Chapter 2057: Divvying the Spoils

Chapter 2057: Divvying the Spoils

Yun Yi’s transaction with Unrest had been a gamble with two potential outcomes. The first was that she might have a chance to come back to life and escape from death if Unrest didn’t harbor any ulterior motives.

If he did, she would use the final spark of life preserved in the Imperial Seal to eliminate him. That would also scatter her to the four winds and consign her to death.

The situation in front of them was the second possibility.

Yun Yi was dead.

Her vitality was the strength that propelled the Imperial Seal to deliver a thorough beating to Unrest. Lu Yun never thought that the final traces of power she left behind would be so formidable that a nihil powerhouse wouldn’t be able to fight back!

Indeed, the woman who had the right to participate in the grand game and complete the final plans to revive the primordial world of immortals was no ordinary soul.

Unrest squawked with terror and outrage, trying to break through the void a few times so he could return to nothing. However, the strength of the Imperial Seal was so magnificient that it restored the void whenever it was split open. Unrest had no chance to leave.

Through the bridge of life, all secrets about the nihil cultivation level traveled from Unrest’s body into Lu Yun’s mind. He operated formula dao at the same time to deduce as much as he could about it.

With his current cultivation level and the fully evolved Tome of Life and Death, he could discern everything there was to be known about the nothing.

“So my daughter really is dead…” sounded a grief-stricken voice as the primordial heavenly emperor appeared. The Imperial Seal landed in his hand and he flung out a backhand, suppressing the struggling Unrest to the point that the heavyweight couldn’t move.

Lu Yun raised his head and regarded the newcomer with a slight frown. He’d drawn the primordial heavenly emperor into an akasha ghost, but the man had freed himself from that state and returned to being a true living being.

He’d come back to life and must have done so when Lu Yun was in the Three Thousand. The young man wouldn’t have been unaware of the development otherwise.

“She wouldn’t have died if you’d appeared a second earlier,” Lu Yun said quietly.

“I am no match for Unrest,” sighed the emperor after a long moment. “I wouldn’t be able to suppress him if it wasn’t for Yun Yi keeping him under control. He’d kill me instead.

“I’ll say it, I am less than my daughter. I don’t even know what she was doing or wants to do. I only thought she wanted to revive the primordial world of immortals and conquer this part of existence.”

He laughed mercilessly at himself. “Now I know that she wanted to create a real existence, but what’s the point of knowing now?”

“It’s never too late to know.” Lu Yun didn’t fully believe the strange emperor. It didn’t seem that much of what he said was true. Maybe he’d turn on Lu Yun at any second.

“You’ve killed Wei Lie, haven’t you?” He suddenly thought of the man.

“How would I dare do anything to him? He’s the Dao King’s disciple. I just killed his past and future self to refine this body. His present self is fine and running affairs in the World of Immortals on his master’s behalf.”

Wei Lie was Shenyu, the one that the Hongmeng Tower had titled the Runaway King. Ordinary people would never catch the Dao King’s eye, only someone like the ancestor of dao forms had the right to become the Dao King’s disciple.

But Shenyu was only Shenyu now; everything that’d been Wei Lie was no longer. This was also done with the Dao King’s tacit approval, or the primordial heavenly emperor would have never dared be so bold.

Unrest was beet red as he furiously glared at the emperor and Lu Yun. Both of them were ants in existence yet to reach nihil, but these two ants were making use of the Imperial Seal to devour his power!

Indeed.

Lu Yun was imitating the life form of a nihil being while the primordial heavenly emperor was beginning to absorb Unrest’s power. Once he was finished, the powerhouse would scatter upon the wind and the emperor would be a new nihil powerhouse.

All of it was planned. In Yun Yi’s plots, she would attack Unrest even if he didn’t harbor ulterior motives so that her father and Lu Yun could divvy the spoils.

But his betrayal was also within her calculations. She wouldn’t have purposefully left the Imperial Seal to tempt him otherwise.

While Unrest snarled and howled, there was nothing that he could do. There were plenty of other sealed nihil powerhouses in the World Heart and they were absolutely delighted to see a peer being slowly devoured. Only in schadenfreude could they find some joy in their misery.

“Hoi hoi hoi, little fellows, how about you let me out too?” boomed one of them. “I just wanted to watch the show back in the day, but Spacetime and Ancestor got the better of me, the damned old farts.

“If you let me out, I’ll give you a replica on par with all of Unrest’s power. How about it?”

“Demonfire, your name is well known in the void. We’ll be the first to die if we let you out,” the primordial heavenly emperor snorted before Lu Yun could respond.

The speaker blinked, completely taken off guard that the other knew his name. So they were acquaintances!

“Oh hang on, so it’s Primordial,” Demonfire roared with laughter. “Primordial, your death was a grim and nasty affair. To think you’d come back to life in Ancestor’s patch of existence! Tsk tsk tsk, you sired a good daughter.”

Demonfire shrank back after his response, unwilling to provoke the primordial heavenly emperor.

The emperor didn’t deign to respond.

“So you are a nihil powerhouse?” Lu Yun realized as he watched the emperor furiously absorb Unrest’s power. He didn’t dare take part in that, even with the Tome of Life and Death.

“It’s all in the past. I was once stronger than Unrest and Demonfire just a pipsqueak.” Having paid a visit to earth, the primordial heavenly emperor had picked up some Earth sayings. “However, I am still less than even one of the overseer’s fingers.”

“The overseer is that strong?” Lu Yun’s heart skipped a beat. He could sense that Demonfire was far stronger than Unrest, and he was just a pipsqueak to the primordial heavenly emperor? Yet the emperor couldn’t withstand one of the overseer’s fingers?

“Too strong, he really did use just a finger to kill me.” The emperor shook his head. “I’m afraid there is no one in the universe who can withstand him.”

Lu Yun nodded without a word. He could probably crush the overseer with a finger if he entered the nihil, became one with the Tome of Life and Death, and turned into the one of dao. But what was the point of living as a being with emotions or desires?

Perhaps that version of him would take joy in his existence then, but the Lu Yun of now didn’t want to turn into thought.

Where there was a will, there was a way. Since the overseer was that strong, surely Lu Yun could be the same. He had the Tome of Life and Death, after all.

Purple light flashed through the air in front of them as a figure walked out of the radiance. The primordial heavenly emperor shook to see the other, the bleakness in his eyes growing stronger.
