Chapter 240 Biased Decision

The match was about to kick off as the players were now in the locker rooms getting ready to start heading to the pitch.

Unique FC were going to use their black jersey with black polka dots while Supreme United were going to use their plain red home jersey.

The match was set to kick off by 2:30 PM so by 2:10, the players from both teams had already met up in the hallway close to the exit from the tunnel.

They waited there for a while before they were given the okay sign to start making their way to the pitch and just as they stepped out of the tunnel, the whole area got covered by applause from the fans.

The stadium was completely filled up for two reasons, one because this was Supreme United's home turf so their fans didn't have any trouble getting to the Supreme stadium and the second reason was that Unique City wasn't that far from Supreme City so Unique FC fans didn't have much trouble getting to the stadium.

"Welcome to our viewers from all around the world, it's your regular commentator Jim Waterson and joining me in the studio today is your regular co-commentator, Mr. Stege Jefferson," Jim said as the players made their way to the pitch.

"Hello everyone, it's really nice to be back here again to talk about the match as it goes on live," Steve said.

"Yeah, and speaking about the match, we have an interesting match-up today, it's the first Audiz derby of the season, it's a friendly match between these two rivals but there's a trophy on the line and I'm pretty sure none of them is going to pull their punches." Jim articulated.

"It's the Bilbeth charity cup, it's not a major trophy but a trophy is a trophy, and what every club in this world wants is more trophies," Steve said.

The players lined up, shook hands as they went around and after that, it was time for the coin toss which the captains from both teams had to take care of, Adolf Alexis from Unique FC and Roland Hills from Supreme United.

"Unique FC has quite the tough record against Supreme United, their last ten encounters had ended in ten significant losses and one draw," Steve said. "Will they be able to do something this time around or will they break their record for the most wins against a single club, the record was first created against Lave City with nine straight wins against them and last season they tied that record against Unique FC, beating them today will mean that they have broken the record and the team with the team with the most straight losses against a single opponent in Bilbeth will be Unique FC only."

"I don't think Unique FC will want that to happen, the odds are in the favor of Supreme United but they are not strongly in their favor, Unique FC has a refined team now, I think they can keep this interesting and even go ahead to shock us." Jim expressed.

Unique FC won the coin toss so Adolf chose the goalpost on the left before making his way to his teammates, winning the coin toss also meant that they would be the ones to start the game which was a good thing for them, they could try something with their first spell of possession.

After getting their teammates on their sides and in their positions, it was time to start the match.

Norman was using his main starting eleven which consisted of Dave in the goalpost, Norman Kole in the right back position, Adolf and Aima as center backs, Roland as the left back, Martinez in the defensive midfield position, and the attacking midfield being led by Ferran and Minino.

The attack was being led by Fred in the striking position, Mateo on the left wing, and Carlos on the right wing.

Supreme United mostly had their starting eleven players on the pitch, the others that weren't there were not available yet, they were still enjoying the break probably.

Mateo was standing over the ball waiting for the referee's whistle and as soon as he heard it, he sent the ball rolling to Minino who quickly sent it back to Martinez.

"There's the whistle and we are on the way," Jim said.

Unique FC were taking things slowly, they wanted to start their build-up slowly from the back because they knew that rushing things would result in them losing the ball, and losing the ball wasn't something they wanted to do yet.

Supreme United players were chasing the ball quite aggressively but Unique FC players were flawless in keeping the ball away from them with neat passes.

Martinez received the ball from Adolf and quickly got past the player in front of him with a roulette, he moved the ball forward a little before quickly sending it to Minino with a through pass.

Martinez's pass was a bit too much and Minino had almost lost the ball to a Supreme United player but he slid toward the ball just before it could get to the player and sent it rolling toward Ferran instead.

"That was a close one, they had almost lost the ball there," Jim said.

"It's only been four minutes since the match kicked off and Unique FC are smoothly dominating the match," Steve said.

Ferran seemed to have forgotten what to do after receiving the ball and that resulted in him getting dispossessed with a sliding tackle but fortunately for them, Minino raced toward the area right on time and sent the ball rolling to Mateo before the player could pass it to his teammate while he was still on the floor with Ferran.

"That's the second time Minino is preventing their opponent from getting the ball after a mistake from his teammate, he's starting out quite hyper in this match," Steve commented.

Mateo got hold of the ball and feinted his body left to confuse the defender before quickly cutting into the box from the right.

"Mateo doing what he does best, can he put it away?!"

The winger had the space to shoot but he also had a good space to give the ball to Carlos who was racing toward the goalpost now.

He wanted Carlos to finish before the goalkeeper who still had his eyes on him could get to that side so he sent the ball rolling to him with enough speed that it would only require a little touch from him to put it away.

"He's decided to cross it low," Steve said.

Carlos had almost gotten his foot on the ball when he was brought down from behind by a Supreme United player and that resulted in the ball rolling out for a goal kick without making contact with anyone.

"The ball had gone past the line with no contact, looks like there was a collision in the box though but there's no whistle," Jim said.

This was just a friendly match but Carlos was quite pissed off that the referee didn't do anything about that, the player had clearly brought him down to prevent him from scoring but the referee acted like he didn't see it.

He complained to the referee but it didn't look like the referee was going to listen to him so he kept on complaining until Mateo got to him.

"Hey, it's okay," Mateo said before pulling him away from the referee.

"Why do they always have to make biased decisions like that? I was pushed in there, that was supposed to be a penalty." Carlos said. He was fuming.

"Calm down, we don't need to get a yellow card now, there's still a lot of minutes left, trust me we're going to win this match just calm down."

"I don't even know the purpose of VAR if they can't review decisions like this," Carlos said before he began to walk away from his teammate.

"Carlos had almost risked getting the first booking of the night there but I don't blame him, he was clearly pushed down in the box, the referee should have made that call," Jim said.

"Yeah, Unique FC should be leading by now."

'I didn't expect the match to start with biased decisions against us.' Dave said subconsciously.

With the ball out of play, it was now time for Supreme United to get possession of the ball for the first time since the match kicked off.

The goalkeeper placed the ball on the edge of the box inside the eighteen-yard box before quickly launching it into play.

The right midfielder quickly got hold of the ball and sent it flying toward Roland from the top.

"Supreme United are attacking with long flying balls."

The ball seemed to have been over hit so Adolf ended up clearing it with a header but it wasn't exactly cleared as the ball fell right to the feet of Supreme United's central midfielder who quickly sent the ball rolling to Roland.

The striker quickly got past Martinez with a neat three hundred-and-sixty rotation to get enough space to shoot and once he had that space, he sent the ball flying toward the goalpost.

"Roland!"

The ball was sent flying toward the top right-hand side with a powerful shot but that wasn't a problem as Dave was already on it.

He dived toward the ball with both of his hands, many expected him to just punch out a shot that powerful, but he caught the ball with his gloves before crashing to the floor.

That save generated loud gasps from the fans and the Supreme United players who had no idea how well the goalkeeper had improved had shocked expressions on their faces.

"When they said that he had gotten better, I didn't expect it to be at this level," Roland muttered.

There was no chance for a counter-attack but Mateo was free on the left and there was a chance that he could create a counterattack all by himself so Dave quickly got up from the floor and sent the ball flying toward him.
