Chapter 54 When It Comes To The Light

"You are right, let's not destroy their hopes yet..."

Xina rubbed her own neck and then crossed her arms, "we should start moving then."

Haya forced his lips together.

Haya knew an easy road to avoid trouble to reach Lya's castle, but he still expected the people from this inn to attack them just like the last time, "the story is changing..." He bit his cheek.

"It could be because of Izek."

"That's just a speculation, Xina, there's no way he will be coming back. Let's go."

Haya whistled to Lucas and moved his head to the side, it was time to stop playing around and move.

Lucas without any questions pulled the boy's body closer and straightened his legs, "Kali, we have to go." He wrapped his hands around the boy's thin, cold legs.

They finally begin to walk outside of the cold, and snowy city.

Fresh white snow was falling from the sky, hitting everyone's faces as they walked through a bumpy road.

As walking through the streets Lucas looked up at the bright sky covered in dancing, white snowflakes, 'if only this weren't my reality...' A thought ran through his mind then he came back to reality.

Kali was walking behind him, hearing her heavy breathing he assumed she was getting tired of walking, 'I can't drop the boy and carry Kali...' He slowly moved his shoulders back to make sure she's okay,

"Kali, do you want to rest?"

She looked out of breath. Kali's stamina wasn't the strongest in her human form and it seemed like a long journey to Lya.

At some point, Lucas was relieved that Kali was in her human form because how else would she survive on this slippery road?

"No, it's okay..." She inhaled, "we need to move."

"Kali, we can rest if you're feeling tired?" Haya interrupted their conversation again.

The cold and shiny road was brightening its way, and making it more visible to see what was ahead of them, Kali didn't want to make them stop walking.

She leaned down and placed her hands on her knees, inhaling and exhaling air out of her lungs, "It's because of the system." Haya spoke to her directly.

Lucas turned his head to Haya and asked him, "what does the system have to do with her being so tired?"

An uncomfortable silence broke out again.

There was no answer that Haya could give to him right now. It was his second time participating but his first time seeing a dragon in a human form.

During their first journey, Izek's dragon was different. It didn't have the ability to turn back into a human or run out of energy.

The dragon was in different colour also, it took Haya a while to figure out why every dragon in this story have different colours and what was the reason behind it.

Now looking at Kali in this situation it kinda made sense to Haya why would she be so tired, "we can rest now until you get better." He removed his backpack and started searching for something inside it.

"There..." He sighed when pulling out a small golden key, "we can go there."

"Go where?" Lucas clenched his jaw.

"There's a place where we could rest, but it will take some of our points later on." Haya was drumming with his fingers.

Collecting and saving points was a number one priority for him, they couldn't allow losing any since it was important to keep their points in check. The system would take away their skills with points, slowly weakening and taking them down.

It would be hard to fight a team who would go against them if they didn't have many skills and points.

With each point, their avatars get stronger, except for Lucas's. His avatars were meant to be strong from the beginning of the story.

Haya knew if they would stop to rest it would slow them down but could save them a lot later. If Kali would rest and then go back to being a dragon that would force their situation to change for the better.

"Allowing Kali to rest will be helpful, also the boy is tired too, it's best if we all stop to eat and rest."

"Haya, is this place far?" Lucas's tone was low as he worried about Kali getting sick.

She gave her coat to this boy and was wearing some thin pants and a crop top that was exposing her belly.

Lucas didn't like it, but he also couldn't stop Kali's kindness from doing what she thought was right in her eyes.

The snow kept falling, covering their skins.

Their bodies were warm enough to make the snowflakes melt instantly, "Lucas, don't you think it's pretty?" Kali asked him while removing small water drops from her naked shoulders.

"It is pretty, indeed." Lucas nodded his head.

The weather wouldn't be that bad if Kali was wearing something warmer and this boy had socks or at least shoes to cover himself from the winter breeze.

"We can enter this place." Haya pointed at a small brown house in front of them.

It looked similar to the weapon shop from the outside but the inside could be completely different again, that's why Lucas decided not to question anything and just follow Haya's steps.

Haya walked closer to the door and inserted the golden key inside the lock. It seemed like it fit perfectly as if it was made for them to enter, 'was this place a part of the game?' Lucas blinked his eyes and moved his neck to the side.

Experiencing small back pain, he didn't want to let the boy walk by himself since he had no shoes on. Lucas stretched his shoulders, pushed them back and to the front and held the boy tighter, "we're almost there." He whispered to him as he waited for Kali to enter first.

When everyone went inside, Lucas then followed them too. He lifted the boy's body a little bit up and stepped inside, "ooh, that's what I'm talking about."
