Chapter 89 89 - Another Killing Spree

The little fire spirit came out advancing into the ice worm. As it advanced and dug into the living flesh of that creature, a smoke with a horrible stench was spewed out of the creature's body. That gigantic beast was screaming and moving uncontrollably, enough for Damian to run out of the way of the creature as fast as possible.

The tanker's face had completely changed from serious and angry to a face of deathly dread, his eyes were red and his skin pale and bluish from the cold. Running towards the group as Kodiak, Ruri and Nivia grouped up again.

"Now!" Kodiak shouted as he changed into Centaur form, one of the strongest druid forms for magic attacks. Nivia and Ruri created a shield in front of the four of them. Meanwhile, on the mountain, Roy and Snowy were paying attention to the uncontrolled movements of the crystal worm. That creature was moving uncontrollably as the fire spirit destroyed it from within.

The ground was vibrating with that creature's movements, snow was falling from the mountains without stopping. When that creature hit the ground with its body, a wave of snow flew in all directions, along with the vibration of the attack.

* VWUUUSHH VUUUUM WUUUUMP *

A burst of gunfire was fired at that worm's wound, Roy was trying to get the monster to stop moving so much. Inside that worm's body, the spirit was still digging, but that fire creature didn't seem to be finding the crystal or the bottom of that monster. That could take much longer than Ryan imagined.

<I can feel the life of that creature fading away. Eliminate it now while we still have time, I see a wave of monsters coming.

Nyx was flying slightly above Ryan, securing the group's position. Sighing, he began to channel all the demonic energy he possessed. Pulling one of the katanas from his inventory, he pointed it toward the creature and then lunged forward.

Within seconds, he began flying around the creature, he ended up getting aggro from the monster, but that wasn't a problem with his speed.

Ryan's demonic aura possessed such intense heat that an intense smoke arose around him, it was all the moisture in that place heating up and boiling over in seconds. Wherever he flew, a mist appeared making it difficult to see the already stunned monster. The creature was spinning its own body until, with all energy left, it launched itself into the air coming out of the hole in the center and revealing its colossal size.

The monster was easily the size of a fifty-story building, most of the monster's body was sunk below that icy earth. Then Ryan could see the monster's tail before it quickly descended to the ground again. The whole area was vibrating as that monster dug underneath, a tense atmosphere arose in the group, Roy was vigilant with his rifle, trying to see where that creature was going to come up.

Kodiak and the rest of the group members were worried about the vibrations, it was as if at any moment that monster might come up and devour them from below.

Then the monster jumped out, just a few feet away from the four travelers on the ground. Before the creature could enter the hole again Ryan cut that monster's body in half. The monster's head fell off as if it was dead, but the rest of its body kept moving. The part where the monster was cut off quickly became a mouth, inside each of the rings that made up the monster's armor was a continuous series of teeth.

No matter where it was attacked, that creature would easily transform into a smaller, faster version. What was worse was that now, the monster was no longer suffering from the pain of its injury. Emerging outward, that creature roared one last time.

The sound of that monster's scream echoed throughout the region, vibrating even the distant mountain range that formed a barrier around that sea of snow. The fire spirit had succeeded in eliminating that monster, but with the silence of that beast's absence, a more disturbing noise arose.

Roy's white panther was the first to notice the problem, turning intently to the hunter's back. Next, Nyx broke the news to Ryan.

<An army of icy apes is near>

'I don't know these creatures...'

Turning to Kodiak, Ryan shouted "SOME MONSTER ARE COMING"

The Druid took a step back in amazement "HOW MANY?"

Then Roy replied from the mountain "IT'S AN ARMY. THEY LOOK LIKE SNOW COLORED APES"

Those creatures were coming down from the mountain, moving with maximum speed toward the group. The monkeys were roaring with all their might, there were females and males, and pups were being carried on the backs of their parents. The eye of those monkeys was glowing with a blue light, as they drooled and roared with all their might.

"Kodiak! I see a village on the other side of that mountain, go around with the group" Ryan said, as he flew towards Roy.

"What do you want to do?" The redhead said in amazement.

"Go with the group. I won't be able to help if I don't kill some mobs" Ryan then activated his demon wings and flew off towards the icy apes.

Roy just nodded and took off sliding through the snow, coming down with his panther and running with all his might towards the group.

The creatures were advancing down the mountain from all sides. The number was so great that from that distance, the monkeys looked like ants coming out of an anthill. Channeling all his mana, Ryan tried to pour this energy into the dead mountain floor, even though it was covered in snow, there was still a small layer of frozen plants and roots waiting for a more favorable time.

With a smile on his face, he activated 'Eternal Garden' and 'Hyper Anthesis'. In the same instant, that beaten bush began to grow with ease, the roots that had been lying below ground in a kind of hibernation woke up and sprang out. By controlling the whole area, he managed to make the roots form a kind of barrier.

That horde of creatures was at least thirty meters away from Ryan. By controlling the roots, he caused a barrier to form on three sides trapping those monsters. The monkeys were advancing, uncontrollably, toward him. With his magic pistol, he began to shoot those creatures down. For each monster, a shot in the head, yet this didn't seem to be very effective.

Clasping both hands together, Ryan made that thorny root fence start to hold the monkeys back. But this didn't seem to be having any effect, the moment the first icy monkey realized his presence, those creatures started jumping towards Ryan. Some were throwing snowballs while others were trying to bite him.

With quick cuts, he was managing to eliminate those creatures. But the feeling was strange, they were not engaging in combat, just responding to the attacks. Still. Ryan needed to raise his Kill Streak if he wanted to finish that dungeon safely.

The sun in that region was shining, illuminating the white snow in a kind of mirror. The heat from the sun was reflected off the white snow, making it possible to get burned not only by the ice, but by the sun itself. This gave him an idea, dropping his sword, he channeled into one of his hands a small sphere of mana.

Using 'Judgement of the Sun' he created a second sun in the palm of his hand. That sphere grew larger and larger as it began to heat up and grow. Ryan was on his guard, deflecting the icy monkeys' attacks. 'I think this will work'

He thought, launching the sphere into the center of that crowd of monsters.

The sphere of light grew larger and larger, Ryan then ran off the mountain, hiding in the shadows of the wall. Within seconds, the Judgement of the Sun had grown to the size of a car, and then it grew to the size of a school bus. The sphere was emitting a light so hot that the monkeys were being blinded by the simple reflection of the light on the snow. The heat was increasing with speed, until the monkeys began to die before the thick layer of snow had even melted.

The cries of pain from those creatures was deafening. The noise started out thin, with hundreds of pups dying, but soon after, the noise became louder. It was the females dropping dead. Last, agonizing in the heat were the males, who continued to resist for a few minutes.

The snow was melting, but those creatures had already completely lost the ability to see. So, disoriented, they were being suffocated by the heat of that second sun. Those monsters were not prepared to withstand such a high temperature. The fur of those monkeys was thick, and resistant to cold and water, they were being suffocated and dehydrated.

With each creature killed, Ryan's demonic energy increased, so he converted that energy into mana and charged the second sun even more. By the time the screams were over, all the snow in that region had melted away. The ground was covered with mud and bodies. While thick, thorny roots protruded out of that beaten, dead earth.

[577+ Kill Streak]

'My energy has reached maximum again... Now I should be able to fight what they were running from...' Standing in front of hundreds of bodies, Ryan was walking towards the other side of the mountain. Those creatures would have no reason to attack or migrate with their young in such desperation.

A distant sound echoed through that silent valley, it was an explosion. The sound was coming from the other side of the mountain, activating its wings and flying higher than the mountains, Ryan's eyes widened with surprise.

He was not the only triumphant one in the skies of that ice valley, a few miles away a gigantic blue dragon was attacking what looked like a bear village.
