CH 23.2

Name:My Groom Ran Away Author:
“Boss, the private detective agency that we hired previously has received a new commission to also look into Lin Zhe and the madam’s matters. Lin Zhe had also lost his job at the club.”

“You don’t need to mention it. It was probably done by Qin Jue.”

Qian Fan snorted and raised a brow. He really could not get used to Qin Jue trying to interfere with other people’s relationships.

“Brother Lin, you don’t have to worry. I will help you keep an eye on him. Even though Qin Jue’s injuries have improved, he has not yet gotten discharged from the hospital. But you still need to be careful, you can’t let him have a chance.”

Cheng Yuelin raised his chin in acknowledgement and glanced at him before he casually responded with a grunt.

Qin Jue’s personality was hesitant and indecisive. Considering Ruan Zhiyin’s attitude the past few times, Cheng Yuelin did not believe that Qin Jue would be able to win her back. But that did not mean he was not annoyed by Qin Jue’s actions.

When Qian Fan saw that he was so calm, he thought that Cheng Yuelin’s and Ruan Zhiyin’s relationship must be going well. He felt relieved and after he finished eating, he passed a cigarette to Cheng Yuelin and Bai Bo.

But he was rejected by the man’s hand.

“No smoking. Quit.”

Qian Fan froze and blurted out. “Brother Lin, when did you quit?”

Bai Bo also looked surprised. As an assistant, how could he not know his boss had quit smoking?

Cheng Yuelin slowly put down his chopsticks and smiled at Qian Fan. “Yesterday, okay?”

Then he shook his head helplessly and casually said, “After getting married, there are so many restrictions. What can I do?”

Qian Fan: “…”

Fine, you are really amazing.

As she no longer needed to go to Lin Heng to sign the contract in the afternoon, Ruan Zhiyin sat in Kang Yu’s car and decided to go to the worksite in Bei Cheng to take a look.

The two people followed the path the engineers had designed and by the time they got back, it was time to get off work.

Kang Yu’s red Volkswagen steadily came to a stop in the Ruan Company’s parking lot. The two people opened the door and got off.

Just as they reached the elevator to the parking lot, a familiar person came out and blocked their way.

Wang Xiwei had been standing in the stifling heat of the parking lot for over an hour. Her fair face was covered in a thin layer of sweat, her back was completely soaked, and her bangs were sticking to her forehead.

The receptionist would not allow her to go in to find Ruan Zhiyin. She had originally planned to wait for Ruan Zhiyin to get off work, but she unexpectedly saw Ruan Zhiyin got out of Volkswagen and had hurried on over.

In a moment, she rushed to block her way.

“Ruan Zhiyin, I want to talk to you.”

If she had any other options, she definitely would not choose to beg Ruan Zhiyin for help.

But the Wang family had completely hit a dead end. Her father could not see Cheng Yuelin and stupidly told her to come find Ruan Zhiyin.

Ruan Zhiyin looked at her and this was the first time she saw a Wang Xiwei in such a mess. After her surprise faded, her expression became indifferent.

“Wang Xiwei, if you came to discuss the Wang family’s matters, it is better for you to just leave. When your father got involved with Cheng Yuelin’s father’s case, you should have expected that this day would come.”

When Cheng Yuelin dropped her off at work this morning, Cheng Yuelin had given her a heads up. There might be a lot of people coming to look for her, and if they will not back down, she could ask Bai Bo to handle it.

In fact, she had long known that Cheng Yuelin had been secretly dealing with the Wang family. Wang Xiwei’s father was only getting anxious now and was starting to look for help. It was already too late.

The Wang family had benefited from Father Cheng’s case and even though Ruan Zhiyin did not know the details, but Wang Xiwei’s father had definitely had a hand in it. How could she agree to help them?

Hearing her words, Wang Xiwei thought that Ruan Zhiyin was holding a grudge about things in the past. She decided to give an apology and her tone was very sincere.

“Are you mad that I was always helping Lin Jingfei? I am sorry. I was also tricked by her. Other than saying a few words to flatter her, I have never done anything against you.”

She and Lin Jingfei’s relationship could not be said to be very good. The reason why she had hung around and sucked up to Lin Jingfei was due to Qin Jue’s attitude to her in the past.

But it had not been long since Qin Jue had released that merciless statement to clear up his and Lin Jingfei’s relationship.

Wang Xiwei then finally understood, Lin Jingfei had used her as a scapegoat to offend Ruan Zhiyin while she herself would get off scot-free.

They were originally just surface level sisters and with Lin Jingfei’s attitude towards her, Wang Xiwei cleanly ripped off their masks and ended their friendship.

Wang Xiwei knew that her father had an illegitimate son and had never treated her that well. However, he was scared that Cheng Yuelin would one day get back at the Wang family, hence he had requested her to get into Cheng Yuelin’s good graces.

But she had also wanted to get a leg up and had not gone against her father’s wishes. So, she would always find opportunities to be in front of him, but their conversations would not add up to more than two lines.

The Wang family had given her more than twenty years of a privileged and luxurious life. Now that her father’s head was on the chopping block, she could not sit back and watch the Wang family crumble.

“You and Cheng Yuelin… are husband and wife. My father just wants to see Cheng Yuelin once. If you could help me to say a few words, even if it doesn’t work, that is fine. As for the conditions, my father said, he has information in his hands that would make Lin Cheng lose everything.”

Wang Xiwei’s father and Lin Cheng had had some friendly cooperation before. Now that the fires were burning, he would not have the time to deceive her.

Ruan Zhiyin’s eyes moved, but after a moment she still shook her head in refusal. “I cannot help you. This has nothing to do with Lin Jingfei, and it does not mean I have a grudge against you.”

Wang Xiwei had liked to flatter Lin Jingfei and would always back her up. But she had honestly never done anything, Ruan Zhiyin was too lazy to hold a grudge against her.

“Then you…”

Seeing her cold expression, Wang Xiwei’s words stopped in her throat. Her impression of Ruan Zhiyin was that her temper had always been good. She had rarely got into arguments with people. This was why she had agreed to her father’s request to come and try.

But seeing Ruan Zhiyin’s eyes, she understood that this was not the case at all.

“Wang Xiwei, Cheng Yuelin is my husband. Why do I need to help you for just this little bit of benefit? There is no reason for me to ask him to forgive someone who interfered with his father’s case.”

Even if she did not get Father Wang’s so-called “evidence”, she had other ways to deal with Lin Cheng. It would just take a little bit of time.

Even though she and Cheng Yuelin were not legally married, the two people were at least still considered partners. Ruan Zhiyin definitely would not help the Wang family with this.

Just as she finished speaking, a familiar male voice rang from behind. It carried a bit of teasing.

“Yinyin, Words like ‘my husband’, are better used at home.”
