Chapter 16 In The Middle Of Nowhere

"That's a good point, Kali." Lucas nodded in agreement to her statement, "how do we get there?" he wondered as well.

The confidence of a minute ago was already gone, 'yeah, we're screwed.' He nodded his head.

[System activated.]

[A map of Karimo]

The system opened a transplanted blue window that looked like a systematic app to Lucas and Kali. The map had a red dot and a blue dot, as if showing them where they were and where they needed to go.

Lucas carefully touched the screen to see if he could do it phisically, and his hand went right through it, like a ghost's. "Daamn." This surprised him, for he'd never seen anything like it.

[Follow The Ted Line To Reach The City Of The Elves.]

"Wait, will the map disappear?" Lucas asked the system.

[No, You Can Request It At Any Time]

"Kali, are you good with directions?"

"I'm, but I wouldn't trust myself a hundred percent." Her tone sounded doubtful.

'Okay, let's see, the purple trees in the middle of the mountains are here, which means we're the red dot, and the strange white land has a blue dot, which means that's the elf city.' He scratches his head.

It wasn't difficult for him to remember maps, he'd played too many video games where there were similar maps and he always analysed them: 'So if we go to the left, we can reach it faster.' He noticed a strange black moving dot.

"What's that?" He spoke aloud, "Kali, look, that black dot is moving." He pointed at it.

The black spot was also moving slowly towards the elf city, 'What could that be?' He bit his cheek, thinking that it would help him concentrate.

"Hey, System, what's that black moving blur?"

[Don't Bother Me]

[Goodbye]

"Gee, this system is really helpful." He looked up and looked at Kali, "Do you think this moving part is dangerous?"

Kali sighed and shook her head, "I don't think so, because the system didn't even bother to say anything."

"Yes, that makes sense." He agreed with her and turned back to the map.

The map showed him some rather unique places, he saw white land that was probably his destination and tall grey trees in 3D that were in their direction. He stepped closer to the screen, he wanted to zoom in with his fingers, but that was impossible to do.

"Kali, I think I know where we should go now, hey system, how long will it take us to get there?"

[System activated]

[I'm busy, Don't Bother Me]

[Goodbye]

"Lucas, I think the system really doesn't like us."

"Yeah, I think so too." He cast a hostile look in the air.

"Let's go."

With his last words the map disappeared from their path, 'okay, we should go west, it's shorter that way.' Lucas remembered the line that led to the blue spot.

He breathed in more air, which helped him concentrate a little bit more.

Eventually they moved towards the forest with the purple trees. They both walked slowly and observed their surroundings.

Lucas' feet shuffled through the scree, but it was even harder for Kali. Her large dragon body was hit by creaking branches. Her big feet made a loud noise every time she stepped on the ground.

*dum* *dum *dum*

Kali stood out in the forest, which looked quiet and peaceful, it was already too easy to get noticed.

The leaves in the forest rustled constantly. It was warm, like summer in their world, and the gentle wind whistled around the trunks, adding to the small birds' songs.

"It's so quiet, don't you think it's strange, Kali?"

"I mean, a little, but maybe this place is peaceful after all?" Kali answered him as she placed her big foot on disturbing leaves.

"Yeah, but something doesn't feel right." Lucas frowned, 'something is really fishy here.' He thought.

He felt very uncomfortable, almost as if someone was watching him from above. This feeling sent a shiver down his spine and his heartbeat also increased for a weird reason.

Lucas had this strange feeling of self-protection, the same thing happened before they entered the comic shop. "Kali, just be more aware of your surroundings." He whispered to her.

The forest was so quiet that Kali could easily hear every single word that came out of Luca's mouth. "Understood." She watched her guard.

*Pur* *Pur*

A small, green, furry, fox-like creature appeared in front of them. It had four ears and a small, red nose. The creature's eyes were huge and golden, its tail looked like a fox's but was rather fluffy.

The creature had a tiny, pink-looking diamond on its forehead.

*pur* *pur*

It made a sweet sound all the time.

"What's that?" Lucas looked at it.

He wasn't disgusted by it because it looked cute, like a little cat, and it didn't look harmful to his eyes.

[System activated]

[The Poisonous Peri]

[Make This Peri Like You]

[Goodbye]

"Poisonous?" They both repeated it at the same time.

"That little creature doesn't even look poisonous!" Lucas objected to the system, 'this is really tricky, the Toburo that looked like it could eat me at any time was called a peaceful creature and this cute little furry one is poisonous, it's like the sexes out there, again it's all very confusing.' Lucas kept this thought to himself, as he wasn't alone.

If he talked about this outside, he could probably get killed.

"Okay, Kali, how can we get him to like us?" He asked her, thinking that she might know the answer.

"How would I know? I'm a dragon, you idiot."

"Wait, are you telling me that I'm the one who's to make him like me? How on earth am I supposed to do that, Kali?" He raised his voice.

This little thing was cute, but now it worried him because the system indicated that it was poisonous

[System activated]

[Don't get poisoned]

[Goodbye]

"Well, that was encouraging." Kali smirked, knowing it would be Lucas' job to get this creature to like him. "Go on, get on with it."

Lucas stretched his neck and bit his lips, 'that bitchy system,' he muttered.

He slowly stepped a foot forward and breathed in more air. His lungs were already filled with too much oxygen so he was forced to exhale immediately. He stepped a little closer to the thing and bent his knee slightly so that his body moved forward.

"Hey, little guy." He reached out his hand as if to stroke it.

The peri-being blinked its eyes, which had large pupils, and moved its head to the side, not understanding what was going on. It looked cute, but when it saw Lucas' hand, the creature decided to bite him.

It opened its mouth and suddenly it looked bigger than his whole head. Its teeth were as sharp as an alligator's and it swallowed Lucas' hand.

"AAaaaa!" He screamed as he was startled, "what the hell was that now?"

When suddenly someone landed on the ground from above and cut open the Peri's mouth with a sharp blade.

He looked like a human and had a black hoodie on his head that hid his face. Lucas immediately withdrew his hand and looked at this person.

"Who're you?"
