Chapter 61 On The Way To Lya's Castle

When they left the city, it was already getting darker so that made their way easier. All of them managed to smug out without getting into any trouble or fights.

This made Haya and Xina question the storyline again.

The plot wasn't followed again, the moment they came out of the weapon shop, there were supposed to be people waiting for them to fight them. That city was called a Troublemaker city for a reason.

Every single place requires something back if you want to gain anything from them. If you buy weapons, then wait for the fight. If you learn how to control a spirit then again, something will await you.

This place was full of surprises when it comes to gaining, they will always want something in return. With every fight, there should be character development for the players, but since everyone's mind is free, the system is useless to control them.

It can't use them anymore, control their actions or change their ambitions and perspectives. The system pretty much lost the power of helping them to make decisions.

But something could always go wrong, and that scared Haya. If the plot changes again and Lucas stops obeying the system, then his own freedom could be questioned again.

He didn't want that.

"Lucas, when we reach the red field, I must teach you how you could control Renexa's and Peri's power," spoke Haya from behind.

The team was split into three pieces.

Kalaini was leading the way to the castle, since she had an amazing memory and could easily remember places and faces, her power was the most useful now to be in the front.

Nobody wanted to summon the system for the map, Lucas and Kali felt like it would try to embarrass them again, and Haya with the rest wasn't the biggest fan of it as well.

Xina was walking next to Kalaini, like her support even if the two of them just fought not long ago.

Lucas and Kali were walking in the middle, protecting the east and west sides, and Haya was supporting them from behind.

"Yes, I also want to learn how to properly control them, so they could be useful in the future," Lucas spoke while trying to fix his gown.

The place where they were crossing right now looked like old, abandoned mountains but with no snow covered around them.

It wasn't as cold as it was in the previous city, but it still could make your body shiver. Some parts reminded Lucas of pixels as if it was lacking the graphic, 'someone created this place with a very cheap budget,' Lucas smirked.

"Why are you smiling?" Kali asked him softly.

He turned his face to Kali and with some sparkles in his eyes, he replied "remember the old GTA game?"

Kali's mind stopped for a moment, and when raising her eyebrows she gave him a reply, "yes, what about it?"

"So it reminds me of it... The very old and cheap design," Lucas squeezed his lips together after saying it.

Kali looked around and seeing the same low-quality view, she slowly nodded, "for one thing you're right, it does remind me of the old GTA game, now we just need some thugs to come and ask for our money." She placed her hand on her lips and giggled.

Her laugh was everything to Lucas, he was happy to be able to see her relaxing at least for once.

"What is GTA?" Haya asked while listening to their conversation.

"Oh, it's a game from our world, it's filled with gangsters and robberies," replied Lucas to his question.

This raised Haya's interest since he didn't know anything about the place where Lucas and Kali came from, their outfits were from this world when he first met them. But the system told him otherwise, it introduced them as 'new players' for him to find.

He was able to assume that both of them were not from this world.

"What do you do in that game?"

"Oh, you join a gang or can work on your own, and then you accomplish missions and have fun," Lucas's voice was filled with excitement, and his belly was getting the weird feeling as if someone was inside of it.

"What is the fun?" Haya scratched his cheek.

"You can kill people and drive cars like crazy, if you have cheat codes then the police will never arrest you either," Lucas lifted his shoulders up and then down, he liked conversations about games, it was one of his favourite topics.

"Why would you have fun while killing people?"

"Oh, they're not real people, it's mostly the extra players to fill the space," Kali was the one to reply to Haya's question.

To Haya it wasn't about being an extra player. He was a side character but an important one at that part, he had no desire to kill in this world.

"Would you kill people for fun in here too?"

The question of Xina made Lucas and Kali freeze.

Their intentions in talking about that game weren't to make them feel suspicious about their actions, but to kill the dead atmosphere surrounding these mountains.

"You usually just kill them or shoot them when you've accomplished the game and there is no rule to follow it anymore," Kali tried to make them understand that game a little bit more.

"So it's just like us, once we accomplish everything in here, we will be able to do whatever we want," Kalaini nodded her head slowly, getting Kali's point she turned back and looked at the three of them following her.

"We're close, get your guard up, the animals in these mountains are dangerous."

After Kalaini's words, rumbling and roaring were heard coming from behind. A deep, booming noise erupted and the flank of the mountain became a chute of white.

A blowing sound rent the air and a tsunami of snowsluiced down another the mountain they were about to reach.

"Here they come!"
