want to see any of them in front of her anymore. With a deep breath, she inhaled more air. Her eyes widened when she saw the creatures moving towards the forest.

She immediately understood what Lucas intended and cursed under her breath.

"No, they won't!" Xina yelled grabbing Lucas's arm. "You can't do this! You'll end up dead!"

Lucas ignored her and pushed her aside. He jumped onto the dark rock and stood there looking at the horde.

"What are you planning?" Xina asked fearfully. "How will we survive?

"If we run, then we die. If we stay and fight, then we might live, but we'll be hurt either way." Lucas shook his head. "So instead of dying, we'll make sure the enemy dies first. We will hunt them down and kill them."

Xina stared at him for a moment, and then she nodded. "All right," she said.

"But it's your decision."

Lya was about to protest, but she stopped herself when she realised he was right. For once.

"I don't want to die, but I'll risk my life if it means saving this castle!"

"And I won't give up until every last one of them is dead or imprisoned!" His heartbeat wasn't uncontrollable, he was feeling that adrenaline rushing through his blood, 'Kali, I should find her immediately once this is over!'

The beasts marched steadily forward, leaving behind a trail of destruction and death. They destroyed everything they came across, including trees and houses.

It was terrifying to watch such an unstoppable force destroying everything in its path.

The men of the militia were having a hard time fighting them, especially since their weapons were not strong enough to cause any damage.

The other creatures that were left in the forest had come out of hiding and joined the battle. Most of them were wild animals, but there were also a few that seemed to be powerful magical beings.

The beasts kept advancing and soon reached the edge of the forest. Then they stopped and waited, wondering what would happen next.

"They've stopped!" Lya exclaimed. "How could they stop so easily?"

She heard a loud roar from the forest and looked at her Haya. "That's the beast that I sensed earlier!" Lucas swore under his breath.

The horde of creatures was standing in front of the forest, waiting to see what would happen. However, something else caught Lucas's attention and he raised his hand to point at it. "There! The beast is right there!"

Lya followed his gaze and gasped. She couldn't believe what she was seeing. There was a massive creature standing among the creatures. It looked like a giant animal with four legs and horns growing out of its head.

Its body was covered in fur and it had a huge tail that dragged behind it. It was at least four times bigger than the other creatures, and it was armed with a massive sword in its hands.

"Wait a minute, something is not right here!" Lya stepped back.

The monsters and the attacks, everything was wrong in Lya's eyes, "the system is no longer involved in this!"
