Chapter 247 House Interview (02)

The idea behind interviewing Dave now was because he was one of the players who was being talked about mostly now and doing this now would bring them(Unique City Publishing Company) a lot of viewership from Bilbeth and also from around the world.

"As I said earlier, Dave Richards is here with us, no, we're in his home," Emma said.

"It's your home too," Dave said.

He managed to get a smile out of her with those words but she knew exactly what to say.

"Yeah, but right now, I'm here as a journalist from Unique City Publishing Company, not your wife so technically it's just your home, not ours." She expressed. "Now, back to what I was saying, I am here to ask Dave here a couple of questions and see the interesting responses he's going to give us. Are you ready Dave?"

"Yeah." The goalkeeper responded with a nod.

"Okay, first question. You were on a pre-season tour with your teammates for two weeks and only returned on Monday, how was the tour?"

"Well, it was a nice experience having to spend two weeks in another control with matches to be played, Barcelona's a really nice city, I really loved it there and the matches were also great, I was surprised to see a lot of fans there to cheer us up during those games even though they were just friendly games but I was really glad to have them. There's a lot to talk about but overall it was a very nice tour, I want to play in Spain one day so it was an awesome tour to give me that experience although we only got to face three teams from Spain." The goalkeeper expressed.

"Okay, I think Barcelona is a great city too, now the next question. What were your best moments or parts of the tour?"

"I can't really say, I have a lot of those moments."

"Okay, why don't you just tell us about one of those moments?"

"Okay, there was this time that I felt really bored so I decided to take a walk and then I found this boy complaining about something. He seemed really sad, I later found out that he was in the final of a football-tennis competition and his friend who was his teammate couldn't make it.

"I decided to help him out and we ended up winning the final very convincingly."

If it was another person interviewing him, the goalkeeper wouldn't be speaking so freely as he was doing, he was speaking like he was just having a normal conversation with his wife, perhaps Miss. Nelly had a point of assigning the interview to her.

"Yeah, I heard about that and now because of you, they are going to prohibit professional footballers from taking part in the tournament," Emma said.

"Yeah, I'm just glad it wasn't part of the rules then, Diego would have been devastated after getting disqualified like that." He said.

"Well, it's a good thing it wasn't a rule then, now."

"Yeah."

"Now, moving on to the last question regarding the pre-season tour. Which match will you call your favorite in all the matches?"

"Favorite match." He said before placing his hand on his chin. "That's a tough decision to make but I'll have to say the first match."

"Against Manchester United?"

"Yeah." He replied with a nod.

"Why is it your favorite? You scored a goal in the match against Eibar, the first goal in your career, that should be something special to you." She said,

"Yeah, you're right, that goal is very special to me but I picked the match against Manchester United for a reason." The goalkeeper said.

"And what reason is that?"

"Eibar didn't really do anything to upset, that's why they were the only ones we were able to get four goals against without conceding any, but Manchester United were all over the place against us, those guys could have easily scored eight goals against us but we held our ground and even managed to score before them.

"They were the most dangerous attacking team we faced after Barcelona but somehow we got really close to beating them, we could have defeated them."

"I see, it's because you guys managed to hold down a team like Manchester United, that's why it's your best match," Emma said.

"Exactly." He responded with a nod.

"Okay, that was the last question regarding the pre-season tour, now moving on from that. You guys just defeated Supreme United, the current champions of Spain to win the Bilbeth Charity cup and you guys didn't just defeat them, you guys outplayed them." She expressed. "A lot of people, especially Unique FC fans, are saying that you guys have what it takes to fight for the title and possibly win it this season, what do you have to say about that?"

"I wouldn't say they're wrong because according to the improvement our coach is bringing to the team and with the new players in the squad, I believe we can fight for the league, but, I think my teammates will agree with me here when I say that the league isn't our main focus this upcoming season." The goalkeeper expressed.

"Really? Then what is your focus this upcoming season?" She asked.

"We all fought so hard even when it seemed impossible to qualify for the conference League qualifiers and now that we're there this season, I think that is our main focus this upcoming season, winning the conference League."

"I see, that is a good main focus but do you guys think you have what it takes to come out on top in that competition?"

"It's been a long time since we were last in a European competition and now we can be in one again and that is if we make it past the qualifiers. This is also going to be the first time for some of us to play in one of the big stages of Europe, the pressure's going to be there but I believe that we will be able to get through it, I know we'll go a long way in this competition and we may even go ahead to reach the finals."

"It's nice to see that you have a lot of confidence in yourself and your teammates," Emma said with a smile on her face.

'He's changed a lot from the time I met him.' She thought.

"We are about to go on a short break but before that, you need to answer one more question, Dave."

"Okay." He replied with a nod.

"Do you think you have what it takes to get your hands on Bilbeth Premier League's golden glove this season?" She asked.

"That's going to be a tough competition given the fact that we have a lot of good goalkeepers here in Bilbeth but why not? If they're fighting for it, I'm going to fight for it, and it would be really awesome to win it." He expressed.

<You're just being modest>

"Alright, we're going to go on a short break now, don't go anywhere, we'll be back soon." She turned to the camera to say.

After saying that, Matthew quickly paused the video so that ads could be shown at this point.

"Great answers," Emma said before getting up from the couch, and before the goalkeeper could say anything in response, she quickly made her way to the staircase and disappeared upwards.

'I knew she was starting to get uncomfortable.'
