Chapter 266 Slightly Specific Quest

The match was set to kick off by 4:00 PM which meant that the players had a lot of time to get themselves ready for the match given that the venue for the match was the Wondanimo stadium, their first home match of the season.

Right now, there was just an hour and thirty minutes left before the match kicked off and Dave had to get to the stadium before that thirty minutes got exhausted for the pre-match warm-up.

He was in his room now, getting his things ready, well, Emma was the one helping him pack his bag while he zipped up his jacket.

"There you go," Emma said after putting in the last items that were supposed to go into the bag, the shin guards.

"Thank you, babe." He said as he walked closer to her to pick up the bag.

After picking up the bag, he leaned closer to kiss her before he turned to leave.

"I guess I'll see you there then." He said before taking a step toward the exit.

"No, wait, I'm coming with you."

She stepped down from the bed and quickly made her way to the wardrobe where she grabbed her white jacket which had brown fur as its collar before she turned to the shoe rack and picked up a pair of black canvas to go with her black trousers.

"You're coming with me?" Dave didn't exactly get what she meant until she started putting on the shoes.

"Yeah, you miss hints way too often, Dave."

She was already getting ready when he returned to the house to pick his things up so he should have realized that she wanted to leave with him.

It didn't take long for her to finish tying her shoelaces and as soon as she was done, she quickly got up from the bed.

"Let's go." She said before walking past him and out of the room.

"Okay," Dave mumbled before he quickly followed her out of the room.

The drive from their house to Wondanimo stadium didn't take as long as it used to as Dave had to exceed his normal driving speed to get there a little bit faster.

After getting to the stadium through the players' and staff entrance side, he drove his car to one of the free parking spots and parked his car there.

Most of his teammates were already as he could count about seventeen cars there after parking his car.

"It's a good thing you're a sports journalist, if not, you would have to go around and I wouldn't bother to drive you there." The goalkeeper said before opening the door.

"So you would allow your pregnant wife to trek from here to over there?" Emma said before she opened the door on her side and slowly brought her right leg down.

"You don't have to put it that way." He said before stepping out of the car.

"Why wouldn't I put it that way, isn't it the way it is?" She asked after she stepped down from the car and closed the door.

"Yeah, I guess." He said. "If you put it that way, no, but if you weren't carrying my child I'll gladly do it."

"Really?"

"Yeah." The goalkeeper said before he began to head toward the entrance to the building.

"Hey, wait up," Emma said before she quickly started walking toward him to catch up with him.

On getting to the locker room, the goalkeeper was glad to find out that his teammates had not gone out to the pitch to start the pre-match warm-up yet, so he was able to head out to the pitch together with them.

The goalkeeper did a bit of long-range shot-stopping with his teammates before he decided to test out someone on his own.

Alexander was standing in between the sticks now as Dave was standing over the ball about twenty-five yards away from the goalpost.

"Okay, here I go." The goalkeeper said as he slowly took three steps away from the ball.

Once he stopped moving, he quickly closed up on the ball and sent it flying toward the top right-hand corner of the goalpost.

Alexander dived toward the ball and managed to get the tip of his left glove to it, but unfortunately for him, that wasn't enough to stop the ball as it ended up smashing past his hand before flying into the goalpost and hitting the back of the net.

"Good job, but if you had dived with both hands you would have been able to keep that out," Dave said as he moved closer to Alexander.

"I know, I was a bit off balance but I'll get it time I know it," Alexander said before throwing the ball back to him.

The Black Roz FC players arrived by 3:20 PM and after joining Unique FC players to warm up on the pitch for a little while, they were all told to head down the tunnel and go get ready for the match.

For this match, Unique FC players were going to be putting on their normal home jersey, the popular orange jersey with black polka dots while Dave as the goalkeeper was going to be putting on the lemon green jersey with no flashy design.

After putting on all the gear required for the match, the players made their way to the waiting point in the tunnel where they met the mascots and Black Roz FC players.

Black Roz FC players were putting on their away jersey which was white shirts with two diagonal lines running down them but the short was just plain black, and their goalkeeper was putting on a sky-blue kit.

After staying there for a few minutes, the players were finally given the signal to start making their way into the pitch, and that they were glad to do.

As they made their way onto the pitch, the crowd burst into cheers and applause, most of the people in the stands were Unique FC fans, that was one of the advantages of being the home side in the match but it was no deciding factor.

"Welcome to our viewers from all around the world, it's your regular commentator, Jim Waterson once again, and joining me in the studio once again is my regular co-commentator, Mr. Steve Jefferson." Jim expressed as the players matched onto the pitch.

"Hello, and welcome everyone, it's really nice to be here to witness and talk about another match as it goes on," Steve said.

The players went around to shake each other's hands and now it was time for the coin toss to decide who was starting the match.

"Unique FC have started their league campaign quite well after defeating Frono FC one goal to nothing on Monday, the same can be said about Black Roz FC who defeated Tereville United four goals to nothing," Jim said. "Both teams have the chance to move to any of the top two spots on the table but one of them will have to go down for that to happen, so who's it going to be?"

Adolf won the coin toss and as always, he chose the goalpost on the left, that was done and now the match was about to kick off.

"If this match ends in a draw, both teams may end up keeping their current spots or possibly get pushed down by Spree United who will be facing Tereville City later tonight." Steve expressed.

Dave was standing in between the sticks waiting for the match to kick off while also waiting for his match quest to pop up soon.

'A single quest, but it's not an easy one.' He said subconsciously as he skimmed through the details of the quest.

<I think you should call this one the slightly specific quest>

'So, there's going to be a very specific quest?'

<Yeah>

'That's going to be a pain.'

<No kidding about that>
