Chapter 50.2 – Full of Overbearing Confidence (2)

The Emperor’s indifferent attitude towards Rong State’s envoys trickled to his subordinates, and the entire court did not treat them with any warmth. Coupled with their provocation during the banquet, the officials of Liang did not have any good opinions towards these Rong State barbarians.

The Four-Sided Pavilion was quiet and deserted, and even the caretakers at the embassy treated them much colder after the banquet.

The people of Rong cursed for a bit, but they continued to eat and drink their fill, as if they couldn’t sense the lack of welcome from Liang.

The date of the competition had not been decided yet, but Xie Hongyi who was “shouldering the hopes of Rong State” weren’t just staying at the Four-Sided Pavilion like others were thinking. He had been going out all the time lately, his footprints covering almost the entire capital, making those who saw him think that he was just wandering around aimlessly.

The same was true on this day. Xie Hongyi left the Four-Sided Pavilion early in the morning with two servants. Strolling from East Street to West Town, then from West Town to South Gate, he went and bought a bunch of random stuff. Even though the people of Rong were strong, his two servants were almost hunching from carrying those goods.

Fortunately, Xie Hongyi was also tired of shopping by noon, so he found a restaurant on the street to eat.

Not letting the servants follow him, Xie Hongyi entered the private room by himself. As soon as he entered, he saw an old man whose hair and beard had already started turning white standing inside. The old man was dressed in plain clothes and looked ordinary, other than a pair of clear sharp eyes that vaguely showed that he wasn’t someone ordinary.

Xie Hongyi wasn’t surprised that there was someone in the private room. He walked in on his own and closed the door again. Because he was still young, he wasn’t tall enough and had to look up at the old man, saying, “Qi Bo?”

When he was looking at Qi Bo, the latter was also looking at him. His eyes were calm, as if he was merely looking at goods for sale.

Xie Hongyi was born as a noble. He had never been looked at with such eyes before, and his heroic-looking brows frowned immediately. Before he could angry, Qi Bo opposite him had already looked away and said, “I wonder why Little Master has come to seek me?”

Qi Bo’s attitude at this moment was a bit distant, as if he just saw an inferior good and was vaguely unhappy. He had his own pride – facing the two little masters Lu Qipei and Lu Qicheng, he was still willing to bend over at times, but he obviously didn’t have such a good temper in front of others.

Even though the youth in front of him looked somewhat similar to Lu Qipei, him coming to visit obviously had something to do with it.

Xie Hongyi laughed angrily at his attitude. The youth also had an unruly attitude; even his royal uncles had to give him face in Rong State. When had he ever been made so angry before? He immediately said ‘good’ repeatedly and then said to Qi Bo, “Very good, you really don’t understand your status!”

But Qi Bo did not buy what he said and still looked at him with that same critical gaze, “Is your status superior? Is mine inferior?”

He asked this question as if the noble youth’s status could not be compared to a butler – no, not ‘as if’, there really was contempt in his eyes!

Because of this, even though Qi Bo didn’t say much, his arrogant and contemptuous attitude still made the youth jump up in anger.

Xie Hongyi took a few breaths as his small chest rose and fell sharply. He wished that he could call his servants immediately to kill this blind old fool in front of him! But he knew that it was impossible; just to see him, he had to come secretly and steal his father’s seal to deceive the other party.

But no matter what, the person in front of him was just a subordinate. How dare he talk to him like this!?

Xie Hongyi went through the trouble to follow the envoys to Liang, and tried his best to invite Qi Bo to this small restaurant – obviously, it was all for a purpose. But as soon as he met him, he knew that things were not as easy as he thought, and the old man across him was not as easy to get rid of. He wanted to put on airs to make the other party compromise, but he simply didn’t care about him.

Filled with youth, Xie Hongyi’s eyes flashed with ruthlessness.

However, Qi Bo was an experienced veteran. How could such a young boy hide his emotions from his perception? He immediately said with a sneer, “I advise the Little Master to go back where you came from. Things here aren’t something you can meddle with.”

At that moment, Qi Bo’s aura turned intimidating. Even though the young man had a noble background and was knowledgeable, he was still a little taken aback. He took a step back and looked alert, and his gaze at Qi Bo turned wary. He asked, “Who the hell are you!?”

As soon as those words came out, Qi Bo smiled again. He chuckled lightly and snorted, “This stinky boy who knows nothing also came to look for me.” He walked out of the room and left a sentence behind, “What a waste of time.”

Xie Hongyi was stunned by the situation. By the time he came back to his sense, Qi Bo had already left.

He chased him towards the door, but no one was there. The youth clenched his fist and slammed it heavily on the door. He never thought that things would go this way – he was just like a clown, sending himself to someone’s door to be humiliated. It clearly shouldn’t have been like this!
