Chapter 95 The Cruel Vs The Forgiving

Milliseconds before the blade of Joel's [Reaper's Sabre] was about to make contact with Robbie's neck, I heard the chant once again.

"Let's go, Nija."

The dark blade of Joel's [Reaper's Sabre] sliced into nothing but thin air. Robbie had teleported away, using the ability of Nija. He appeared behind Joel, instantly summoning his vines from his arms.

"Rein Helleborus."

With no time to recover, Joel was caught in the unyielding grip of Robbie's thick vines. Joel was completely immobilised, he struggled all he could, but once he had been grabbed by the vines, there was basically no escaping it.

"I was so close!" Joel commented.

"Ah, that's what you're hung up on?" Robbie answered.

Joel looked over at the main settlement area. To his dismay, he noticed that each one of the villagers were still being held by Robbie's vines. It seemed that he had been using part of his energy to keep all of the people in the village immobilised during the entire fight.

"You weren't even at your full strength..."

I decided to walk over.

"By the way, you're lucky I sent one of my Minions over," I said to Robbie.

"What do you mean?" he asked.

"They were going to all freeze to death and your efforts would have been in vain."

"Crap, I completely forgot that it was cold..."

I had sent one of my Residential Heater Scout Minions to keep them all from dying. I didn't exactly care about their lives per se, it was more that I wanted to see what Robbie was going to do with them. It would've been a little awkward if he was holding onto all of them and they all froze to death...

"Thanks! I didn't want them to die."

"You're welcome, I guess."

"So what now..." asked Joel.

"Well, we're probably going to loot you guys and then leave."

Joel was clearly unhappy but there was nothing he could do about it.

"Rosa Grevich."

At first, it appeared as if nothing happened. However, Joel was quick to realise what had been done to him.

"You took... everything...?"

He was completely ignored.

Robbie walked over to me.

"I think I should get a little bit more than half, is that okay?" he asked me.

"That's fair enough."

I literally did basically nothing the entire fight aside from keeping the villagers from all freezing to death. All of sudden, a huge number of resources were transferred into my inventory.

[x8394] wood

[x14509] stone

[x349] meat

[x409] apple

[x56] iron

"I want to keep some of the special items..." Robbie said.

"Yeah, that's fine with me."

For doing practically nothing, I was definitely compensated quite lavishly. After looking around a little bit, it seemed that Robbie was basically finished. He released his grip on all of the villagers, however, he was still holding onto Joel.

"What do you want from me..." he sighed as he still couldn't move his body.

Robbie thought about it for a little.

"I mean, I don't really have anything I want you to do for me, I guess you can just go back."

It seemed that Robbie was just going to release him.

"Are you kidding me..."

"Nope."

Joel was completely disarmed since his inventory had been sucked dry. Without any weapons, there wasn't anything he could do against Robbie anyways. A few moments later, the vines slowly uncoiled and Joel was free once again. He was completely dejected, after having his pride crushed to pieces by Robbie.

Humiliated, he began making his way back toward his village.

"Let's go," announced Robbie.

"Ah, we're leaving now?"

The two of us made our way back into the woods, walking back the way we came. We trekked through the forest, making out way through the dense shrubbery.

Eventually, I made it back to my settlement.

"Um, well thanks for today?" I wasn't exactly sure what to say.

"Ah, it was fun, let's do it again another time!"

"I guess so."

With that, Robbie left, disappearing into the forest.

Today was a weird day...

The travelling and fighting had taken quite a while, and by the time I got back to camp, the sun had basically completely set. I made my way inside of the hut and started cooking dinner since it was around that time.

A few minutes later, Chloe opened the door to the hut.

"Hey, William~"

"Welcome back."

"What's for dinner?" she asked.

"The same as always."

"Ah."

My Minions were also starting to return at this time so I decided to wait outside.

My Minion Manager made its way over to me.

[I've got the end-of-day report]

It was a large number of resources, and the amount I was gathering at the end of each day was gradually increasing. I decided to take this time to sort out my inventory and make some more Minions. As I organised everything, preparing for the night, Chloe grabbed something out of her inventory.

"Hey, look at what I crafted~"

I looked over and saw a large, brightly coloured bow.

"It's a [Butterfly Bow], isn't it nice?"

I had seen the recipe for it a few days ago. It was one of the bows that required a large number of ores to craft, which was what Chloe specialised in collecting. Its main feature was the fact that it could effectively shoot several arrows at the same time and the arrows would have a throttling effect, homing towards the nearest target.

It was honestly a pretty good weapon, it'd be quite useful against small hordes or zombies or groups of stronger zombies.

After looking at her new weapon, I made my way outside and checked out everything to make sure there weren't any problems. From what I could see, there seemed to be nothing to worry about. I had crafted some more Minions which would act as extra support even though I was already pretty safe.

I crafted 2 more Warrior Minions today which I planned on specialising tomorrow. Aside from that, I decided to have dinner and get to sleep early. Killer Winter was ending soon and also the Rank Rewards would be distributed soon as well. I needed to make sure I didn't lose my top 10 positions if I wanted to get the armband.

Whatever the case, I finished my food and went to bed.
