Chapter 265 True Intelligence

The intelligence variant that arrived wasn't the same that had left the castle earlier. The one who had gone to spy on the enemy and gather intelligence was back with news, and his presence was evident in his countenance. His face was creased in a frown, and he wore an air of urgency that signaled that what he had to say was not good news.

I was waiting to hear what he had to say. As soon as he approached me, I noticed the beads of sweat glistening on his forehead. "Why do you look afraid? What is it that worries you?" I asked, hoping that his response wouldn't be as grave as his expression.

"My Lord," the minion replied, his voice quivering slightly, "the enemy has received reinforcements from their country. They have called for an army of 2,000 fresh soldiers, who are similar in size and skill to the previous soldiers. Since their soldiers died during our previous skirmishes, they have called for new warriors. This could be a problem, as we are outnumbered. They now have an army of around 8,000 soldiers," the minion expressed with concern.

As the weight of his words settled upon me, I felt a chill run down my spine. It seemed that our enemies were not just content with their earlier defeats; they had gone out of their way to regroup and come back with an even more massive force. However, I refused to give in to despair. My mind raced with thoughts, calculating the possibilities and seeking out the best course of action.

I listened calmly, as I had a plan that I knew would be successful. As the minion finished speaking, I put on a brave face, determined not to show my unease. I could tell that my composure surprised the minion, who had expected me to react differently.

So, I smiled and dismissed the minion, who wanted to say more. I gestured for him to leave as I headed inside for dinner and sleep, knowing that tomorrow we would need to wake up early. As I sat down to eat, my thoughts remained on the problem at hand, and I knew that I had a long night ahead of me. I ate quickly, then retired to my chambers to work on my plan. The night was long and sleepless, but as the first light of dawn broke, I knew that I had a plan that would bring us victory.

I slept soundly that night, my mind at ease knowing that my plan would work. Despite the addition of new soldiers, I remained confident that the battle would be in our favor. My army was well-trained and disciplined, and the strategy I had devised was cunning and precise. As I drifted off to sleep, I could already envision the battle raging on, with our enemies unable to counter our attacks.

I woke up before the sun had risen, eager to ensure that everything would go as planned. The cool morning air nipped at my face as I made my way to the training grounds, my thoughts consumed with the task at hand. I was dressed in simple garb, having shed my armor for the time being, as we were not yet at war.

However, I knew that this peace would not last for long. Our enemies were ruthless, and they would stop at nothing to destroy us. This would be our final battle, and I was determined to emerge victorious. My mind buzzed with excitement as I considered the methods of war I had chosen. They were cunning and destructive, designed to confound our enemies at every turn.

I gazed out at the two walls that surrounded my castle, feeling a surge of pride at the strength and resilience of our defenses. The first wall was incredibly high, and the magic minions that were a part of our army would be of little use up there. Instead, they would be stationed on the inner wall, providing their own protection as they fought.

The catapults, which would play a key role in our battle plan, would be placed in front of the second wall. From there, they could launch bags at our enemies with deadly accuracy. I deployed my 500 archers, each of whom was armed with a crossbow. They would be stationed on both walls, raining arrows down upon our enemies as they approached.

As the sun began to rise, I sent 70 of my strongest and most loyal minions to Howard City, where they would deliver the weapons that we needed to carry out our plan. I knew that they would be successful, as they were some of the best fighters in my army.

With that task completed, I turned my attention back to the training grounds. Our army was almost ready, and I was eager to put their strength to the test. I sent archers to the first wall, with only 300 minions taking up strategic positions there. The remaining minions went to the second wall, where they would work in teams of 100 with an intelligence variant minion leading the charge.

As I oversaw the training, I marveled at the discipline and precision of my army. They moved with purpose and grace, each action calculated and deliberate. I knew that when the time came, they would be more than ready to face our enemies.

With the training complete, I opened the advance control menu to check our total strength. My heart swelled with pride as I saw the sheer number of soldiers that were ready to fight for our cause. This would be a difficult battle, but I was confident that we could emerge victorious.

As I looked out at the walls that surrounded my castle, I knew that they were more than just structures of stone and mortar. They represented the resilience and strength of my people, and I was determined to defend them at all costs. The final battle was coming, but we were ready.-
