Chapter 170 Married

The kitchen all the way to the living room was void of anybody but it wasn't exactly quiet as the television was on with a news broadcast going on.

There were two reporters in the studio, one being a blonde-haired female and the other being a bald man.

"So, Ace, what update do you have for us today from the world of sports?" She asked.

"Well, this has to be the first one, it doesn't really have anything to do with sports but because a footballer is involved, it has to fall under the category of sports news," Ace said. "What I'm trying to say is that Unique FC's number one Dave Richards is getting married today, he is getting married to sports reporter Emma Smith who is the older sister of his teammate Mateo Smith."

Upstairs in Dave's room, Emma could be seen sitting in front of the large mirror in the room, she was putting on her white wedding gown with Emilia and another woman standing behind her.

"I feel so tense, Emilia, I have never felt so nervous about anything in my entire life." She said to Emilia who was busy working on her hair.

"I can't say I understand how you feel because I haven't been through this before but I can imagine how you're feeling," Emilia said. "This is one of the biggest stages of your life, it's okay to be nervous but you should relax, you're a beautiful young woman, Dave loves and you are getting married happily to the man you love aren't you?"

"Yeah."

"So there's nothing to be really nervous about."

"Yeah, Emma, there's nothing to be nervous about." The other woman said.

_______ _______

The groom wasn't supposed to see the bride before the wedding, that was the reason why Dave wasn't getting dressed at home but that wasn't a problem as finding a place to get dressed wasn't that much of a big deal, Mateo's house was just fifteen minutes down the road.

Inside Mateo's room were three men all putting on black tuxedos and those three men were Dave, Mateo, and Clark.

Dave's tuxedo seemed to differ from their own as it had sparkly gold designs.

"I never thought you would get married before me," Clark said as the goalkeeper adjusted his bow tie.

"Why wouldn't I get married before you? You've been single for almost four months now." Dave said.

Clark was a little pissed by what he had said but he knew he was right.

He was about to say something when his phone began to ring on Mateo's bed where he had.

He quickly stretched his hand toward the phone and picked it up.

"Who's that?" Mateo asked.

"Emilia," Clark replied before picking up the call. "Um..yeah, we're almost there." He said before ending the call.

"What did she want?" Mateo asked.

"To know if we had gotten to the church," Clark replied.

"We should start heading there now," Dave said.

"Yeah."

______ _______

The church was filled up now with friends, family, teammates, and a lot of other people.

Dave was standing in front of the priest with Clark standing behind him and Emma making her way to the area, Emilia was walking beside her with a flower bouquet in her hand.

With the two now on stage, it was time to begin with the ceremonial rites.

The priest said everything that he was required to say and after that, he said the vows which they both said I do too on their turns before he said, "You may now kiss the bride."

After hearing the priest say that, Dave raised his hands toward her and slowly lifted the wedding veil which had a bright smile on it now.

He leaned closer to her and just as their lips touched, the people in the church broke into applause of jubilation.

With the wedding ceremony now done, they proceeded to the party which was taking place in a hotel.

There weren't many people at the party, just friends, family and Dave's teammates, his coach Norman was also there.

The sun was slowly going down as everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves at the party but not everybody could stay till sunset.

Emma's parents were about to leave but before that, Johnson Smith wanted to have a word with the goalkeeper.

"So, you're married to my daughter now." He said as the two made their way to the elevator.

"Yes, sir." The goalkeeper said. "I guess I'm part of the family now."

"Yeah, yeah, don't get too ahead of yourself, just take good care of her, okay."

"You know I will, Mr. Smith."

Johnson smiled at him before turning his gaze to his wife who was talking with Emma at the far end of the room.

"Let's go, Sarah!" He yelled before turning his gaze back to Dave. "Take care, boy." He patted him on his shoulder before turning to the elevator.

"Alright, dear," Sarah said before breaking free from her daughter's hold.

"Goodbye, mum," Emma said with a smile on her face as she watched her mother make her way to the elevator.

After the elevator closed up, she slowly turned her gaze to Dave who was looking at her now.

With the sub gone from the sky now, it was time for the last part of the party, the dance party.

The dance floor was already getting filled up with dancing couples but the bride and groom were nowhere to be found, well, not exactly as they were just standing by the side.

<You're married now, that's one thing taken care of, what else are you planning on taking care of?>

'Well, the season is about to start and it may be my last season with Unique FC so I'm going to fight hard to leave my mark, that's what I'm planning to take care of next, leaving my mark in my boyhood club.'

"Shall we?"

He quickly turned his gaze to his right to see Emma's palm opened up for him.

"Yeah." He said before grabbing her hand.

"Then, let's go." She said before dragging him to the stage.

While most of the people at the party were dancing on the dance floor, Emilia was watching by the side with a bright smile on her face.

Clark was standing beside Mateo who was going through his phone instead of watching what was going on.

"If you're going to go ask her for a dance then go do it already, all you've been doing since is looking at her." The winger said with his gaze still on his phone.

"Huh?" Clark said before turning his gaze to him.

"If you're not going to do it then I'm going to do it." The winger said, this time turning his gaze to him.

"Fine, I'm going," Clark said before he slowly began to make his way to her.

Mateo watched him until he had gotten close enough to her before he turned his gaze back to his phone.

"Hey."

Emilia slowly turned to see Clark standing behind her.

"Hey." She smiled. "I was wondering where you were."

"Um….I was over there with Mateo." Clark said, pointing toward the area where Mateo was standing.

"Oh, okay." She said,

"Um…Emilia, do you mind hitting the dance floor with me?" He asked.

"Sure, I don't mind." She said with a shrug. "I was even about to ask you."

"Really?"

"Yeah, let's go." She said before grabbing him by his arm and pulling him along with her to the dance floor.

It's been a while since I've been to a wedding ceremony so writing this chapter was quite a chore, but I did a fair deal of research on it.
