Chapter 244 Minor Trophy

Supreme United tried their best but even they knew that it was futile at this point in the game and once the fifth minute of added time was completed, the referee blew his whistle thrice to bring the match to an end.

"There's the whistle, it's all over!" Jim exclaimed as most of Unique FC's players including Dave raised their hands in victory as the fans screamed and threw chants all over the place. "They have finally broken Supreme United's winning streak against them and prevented them from setting a new record against them but they still have the record against them alongside Lave City."

"The first time Unique FC is coming out on top in the Audiz derby in the last four years and they came out on top with a convincing two-nil win," Steve said.

"We did it," Dave said with a bright smile on his face as he made his way to Mateo who was heading toward the bench area to sit down maybe.

"For the second time in history, Unique FC are the winners of the Bilbeth Charity cup, this is quite a coincidence because the first time they won it in nineteen ninety-five, they beat Supreme United two goals to nothing, and today on October twenty-third two thousand and twenty-five, history has repeated itself." Jim expressed.

"Do you know what else happened that season, Jim? Unique FC went on to beat Supreme United in the Bilbeth super cup final and ended the season as League runner-ups just one point behind Supreme United." Steve articulated.

"Yeah, that was a good season for them, but it wasn't their best," Jim said.

It was time to hand over the trophies before giving the winners their trophy but before that, the players from both teams would have to be given their medals, silver medals for Supreme United players, and gold medals for Unique FC players as they were the champions.

The medal wasn't the only thing that Dave was going to be getting as he had been announced as the man of the match at the end of the match.

There was nothing really special about how everything was done, it was just the organizer of the yearly charity cup and the person who would be giving the players their medals.

The first team to come up was Supreme United, they would shake hands with the man who created this tournament for the sake of charity before they would be giving their medals, it didn't take long before they were done and now it was Unique FC's turn.

Dave was the seventh player to come after Mateo and just as the medal was put over him, he felt some kind of sensation run through his body.

After walking a little distance toward the area where his teammates were standing while waiting for Adolf to bring the trophy, he paused before grabbing the gold part of the medal.

He rubbed his hand on it for a moment before bringing down his gaze to look at it.

<You know this was just a friendly competition with a trophy attached, this trophy isn't recognized by UEFA or FIFA and will be classified as a minor trophy>

'I know that, but still, it's quite wonderful to win something with this team.' He said subconsciously before he began to make his way to his teammates.

Adolf was handed the trophy after collecting his medal and now he was making his way to his teammates holding the trophy.

There was nothing really special about the trophy, it had a silver coating with a rectangular mold on the bottom but there was hands on it, it looked like a smaller version of the Bilbeth Super Cup.

The captain slowly brought the trophy up and down as he made his way to his teammates and once he got to the spot made for him, he raised the trophy high as his teammates let out screams but they weren't the only ones as the fans joined in on the shouting and jumping from the stands.

"It's their first trophy in six years so I think it's worth the hype," Jim said. "I think this marks the beginning of a new era in Unique FC."

After celebrating for a little while longer with the trophy, some of the players began to make their way down the tunnel.

Dave was part of those who had left the celebration band to head down the tunnel but he wasn't allowed to do that as Emma quickly rushed to him as soon as she spotted him and wrapped her arms around him, using his body to elevate herself a bit.

"Hey, I didn't know you were here." The goalkeeper managed to say with her body pressed against his face.

"Of course, I'm here, I'm a sports reporter, have you forgotten?"

"No, it's just that I wasn't expecting to see you here, are you the only sports reporter in that workplace of yours?" The goalkeeper asked.

"But I am the most reliable according to Miss. Nelly." She said before turning her gaze to Matthew who had gotten close to them now.

"Miss. Nelly never said anything like that," Matthew said.

"Why don't you go ask her and see?"

Matthew let out a sigh before turning his gaze to Dave.

"Congratulations on your trophy, Dave." He said.

"Matthew, right?"

"Yeah," Matthew responded with a nod.

"Thank you for congratulating me." The goalkeeper said before turning his gaze back to his wife. "Are you feeling okay? You know you shouldn't be stressing yourself."

"I'm not stressing myself, I feel...."

Before she could finish that sentence, she felt something strongly rising to her throat and quickly covered her mouth before holding her breath to take it back in.

"I feel fine." She said afterward.

He stared at her for a while before he slowly took off his medal.

"Just hold onto this for me and take it home if you must." He said before putting the medal on her. "I have to go now, see you later."

She turned around to watch him until he disappeared down the tunnel.

"Why did he ask you if you were feeling okay?" Matthew asked.

"Let's go." She said before she began to make her way toward the tunnel area.

Most of his teammates were already in the locker room and boy was the celebration going on, a lot of pictures were taken, a lot of running around was done, and a lot of singing, chanting, and dancing.

<This is what happens when you don't win a trophy for six years and end up winning the Charity cup>

'Give me a break, Catherine, I only became a first-team player last year so whatever you're saying doesn't really apply to me.' Dave replied to her as he jumped up and down with his teammates.

After jumping up and down and running around the room for a while, the goalkeeper decided to call it quits as he slowly made his way to one of the seats and sat down there.

'Show me the post-match rewards now.'

[ Victory rewards ]

'I guess I played a huge impact in keeping this clean sheet.'

<Yeah>

[ Congratulations on winning your first minor trophy ]

[ The system will now grant you the rewards required ]

'I get rewarded by the system for winning trophies?' He said subconsciously with a marveled look on his face.
