Chapter 234 An Exciting Start

"You are Zhan Chen?", the beautiful lady looked towards Zhan Chen with a scrutinizing look in her eyes.

"Yes, my lady. It is my pleasure to meet a beauty like you in this place", Zhan Chen replied in a straight face. Lu Tai Cang felt speechless after hearing the reply of Zhan Chen. "This brat!", his mouth twitched as he didn't know what to do with Zhan Chen.

Lu Mingxi stood stunned for a moment after hearing Zhan Chen's reply. she had never thought that a young man like Zhan Chen would greet her in such a frivolous way.

"Don't you think you should greet me more politely", she asked Zhan Chen.

"We should be polite to those whom we really respect. As for you my lady,. I have much adoration than respect", Zhan Chen replied.

"Have you seen me before?", Lu Mingxi asked with a slightly confused look on her face. Zhan Chen shook his head in response to Lu Mingxi.

"Then how can you tell that you adore me rather than respecting?", Lu Mingxi asked with a puzzled look in her face.

"This brat is really something. I can only prey that Mingxi do not fall for his spohistry", Lu Tai Cang thought inside his mind. He took a look at Zhan Chen 's group and saw verying expression on each of their faces.

Zhan Qingyue was feeling amused that her little Chen was troubling a tribulation realm senior. Li Shu and Kai Min had a smile on their faces as they enjoyed the conversation of Zhan Chen. The only person who was feeling exasperated was Li Yan. "This jerk is at it again", she thought to herself with an irritated look on her face.

Lu Mingxi didn't realise when she started to have a conversation with Zhan Chen. Zhan Chen had a natural charm where a girl couldn't push him away easily. In her case, she had heard a lot about the prodigee from the Zhan clan.

Now that she had started inquiring about him, she didn't realise how her little interest was turning into burning curiousity. She shifted her attention only after hearing the gasping sound coming from the crowd nearby.

"It is getting started finally", Zhan Chen murmured to himself after looking at the distance.

The grand sect competition was being held at the vast ground beneath the hills. There were five circular formations which were currently lit with bright light.

The light signalled the activation of ancient formations. Everyone looked with bated breath as they wait for the five ancient formations to activate completely.

It took a while for the formations to activate completely. Loud rumbling sound came from the ground and five huge stone platforms came out from the places where the formations were located.

"Finally", crowd erupted into loud noise after seeing the full activation of the ancient formations.

"What is that?", a cultivator from the Lu family pointed at the distant sky.

A huge flower spaed disk was coming towards the grand sect competition with a breathtaking speed. "Here comes the Spirit palace cultivators", Lu Tai Cang spoke.

The flower shaped disk slowed down after approaching the surrounding hills. It crossed over a hill and stopped above the ground located in middle.

Five cultivators stepped out from the flower shaped disk first. They stood in a ordered manner as they waited for the other cultivators to step out from the flying disk.

"All of them are peak Tribulation realm experts", Zhan Chen muttered after taking a look at the five ctivators from the Spirit palace. Few moments later an amiable looking old man stepped out from the flower shaped disk. He didn't have any imposing aura but a frown appeared on Zhan Chen's face after seeing him.

"A middle stage emperor", he murmured to himself and waited for the other cultivators of the Spirit palace to step out from the flower shaped disk.

Few moments passed and finally the impatient crowd could see the appearance of remaining cultivators of the Spirit palace.

Sound of gasps came from everywhere after they saw the appearance of remaining Spirit palace cultivators. They were a pair of sisters who walked out from the flying disk.

Both of them were exquisite beauties with contrasting nature. The older looking one among them was wearing a female armour and was looking extremely valiant. The younger one was little shy as she took cover behind her sister and observed the crowd with curiousity in her eyes.

"How is it possible? Two innate bodies at once. Moreover, the younger one has the heaven grade Wood spirit body", Zhan Chen thought to himself with surprise in his eyes.

The crowd erupted in noise after seeing the two exquisite girls from the Spirit palace. Zhan Chen found out about theit identities after listening to the animated talk among the cultivators.

The name of the older one is Chi Zhiqing while the name of younger one is Chi Shuying. Both of them were famous as the twin beauties of the Longyang city.

Their identities were more eye-catching than their beauties because they were the only descendants of the palace master of the Spirit palace.

"Thanks everyone for coming to the Grand sect competition. As always, our Spirit palace will conduct the Grand sect competition.

We five will be the judge of preliminary rounds.

Due to the huge number of cultivators, the first round will be the elimination rounds.

Each battle platform can accomodate hundred cultivators. Thus, five hundred cultivators can participate with each round of competetion.

The rules are simple. It will be a chaotic fight among the cultivators. The battle will continue untill the last person left standing on each battle platform", one of peak Tribulation realm experts of the Spirit palace announced to the crowd.

Young cultivators started to bee line towards the ground after the announcement was made. "Young master Chen, what should we do?", Kai Min asked Zhan Chen.

"Wait for a while. Watch the first round and you can decide for yourself whether you want to join the competition or not", Zhan Chen replied. He threw a look at Li Yan and she also nodded at him.

This competetion is going to be bloody but it is a fair one. Cultivators need to stand out from the crowd if they want to catch the attention of the sects", Zhan Chen thought to himself.

It didn't take time before the battle platforms were filled with cultivators. There were no lack of enthusiastic cutivators who volunteer themselves for the first round of the competetion.

"No one is allowed to attack before receiving the signal. You will hear three beatings of spirit drum. Only after it, you can attack eachother", a judge of the peak Tribulation realm reminded the competetors. His voice was infused with essence energy. So, every cultivator present in the surrounding heard his voice.

Three huge drums brought to the middle of the ground by the Spirit palace cultivators. Three robust looking cultivators among them stepped out who were holding two hammers in both of their hands.

With a signal from the judge, they downed their hammers and loud rumbling sounds reverberated in the air.

Their coordination was good and the sound of three spirit drums suppressed each and every sound in the surrounding. Their third beating signalled the beginning of the grand sect competition and the first round officially began.
