Chapter 209 A Chance To Level It

The match was already thirty minutes gone and so far, Sheffield United had just not been able to get back into the game.

They've done great to minimize their mistakes and we're doing well to move the ball upfield but once they got to Unique FC's box, they seem to enter a serious state of confusion, their decision-making was poor once they got there and that would result in the Bilbeth Premier League side quickly clearing their line.

They managed to force out a very good save from Dave when the ball was fired toward the right side of the goalpost right from the edge of the box.

Dave dived toward it right on time knowing full well that he would only get so close to it and won't be able to touch it but that wasn't a problem as ball magnet already had him covered.

The goalkeeper was supposed to push the ball out but he ended up catching it with both of his hands.

Unique FC were with the ball now, and they were slowly approaching their opponents with their neat strings of passes.

Unlike Sheffield United, they knew exactly what to do once they got to the box and had even created two good chances but both of them were saved by the goalkeeper.

The first chance was one that caused the jaws of almost everyone in the stadium to drop.

Mateo received a wonderful pass from Harry and quickly drifted away from the midfielder that was about to grab him.

Instead of racing down the wing, he decided to move directly toward the box, he feigned shooting at the first player like that to drop him off.

He continued trailing down the edge while using the same trick to drop all the defenders who thought he was going to shoot.

"Mateo's nicely dropping all the defenders here," Jim commented.

Once he got to the middle where he had enough shooting space, he sent the ball flying toward the right side of the goalpost with just a little elevation but his shot seemed to have gotten nerfed before he released it and that was because of the players from behind who made contact with his leg just before he hit the ball. The shot wasn't that strong and it wasn't that far from the goalkeeper either so it ended up being an easy save for him.

"Oh, that was so close," Jim said.

"Yeah, he should have finished that," Steve said.

Mateo didn't look happy about missing that chance but the look didn't stay on his face for long, he was just going to try again.

'I just wish this rain will stop already.'

The second chance was also a pretty good one, Mateo pulled back in midfield to receive the ball from Adolf after the defender thwarted an attempt to get the ball into his box.

He quickly raced down the middle with the ball and once he spotted Fred making a quick run toward the box with only one player hot on his trail, he quickly sent the ball flying toward him from the top.

Fred managed to keep away from the defender on his trail and got a good header to the ball, he wanted to send the ball over the goalkeeper with that header, but it ended up flying directly toward him so catching it wasn't a problem for him.

"That was a good chance but it's been wasted," Steve commented.

The time displayed on the clock now was thirty-two minutes and finally just as Mateo wanted, the rain was beginning to slow down.

Unique FC were still with the ball and they were slowly building up toward Sheffield United's goalpost.

Henry received the ball and waited for the player heading toward him to get closer so that he could humiliate him in the best way possible.

As soon as the player got closer, he controlled the ball properly to get it away from him, and instead of passing the ball to any of his teammates, he waited for the player to try taking the ball from him and when the player attempted it again, he got past him again and this time with a clean nutmeg that got a nice reaction from the fans.

"Looks like Henry's just toying with him here."

After that, he quickly moved down the right with the ball and passed it to Carlos.

"Carlos."

Carlos moved toward the box with the ball before he sent it to Fred who had a couple of players quickly closing up on him but that wasn't a problem as he quickly linked the ball to Henry who had quickly moved ahead of him.

Henry got a single touch to the ball before he quickly set up Mateo inside the box, placing the ball right where he knew he was going to need it but before the winger could get to the ball, the goalkeeper quickly left his goal line and fumbled the ball causing the winger to jump over him.

"Oh, he had almost gotten to it but the goalkeeper did really well to deny him," Jim said.

This was Sheffield United's chance to create a counter-attack and the goalkeeper knew it, he quickly got up from the floor, threw the ball up, and sent it flying toward their right winger who had been lurking around just around the line dividing the pitch into two parts.

The winger already had Jonas in front of him with Adolf and Pirlo a little ahead of him on their own sides but that wasn't a problem to him.

The winger trapped the ball neatly and just before Jonas could close up on him, he zoomed off.

"Sheffield United are starting a counterattack here," Steve said.

Adolf and Pirlo were a little ahead of him in this race but that was just all he wanted.

The other players were also quickly heading toward the area including Sheffield United's talisman Andy, the winger got closer to the box and pulled in a little before he sent it to Andy who had closed up on the box now with a few Unique FC players behind him and the two center backs right in front of him.

The right winger quickly moved into the box and was about to release the shot when he was brought down from behind by Henry.

It wasn't a tackle, it seemed to be a push which he quickly raised his hands to deny but the referee wasn't convinced and even rushed to the area to show him a yellow card.

"That's a foul right inside the box of Unique FC and Henry just got the first booking of the night," Jim said.

"It's a penalty, a chance for Sheffield United to get back into the game," Steve said.

Unique FC players weren't exactly happy with that situation and would be pestering the referee now if this was an important match.

<Another penalty for you to try and save, Dave>

'I don't like penalties but in situations like this, what can I do?' The goalkeeper replied with a shrug.
